why werent they much bigger? they gotta be what in their 20's here? guys today could make this kind of music, bring it back, bring in the funk guitar, catchy hooks. just listen to china grove or long train runnin for example. it can be done, sorry I dont play guitars but I wish this classic type would come back.
I think this video is shot at the same place where Tom Sawyer by Rush is Shot. Must be some kinda recording studio. Where is this???? Must be in Canada the Rush one its winter.
I don't really think there playing Day Tripper and Satisfaction. Those two songs weren't really hard rock songs. If you listen to I like to Rock and compare it to those songs there really different. However, when you compare Satisfaction to Day Tripper there pretty much the same songs just a little different.
okay, yeah............ HOW ABOUT Rush, BTO, The Guess Who, Big Sugar, Tea Party, Trooper, Chilliwack, The Tragically Hip, 54-40, Neil Young, The Band (3 of em at least), Heart (formed here and used to introduce themselves as from Vancouver), Triumph, Mahogany Rush (amazing and hugely influential band), Max webster, Kim Mitchell. All that only naming rock artists not getting into all the other amazing talents from Canada............ I think there are very few countries that rock harder.
yee if you listen closely, one person is playing day tripper, one person is playing satisfaction (the rolling stones) and the rest are doing the I like to rock riff,,..It mixes very well
Growing up in Dartmouth (i.e. Halifax) back then, April Wine was pretty much the only band that you could count on for a concert once a year. Remember the Harder Faster tour, the ferry back to Dartmouth from Halifax got DESTROYED on the way back over...insane...it made front page of the papers n' shit. Then the Nature of the Beast tour came by and they had the ferries packed full of cops! lol More great memories..
I have the eight tracks and albums...that turned into cassettes...that turned into CD's. Since 1990, I have seen A.W. 25 times and have had a "few" beers with Brian and Jummy. Thanks boys for the years of awesome music. Been listening since I was 10 years old in 1970. Thats almost 40 years...wow. A great part of my life. I have great memories through your incredible music. NEEDERCE...nice job buddy! Thanks.
Yes Myles playing lead, he always did my friend. I opened for these guys in California, sold out 2000 people at Ventura Theater, its was a FRICKI BLAST, my hero;s growing up in Ontario.
The room they are in is, from what I can tell, an EXACT freaking replica all the way down to the size of the window and the view outside...in Russia.. that Rush recorded/played Tom Sawyer.
look at YT's video and see if I'm correct..cuz if I' am then .. well lol.. I think that's cool, because it makes wonder how many old school bands played in this stuidio? :)
Well, I don't believe this band could do a bad song. This is the most rocking and the best of their many tunes. April Wine is simply amazing. One of the greatest bands EVER !!!
I saw them at the Tennessee Theater back in the 80's and it was the loudest concert I have ever been to. The front band was Frankie and the Knockouts.
What a great era of Rock And Roll just so much talent Styx Deep Purple Foreigner Foghat Blue Oyster Cult that is not even a start I think music was to good for to long and I do not ever think we will see this type of music or musician again
I have loved aprilwine since the 1980's but never had the pleasure of seeing them in concert. I am 44 and still hope to one day. The only Canadian band that I think is better would be Rush.

YES. They're recording at "Le Studio" which RUSH recorded many of their albums over the years. Apparently it was closed and abandoned for some years and was sold within the last year and turned into a "retreat & Spa". Really sad. Someone should buy it back and return it to it's former glory.
I like how the whole audio is a little fried. Gimme more fuzz! You can almost feel the power grid voltage drop when the four guitars kick in. Awesome.
I was thinking the same. An incredible Marshall rawness I would love to hear. Have you seen April Wine Live in London DVD? If you play guitar youself their is a great archive of tablature on their site I only recently discoverd.

Saw these Guys in Liverpool way back in '81 just after they'd appeared on the first ever Monsters of Rock Festival (The one Which Rainbow Headlined). Great show, and a great mystery to me why the fuck they were never bigger than they were over here Great Shame, in order to get some idea of how good they can be live I would recommend "Live at the El Mocambo" (Assuming you can still get hold of it) it's as good as you'll actually get to being there
I grew up somewhere in Central America and probably one of the very first tunes that I listen in my childhood was "Roller" and "Spirit of the Radio" ( Rush )the rest is history I love classic rock! Uria Heep. Boston, Nazaret; among many others yeaahh!! all right, long live R&R

Hey NEDEERC, excellent video of April Wine! Roller is my all time favorite song of April Wine. They have a million other great songs, you don't hear bands like them anymore. It's nice to see the appreciation of a great band. I'm stateside so any April Wine stuff is hard to come by. They are just a great rock & roll band! thanks again.

Theres a sample of a Beatles song in there, I can hear it!!! Anyone else!! day tripper i believe!!!
dookie2kie 2 years ago
They aren't sampling Day Tripper. They are actually playing it on their instruments. At the same time as playing Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones.
They are paying tribute to the two bands and the two songs; Not simply ripping off their talent as so much modern sampled crap does.
That long dead humble attitude is why this music blows away most anything being recorded in this new millenium.
hystat 2 years ago 5
Sound as a pound man. I should have said played but a sample can be something thats played also, can it not!!
I like it anyways, you should check out 'Heavy Goods Vehicle' too, some balls on them!!

But what? My comment stems from the fact that this exact video for I Like to Rock used to appear with crystal clear audio, no offense intended.
