  • Can you mix a layer separately from an individual assigned mixer channel? I'm trying to figure out how to comfortably manipulate channels.

  • I picture this guy looking like billy rae cyrus... I feel like he has to have a goatie and be really tall from his voice.

  • 5:52

How did you create this sound?

  • Throw some swing into that and a bit of verb and this is going places

  • Ace , I need some help or suggestions !! Ok First question is can you timestretch a sample and allow each note in piano roll to stay in BPM and change octaves like you can in reason?

  • EXCELLENT!

  • my crossfading doesnt work ='[

  • Hey Mr. Pinter , i checked out the music on this website and this one track "what have i done" really caught my ear. beautiful piece of music

  • so is there anything dancy with the layers or is is just a shortcut rather than making several different patterns?

  • @AlpineViking91 Thanks for the question. This is different to making multiple patterns. This gives you a combined instrument that can be played or improvised live.

  • Hey can you make a tut. on some good eurodance leads ? if you have then sorry i've just found out about you

  • This really cool, I subscribed, check out my music if you got time, you wont be disappointed.

  • man fl is so under rated but its the best daw in my opinion

  • You make the best videos.

  • thank you so much for being to the point and not rambling constantly

  • Another great vid man ..... i didnt know you could change the oct by cliking on the controler..... keep the tuts cumin

  • Yeah, I've noticed that. Screen recorders and FL don't play nicely together.

  • Wow man... this is something like a Bachaizer! HAha... Amazing tutorial man, really!

  • cool tutorial man, thanks

  • You and NFX are the best FL guru's in the world!

  • u should really be a teacher cause i been on fl studio since 4.0 and i never though about half of the stuff that's on it in that theory besides my VST's. we are learning so keep the tutorials comin'.

  • Thank you ! you are the best!

  • Do anyone know how to apply the effect to a part of the song, when i cut it the effect still is applyed to the whole song even though I put them in different channels in the mixer ?

  • i can't find children option

    :-o

  • lol the windows errors xD

  • Another great tutorial... keep up the good work its really, really helpful!

  • I learned a lot from your earlier Reason Tutorials. I've noticed you are now using FL Studio. May I ask why? Thankz, your humble student, Pito.

  • @pitolove71 I find it more flexible. but mainly, I love the midi editing power and options of FL.

  • I kept thinking my computer was getting windows errors

  • yea!

  • almost 3 years and he rocked it GOOOOOD lol.........

  • good shit

  • Hey AcePincter,

Another wicked tutorial, good music in the background. I liked the explanation you gave of suspended chords, you explain a lot more then just the use of layers. It's wicked to see how you combined all of it. Thanks!

    Martinezz

  • Thank you so much for explaining these! I'd never worked with the Echo/Delay knobs before, nor did I know what a suspended chord was! I love that you can explain these ideas in layman's terms.

  • it didnt work for me..

  • ACE : You really are one of the best teachers on utube, you inspire people and help them to use a powerful tool like FL studios and get the best from it. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

  • Hello Ace, will you continue with tutorials? just asking, because i think, they are in high level, and i am subscibing it. but since you dont produce them anymore, i need to ask if I should continue subscribe it. thank you.

  • Hey jew, I am still producing, but slowly. I wait until I am sure I have enough material to make a good tut.

  • I think you should consider doing a tutorial DVD. I'd buy one for FL Studio if it included things such as profesional mastering etc.

  • that's a good idea, your tut's are realy helpful and good explained

  • nice ..

  • gsssssss x vjbkni,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • thanks, the distinction between audio and midi delay helps and i didn't know how to turn off the echo haha

  • Cool. Very well spoken, and well prepared.

Just one thing from a music theory perspective: 500 cents is 5 semitones is a perfect FOURTH. So close. :)

  • Thx for this one Ace. I just got a request. That your voice level be more high in comparison to the sound played on FL. Someone alraeady said this, but i would apreciate it a lot if it happened, too. Hope u understand and do it in the next video .One love for all the tutorials. I got Respect tfor your dutty.

