Excellent cover, Steve and Redd Kross are awesome. Kim Fowley originally released "Motorboat" under the pseudonym Jimmy Jukebox back in 1973 (or there abouts) and can be found on Fowley's so-called Greatest Hits CD "Outlaw Superman."
This is a Kim Fowley tune, performed by the Steven McDonald Group. It's the last of 5 songs on their CD "This is not a rebellion_ This is a MASS AWAKENING!".
It was released in 2002, so now you will have to go looking on eBay!
Steven is one talented and funny motherfucker!!(Both LoveDolls films are classics and I still haven't heard the Bros. commentary on Beyond The Valley of the Dolls yet..)This is a Fowley tune? I can see it now. Probably one of the most underrated and timeless pop bands ...All hail The McDonalds!!
love this song have watched sooooooooooooo many times. Saw them this year in madrid and they were the dogs *******. That was the sixth time i have seen them and the best. They said there is going to be a video of that gig too.YAY Best live band in the world.
Steven has made a deal with the devil, I'm convinced. He is tall, has great fashion sense, still thin, still has his cool hair and still looks like a handsome twenty-three years old even though he has to be over forty.
And speaking as an over-40 who looks... maybe... 50ish, may I just say $&#! him! Naw, good for him. I'm a Stones fan, too, so it's nice to see at least one of my favorite rockers isn't deteriorating like fuzzy yogurt left out of the fridge for a year.
Besides, it's kinda like this cool secret to pass on to deserving friends, you know? ("Shhhh... I'm gonna play something for you, but first I have to swear you to an oath of omerta...")
Hey, Cachonfinga: I've been out of the scene for a long time. Are they back together and gigging? Who replaced Eddie? And who's on drums, for that matter?
sort of together w/ a new cd in the works i've been told, maybe, who knows with these guys.
i saw them in the fall of 2006 in nyc they were great, they are playing in LA on 7/20/07. it is the NEUROTICA lineup, only one i've ever seen, in the 80s in cali and now ha ha!
To FabMike, for completely selfish reasons Im glad Redd Kross never became too successful! It means I can still see them in more intimate venues and feel part of the gig rather than watching them on a screen at some arena!
FANTASTIC dancing, but that's nothing new - Axl Rose was stealing dance moves off Steven McDonald 15 years ago. And for the record, its not Redd Kross but the SMG (Steven McDonald Group). He's a hard man to keep track of - Steven also thumps the thick strings for Beck, The Sparks, Tenacious D, Ze Malibu Kids, even the White Stripes (whether they like it or not!)
weird. i wish they'd go back to their roots.

Well Steve continues to amaze us with his creativity and style. He's got the moves and he ain't afraid to use 'em.
I love the wig, it looks so natural.
Can't wait for the next Redd Kross album.
