your not supposed to wash a cat. thats why his fur was all messed up before you bathed him. cats preen themselves with that sandpaper tongue. you put shampoo on it and the cat has to lick it off. it makes them sick so they stop and they are miserable because of it. stop bathing your cat, give it enough time to decide to clean itself up and leave it be.

@captainshwammy Actually even with their tounge cats don't get fully clean.Tere are certain spots in which a cats tounge can't reach so they use their paws. But using there paws doen't cleen them as well as using their tounge hence why they need bathes ant least twice a month.

tip: cat will do just fine if you have the water already in the tub the sound of running water freaks them out ive been bathing simba since he was a kitten and now hes use to it and even enjoys it now i also been triming his nails and fur since a kitten and again hes use to it now and sleeps when i clip his hair with the clippers

You are a complete idiot - you first scared the cat with noise of filing the tub with water than you manage the skin from your back cut and removed in small pieces. Best way to bath a reluctant cat, grasp it by the back of the neck firmly but gently and get it over with as quickly as you can. Grasping the nap of the neck will release endorphins which makes the process a little easier on your cat, which means it will be easier on you, meaning you won't get the scratching of your life. Getting it over with quickly means its also less stress and your cat can get started peeing in your shoes quicker.

@KittyKat1627 They don't really clean themselves per se. They get rid of the smell, that's why they lick themselves. That's also why they rub all over you, leave their scent on you. If it's not a natural smell to them, they will spend all day trying to get rid of it. But cats also do their best to not get dirty, that's why you don't have to give them as many baths as say, a dog.

I need to give mine a bath, he's 8 years old and never took a bath before, but now he REALLY needs one, he got i don't know what all over his legs and he smells terrible !
