Nice one... and to think that 15 years prior to this Wayne was among the first Americans, if not the first, to cut a Gibb song ("They'll never know") while the Bee Gees were still a struggling act in Australia.
I happen to be one of the lucky people who have seen Wayne perform this in Vegas many times. My family and I started going to his shows in 1978!! He was a wonderful entertainer, and still is to this very day!! I happen to have this star shaped record that was given to me.
I think Wayne did a great job on this song, and I must say he has charisma like no other!!
I remember this one had its share of hype at the time including a star shaped single and plenty of press in the music trades. It seemed like anything related the Bee Gees in 1978-1979 struck gold so Newton, desperate for a hit, took one of their old songs and gave it a shot. But Wayne is definitely no Gibb! 30 years later and it still sounds embarrassingly bad. Stick to schmaltzy stuff like Danke Schoen and The Letter because you certainly don't have the pipes for r&b/funk, brother.
I have that star-cut record, Used to have a vid of it on youtube, but the old acct was suspended and I never put up a new one. I hadnt heard the song before I bought the record, which I only bought for its uniqueness. What a surprise for sucha funky song to come out of the stereo speakers!

Of course, my favorite version is the original by the Bee Gees (I'm a huge fan of theirs), but this version does it more than justice. :)
