  • Yeah I'm thinking that she most likely has seen a number of your videos.

  • I just made a video yesterday talking about a similar experience. One of my friends sent me a link to this video of yours. It is an odd occurance when things like this happen. It creeps me out. But, my wife has been dead for almost 2 years now, and these types of experiences have stopped. Perhaps in our grief we are more open to the "forces" around us. I dunno. Good video.

  • weird?

  • Didn't you say that you have said in other videos where you work, where you are from, and that your brother died? Couldn't she just be someone who has been watching you on youtube?

  • Goethe's Faust is the most sensible.

  • Her knowing about you goes hand in hand with Mephisto. Just read everything I could.

Was she trying to tell you when she said "tell me about it?" that she had made a deal with the devil to gain psychic knowledge? Because most of what I just read has a lot to do with that (The Adam and Eve / tree of knowledge thingie there).

Also, if Mephisto has anything to do with soul collecting for the devil, you ought not want her to "get your brother" back. He's fine where he is. She gave u good news!

  • ...that is... according to the mythology. ;)

  • It really doesn't mean much. You don't have a New York accent; she could have known someone from South Carolina and recognized some lingering accent. As for being "in charge of all the computers," I'll bet she meant all the computers in the world, as in those that are keeping track of her (in her mind, at least). Most people have siblings, and as for being able to bring this one "back for you," well, she was just plain wrong in that guess.

  • P.s. I had a crazy-lady accost me in Cleveland and offer me used birthday cards on which she had drawn tightly-looped spirals--every one was covered with this mess it must have taken her hours. When she presented me with them she exclaimed: "Everyone has a birthday."! A greater truism I cannot imagine!

  • wow. very spooky. i would have been totally freaked out.

note to everyone: never look a stranger in the eye in new york city.

  • Whoa. This one got the hairs up on the back of my neck. I'm so sorry about your brother.

  • Strange, very strange indeed. Curious even.

  • I see by the other comments and you yourself said it was creepy but I think it's a gift. I would be entranced. When experiences like that happen I figure that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be in tife. There are no accidents. Or I would've engaged her. I don't think it was a coincidence. She was just speaking and responding to your listening. Listening as a verb.

  • I could listed to you babble for hours! :)

  • Wow, that creeps me out just hearing it. Do you suppose she watches your videos?

I am so sorry to hear about your brother. My condolences.

  • I didn't know about your brother, Phil. I'm really sorry for your loss. I have a brother the same age. He's healthier than I am, though, and younger. I hope I go before any of my siblings. I'm that selfish.

Having a stranger say that to you about your brother must have been shocking as hell. That was one creepy woman!

  • I'm not gonna try and think of yet another hypothesis. I'll just acknowledge that moments of awe or just plain inability to make immediate sense out of facts are very intense.

  • I think she had a message for you. Some people are seen as crazy could be a link to another plain of existance. I know you don't believe in the supernatural, but I believe that energy never really dies but changes form, and I have had some psychic moments myself, one time i dreamed of an accident and the next day was riding in the car in the exact intersection and I yelled stop just as a car pulled into the intersection from a red light, Maybe coincidence, maybe not, there is a message 4u.

  • VERY INTERESTING!!!! (for ME, @ least!) Thanks SO much for sharing, & I am sorry to hear about your loved one passing away recently... I give you a lot of credit for being a "non-believer" who could share this with all of us, even though it might have freaked you out.... I know a good number of people who had "knee-jerk" reactions to such people-they even went so far as to go out of their way to discredit what was said... even what we all knew was accurate~but they refused to admit it...

  • (Some worthless tidbits of info that I came across @ wikipedia-that relates to the part you mentioned @ the end re: Mephisto/Greek/Latin...)

"The name Mephistophiles already appears in the 1527 Praxis Magia Faustiana, printed in Passau, alongside pseudo-Hebrew text. It is best explained as a purposely obscure pseudo-Greek or pseudo-Hebrew formation of Renaissance magic...."