  • Yes! This is why you're Ace man. I've been looking all over for how to crossfade instruments, no one here on youtube or on yahoo answers could figure it out, besides you of course.

Keep em comin, you've definitely mastered this!

  • awsome !

  • thank you!

    good stuff from you always.

  • hi Ace

please increase the volume of your voice on the videos... your voice doesn't stand out loud enough compared to the sounds generated by your PC.

love the videos, and have a lot of respect for your work

    take care

  • Thanks :) layers are very useful and save a lot of time

  • wow, this sounds amazing :D great job, will have to use this tutorial for future songs :D

  • awesome

  • you are the best

  • Hmm......I never knew how to really use layers. I would always make multipul basses and just go from there, but this will decrease the amount of time I'm gonna spend on certain things. Thanks dude, you are the best FLer and best FL teacher I've eva seen! Oh and one question; I've been trying to make remixes of several songs but I can't get vocals in there without interferance of the backround band.....do you know how to isolate the vocals without making them sound weird? Thanks a million again!

  • Thanks Ace !

All this time I'm using FL studio, I never knew what that was for : (

  • wow, thanks for explaining it! very helpful. only if i knew it earlier. :P thanks again.

  • hey.. u havent upload any video lately.. wut happend man?

  • Ace!! where u been man?!? welcome back!

  • Wow!!!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH, LEARNED A LOT.

  • ace!

  • What was the effect you used on the piano at 6:07? It sounds really nice

  • As far I can tell, no effect, just another synth layered with the piano.

  • Nope, it's an effect!

Thanks for the comment GBG good to hear from you again.

  • @AcePincter hey this is gunna sound like a real dumb question, but i jsut got FL and i still dont know where everything is, where do i think the layer thing? i know where FL keys are and all that, i just cant find "layer"

  • It's a stuttering delay effect (using a peak control to switch the wet/dry to achieve the stutter)

combined with a bandpass filter (using a square peak controller LFO to achieve the shifting)

with a -THIRD- peak controller giving a slow sine wave to the 60%-90% LFO range on the -2nd- peak controller.

This means I get a nice poppy filter effect that gradually changes range over 128 beats.

Should I do a tut on "link to controller?"

  • O______o

    yes please =]

  • woah....awesome find

  • thanks for sharing! great stuff

  • Nice video, thanks

  • great tutorial on layers. can you link samplers too?

  • You can link any instrument at all.

One GREAT effect I forgot to include:

Make a layer, and link 2 Samplers to it.

Use the same sample for both...

Then, Resample the 2nd one so that it is just -slightly- longer than the first. (Turn the MUL knob to about 102%).

Then, play the layer. All of a sudden, this powerful doppler effect adds amazing richness and spatial effect!

  • It's been some time now... Welcome back.

-500 cents is a perfect 4th down, isn't it? (Which is of course a perfect fifth, one octave down though)

And there are no "perfect fifths" in this modern world because we're usually using an equal temperament scale. But that's a different discussion.

Also, turn off the system sounds! That's always the first thing I do on a new instance of Windows, for my own sanity.

  • Hah, came to say exactly what you already said about intervals. Good video anyway, AcePincter, welcome back!

  • You got me - Thanks for correcting this for the readers. They are usually quicker to spot mistakes than I am!

  • Yes, yes, I realized that after I watched it. Correct.

    +700 = movement of 5th

    -700 = movement of 4th

    +700 / -500 = Same note

    +700 / -500 = Easy to confuse

  • Great that you're making new movies :)

  • I got a few more up my sleeve! check back in a week or so. I haven't been making many tuts lately because my new girlfriend is a sexy blonde nymphomaniac. I've never been happier!

  • LMAO!!

  • @AcePincter I feel you though lol

  • Cool
