A traditional chinese instrument called an Erhu.

And the one the boy is playing is called a Ruan.

Though I'm not too sure about the second one...

@Minamiblues Yes, I love Eastern traditional music. All these instruments seem very mellow and soft, yet it can produce powerful sounds. I play the Chinese flute aside from piano, and I wish one day I can be part of music like this. May I ask though, who is Rin and Len? And if you know, what is the origin of this song?

@TaiGekTou I'm not sure of the origin of this song, but it's probably from someone who knows how music should sound like, and that someone posted this awesome song on the Japanese videosite Nicovideo, where more songs are. Rin and Len are twin Vocaloids, and Vocaloid is a popular series of synthesized voice programs that allow music composers to have singing voices without having to hire expensive singers to sing for them. :)
