no u dont need to get a new blade, but u do need to get a new part everytime, idk what its called but its what stops the blade and it cost about $40. u need a new one everytime caus the saw cuts through it pretty deep so if u dont replace it then it will not stop it the next time

the hotdog is like human flesh in that it conducts electricity. There is a microprocessor attached to the blade that keeps a charge in the blade. when you or the hotdog touches it, it absorbs some of the charge. the microprocessor senses this and triggers the blade to release into the stop. the momentum of the blade causes it to pivot backwards under the table.
