Wonderful movie! I saw it in July 1964 when it was first released, and had been a raving Beatlemaniac since I first saw them on the Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964!
Hard to explain Beatlemania to your kids, but I had it at 6 years old with the Ed Sullivan Shows. It was in full force 10 years later at a Beatle movie marathon in Houston featuring all the films from Hard Day's Night to Let IT BE. My 16 year old is Beatle fan but she'll never know the thrill of taking off the wrapper of their latest album or seeing them on the big screen or even the little screen.
Still the best selling band in the world, on itunes they sold 2 million songs in 10 days, some groups would like to sell 2 million songs ! not alone in 10 days........The Beatles are still Fab.......
Oh how I wish I were young in the 60s. Being a fan of the Beatles now, at my age, many people don't understand how amazingly cool they were (and still are). I feel like I missed out on a great piece of music history. People are going to look back on my generation and think "Britney Spears" and (urgh) "Justin Bieber".
Oh well, I'm a Harry Potter 1st generation. I have that as my hype-experience.
When I was a kid, I would bribe my mom to let me stay home from school to watch "A Hard Day's Night" on TV. They would always play it in the daytime on Channel 11 in St. Louis. I would promise to vacuum the living room and fold all the clothes if she let me stay home. Then she would always add on another chore, and I would agree, as long as I got to watch the Beatles on TV!
Is a documentary, right?

And with one strum of George's guitar, the 60's began ..

@98ILoveTheBeatles98 John Lennon also played the first chord as well, and a piano giving that unique depth to the chord.

This is a clip from "The Beatles On Record" which itself was made from material gathered for The Beatles Anthology project in the mid 1990's.

@lbeatle The plot is dull, and they are terrible actors.
cremekongen1705 1 year ago
@cremekongen1705 Yeah... they weren't good actors, but without this "horrible" movie, music (films) won't be the same today.

The Beatles 'wanted to make a good movie' and they certainly did! Most rock'n'roll movies prior to that were dire (like Elvis movies - cheesy!)

"if you look at our itinerary...a tour of England, a tour of Europe, a tour of America, 2 albums, 4 EPs, 3 singles, a movie, all in the same year..."
Bands today would sue their "handlers" over a schedule like that; considering the quality of what these guys put out there, shear brilliance!
