Guns are not good or bad, they are inanimate objects, but when good people (which gun laws affect, as a bad person frankly doesn't give a damn what the law says) are allowed to use them, they can save lives. They also give a sense of protection that is reliable. 911 can't do that.
Moore set up a bad argument at the end. There was a difference when the Constitution was written between "arms" and ordnance, which are weapons that can't be carried by a single person. The second amendment specifically doesn't allow for civilian ownership of a nuclear device because it is not classified as a small arm to begin with. It is classified as explosive ordnance.

Gun crime in the USA follows the drug trade, has since prohibition, and more than half of the gun-induced deaths in the USA every day are suicides, now I don't know about you guys but for some reason I don't think that drug dealers (whose guns are illegally owned anyway) will stop packing heat just because guns are banned, and I also think that suicidal people will find a way to kill themselves anyway. If guns are outlawed, only criminals will have guns.

all these anti-gun people are are trying to do is make america safer, and we should all give them props for that. what they dont realize is that making it harder to obtain guns isnt going to work. the criminals that use guns to kill and do other bad things, already get their guns illegally. if you look statistically, the states with less gun restrictions have the least crime rate in america. while states like california and new york, which have the strictest laws also have the highest crime rate

@lifes40123 you got it backwards, true crime in california did go down after the riots but gang violence has been on the rise in recent years. in places like nebraska, where everyone and their grandmother has a shotgun next to their front door, there is substantially less crime because no one is stupid enough to cause any trouble where everyone has guns. i live in LA, ive seen what happens here

While this film certainly is eye opening, gun deaths only make up a fraction of the deaths in America. Cars, alcohol, cigarettes kill tens of thousands more than guns, yet guns are what people protest most.

See I like to consider myself a staunch libertarian. That the government should mind its own business that industrial and Intelligent people will help make society a better place. @Ultermarto Guns don't save anyone, just as they don't kill anyone. However, there are countless times where a man, woman, or child has defended him/herself from an attacker by using a gun. Guns are not good or bad, they are inanimate objects, but when good people (which gun laws affect, as a bad person frankly doesn't give a damn what the law says) are allowed to use them, they can save lives. They also give a sense of protection that is reliable. 911 can't do that.

Moore set up a bad argument at the end. There was a difference when the Constitution was written between "arms" and ordnance, which are weapons that can't be carried by a single person. The second amendment specifically doesn't allow for civilian ownership of a nuclear device because it is not classified as a small arm to begin with. It is classified as explosive ordnance.