  • "...Jeffrey Burton Russell speculates on Greek elements that may have played a part in the coining of the name, including Greek mē "not", phōs "light" and philos "lover", suggesting "not a lover of light" in parody of Lucifer ("light-bearer"; in that case, the change from the presumed original mephoto- to mephist- may be due to a suggestion of the Latin mephitis ("pungent")."

(I know... it's unreliable & useless information, but I can't help but find it to be interesting, nonetheless!) :)

  • Maybe she's psychic?

  • Maybe psychotic.

  • Oh, honey, now did you ever consider that she might be a watcher of your YouTube channel? That would be my guess.

  • Only if she gets broadband through the tin foil hat in her refrigerator box. Or perhaps the library... maybe.

  • That's funny.... now that I am no longer on the bus with her :)

  • No, she had teeth.

  • Was Rod Serling waiting for you at your stop?

  • I wish. I would shake his hand and tell him that I think he is the best writer/producer that was ever on TV. And he very well could have written and produced the bit of theater on the 3rd Ave Bus!

  • . . . And John Waters could co-write and produce a TV series on what I have experienced and/or witnessed on the D train in my youth. The West 4th St Station could be a two part premiere episode featuring the top and bottom platforms.

If Rod Serling was available he could have done the opening monologue in front of the Waverly.

    Hey Phil . . . wanna put on a show? ;-{)

  • Maybe by 'watching you for a long time' she meant your youtube videos, and she picked up all that information -from- your videos. Just a theory.

  • I thought of that. She doesn't seem like she would have much contact with a computer, but perhaps that is just a prejudice. She might very well have seen me.

  • I can imagine all the thoughts in your brain about it! Makes you wonder how sure can you be about something you thought impossible!

    I would have nightmares, crazy!!!

    Hug

  • Fortunately I didn't dream about her last night. But her face has been in my mind all day.

  • If you say enough random things your bound to get one or two correct. The South Carolina can be guessed just by listening to you speak.

  • Possibly, although I didn't say much. Mostly monosyllables. But possible.

  • Wow, that sure is a little creepy.

I have a feeling you might take a different bus next time :)

  • You read my mind (see comment below).

  • Yeah, creepy is accurate. No matter what, I would have been uncomfortable with it too. Time to change your stops?

  • I'm definitely not taking that bus tonight.

  • I'm always meeting people who seem to know me. I have absolutely no idea who they are. They know too much about me. They stop me to talk and are always overly friendly.

Some know things about my family. My dad was ill for months before he recently died. No one saw him ill.

They ask, "How is your father doing?"

One asked, "Is your father dead yet?"

Another, "What is talking your father so long to die."

Occasionally, mom will be with me and she will ask, "Who was that?"

    I have no idea.

  • I sometimes wonder if it is like when you buy a car and it seems as if half the world has that same car.

Like you with your father, I am in a sensitve place emotionally about my brother, so just the word brother can resonate in ways it might not normally.

  • Love how you tell us of your adventures.

    You actually had me LOL!

Remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day. She did have a face and two hands, and was clearly "broken".

  • She was broken. I hope I don't come off as making fun of her. She wasn't dumb. It seemed as if she had real intelligence at some point, but here thoughts were broken into fragments and reassembled in a random way.

  • No, I didn't see you as making fun of her at all.

I suppose my laughter came more from comparing your encounter to similar experiences of my own with "broken" strangers, and how trying desperately to avoid them always seems to be futile. Under the initial humor of it however, the widely varying and sometimes extremely discombobulated human mind is always a fascinating thing to observe.

  • Let's look at a bullshit probability on her guesswork: In charge of all the computers? That could mean a lot of things. 30%. You're from SC? You have a bit of a southern accent, so maybe 10%. Get your brother back. Hmm. Well, that could mean a lot of things as well. It's not necessarily a prediction that he passed. It assumes you have a brother and that he's gone somehow... Maybe 10%?.

Now, what's the chance that she watches your channel? Would that explain everything if so? I suck at this...

  • I still lean towards coincidence. If she had named the company I work for or named the city I am from or named my brother... then I would be drinking heavily by now.

  • Wow sir you scared me!

  • Yeah, me too.

  • Oh, and just because you never noticed her on the bus before doesn't mean she hasn't been there every day, noticing you.

    Great vlog.

  • I just don't ride that bus often. Yesterday was a rare day when I work in Long Island so I was coming home from Penn Station and not my Manhattan office. There was something vaguely familiar about her. I might have seen her before somewhere in the city.

  • From my experiences in life I am convinced that there are some people who can *sense* things that they have no realistic way of knowing (whether that's from reading thoughts or talking to the dead or just looking in your eyes, I don't know). And, from my experienced in life, such *skills* can frequently coincide with disorders such as schizophrenia. Not every schizo is psychic, not every psychic is schizo, but I've seen the overlap before.

  • I got the impression that whatever she was saying was not coming from a conscious mind. Of course I don't know what I am talking about, but it seemed to come from somewhere else. She said more stuff that didn't make sense than those few things that did. But the ones that did were stunning.

  • Dude, you have 2,909 subscribers. Why on earth would you think this is strange. Mark her as one of the 2,909 who can easilty know those 3 things about you. She so much as told you she was a subscriber by saying "I've been watching you for a long time". SO HAVE I. and so have all your sub's.

    C'mon man!

  • If we ever meet on a bus don't creep me out like that. Tell me who you are! I hope she subs and I hope she sees this.

  • Okay, now that third thing is indeed creepy and spooky. And she'll probably unsub if she sees this.

And, sure, Latin is Latin but... is Greek really Greek Active or Greek Passive?

  • And we won't even get into French...

I bet she is subscribed to you.

  • I met people like that before

  • I hope I don't meet her again.

  • That's creepy!

  • At the very least.

  • .....cue the music from "Twilight Zone".....

  • I love that show.

  • She sounds like your run of the mill, clairvoyant, schizophrenic youtuber. :)

  • If she had a channel she would be very popular. And as JimmyHook suggested, she and Ian would make a fine pair.

  • "Father, could you help an old altar boy? I'm Cat'lick." Hmmm...ol' Beelzebub may be up to his old tricks again.

  • Demi, why you do this to me, Demi.

  • I don't creep out easy, but in the same situation, I am pretty sure that would strike me as very odd. However, like many other people said, she either has seen your videos (which is possible I suppose) or it is merely coincidences.

All that super-natural stuff some people suggested is complete inane though. ;p

  • Yeah, I don't buy the supernatural stuff. I wish it were true, just like I would love to see a real ghost. But it has never happened and I see no evidence that it ever really does.

  • I've never had anything strange happen to me :( lol

  • I have so many strange things happen to me. I wish they would stop.

  • Well hopefully i'll take some of those weird experiences off your hands, im heading the Big apple way next week, had to originally postpone it due to some insurance issues lol

  • Welcome to the funhouse.

  • Very strange. My guess: she watches your YouTube videos, she recognised you and she decided to yank your chain.

  • I don't think she was that canny. It seemed the things she said came from somewhere other than her conscious mind.

  • That's quite possible too but I would still think she may have seen you on line, and perhaps these are things that came bubbling to the surface as she was talking to you.

  • That is strange, I don't know how you stayed in that seat! Maybe she somehow watches your videos and stalks you on the internet? A definite long shot, but still possible.

  • I considered moving, but I thought if I offended her she might pursue me. She wasn't shy.

  • talk about sending chills up my spine. if you have anymore "strange coincidences" plz post them. would love to hear more

  • I will definitely let you know.

  • OMFG ~ That is so eerie Phil!

That had to be more than a coincident.

    Luvs,

    Mooz

  • I don't know what it was, but it stays with me, Mooz.

  • That just disturbing on so many levels. I always ended up being approach by strange characters on public trans when I lived in NYC... it was like I was a magnet for them.

    Love You Phil (((HUG)))

  • I usually have enough sense not to make eye contact. But this time my curiosity got to me.

    Love you, babe.

  • schizophrenics always gave me the creeps. i don't know why. maybe i watch too much tv and serial killer movies.

  • At one point she reached around in her bag. I was thinking, "I hope she doesn't have a gun."

  • That is bizarre.

  • It is New York, after all.

  • I have schizophrenic relatives, and the "I've been watching you" comment sounds very familiar to them; I've heard one of them say: "I'm not the one watching you from behind these eyes..." and other creepy things.

It is incredibly odd; there was a general thread of being interested in or somewhat "adept" in psychic abilities... though they're just stories, and haven't witnessed it myself. I guess its just going to have to be one of those incidents that you file away in the back of your mind.

  • I don't think it will ever be explained, but certainly always remembered.

  • Mephistopheles (one variant is Mephisto) was a character - the devil - in Goethe's Faust, or the Faust legend.

  • Which just makes it creepier.

  • One thing for sure, Latin is Latin and Greek is Greek.

  • Tell me about it.

  • I'm going to tell you all about it ........... as soon as a Bird of Paradise nest in your hat......then you will be ready.

  • People tell me I need some feathers there :)

  • See.....there you go.

  • Seems like you have a schizophrenic fan, FB!

  • Oh, I have several of those ;)

  • Wow, that was certainly a little on the creepy side. I hope she gets a really nice refrigerator box because those flat panel TV boxes are on the skinny side. (OK really I hope she doesn't get kicked out, but I can't resist a cheap funny line, or at least one I think is funny, LOL.) (And apparently I can't resist laughing at my own jokes, LOL) Crap there I did it again.

  • I thought that when she mentioned TV box. It was either an outdated reference or she had a sly wit, which is possible.

  • That is definately creepy. It gave me a cold shiver just now.

  • I am still creeped over it.

  • Odd

  • Indeed.

  • That give me an eerie feeling just siting here.

I hope that it was not your normal time ... getting on the bus, or you may see more of her.

  • I don't really have a normal time or a normal bus. Sometimes I take the subway or a taxi and I leave work at varying hours. If I run into her again I will have to ask her if I can film it.

  • I'm hearing Twilight Zone music over here listening to this...

I've had odd encounters with strange ones on buses & a few up in LA, but nothing like this...

    Sorry for your loss.

  • I love the Twilight Zone. I think she would play very well on film. In fact her makeup suggested to me that she might have once been an actress. And show business can certainly make you crazy.

  • PS. Sorry to hear about your brother RIP

  • Thank you. He died much too young (57) and we miss him very much.

  • There's just too much coincidence here... Because of your YouTube channel you're not exactly a complete unknown... I mean even I have been approached randomly by one of my subscribers :)

  • If she does watch me on youtube I hope she watches this one and sends me a message.

  • That's wild Bobby.

  • It sure is, Hank.

  • The wife and I wonder if it is somebody who watches your videos. That would explain how she knows so much about you. If she was indeed schizophrenic, she may remember your videos from the moments of clarity that schizophrenic sometimes experience. We are also sorry for your loss.

  • Thank you. I could deal with all of her ramblings, including the ones about me, but when she mentioned my brother it became really strange and (though I'm sure not deliberately) cruel.

At the time I thought maybe she had seen me on YouTube, but it seems like a stretch.

  • Seems all she needed was to be begging next to a place you were at launch one day and over heard you talk of work and your brother.

Since your voice is very distinct and you tell a good story she ended up listening.

  • Perhaps, but I usually eat at my desk. I doubt that I will ever have a satisfactory explanation.

  • Creepy indeed

  • That is some name. Do you know Nutcheese?

  • Nope. But I'll check his channel out.

About the name, I tried to come up with a name with everything Bart Simpson frequently says...sadly this is the best I came up with :(

  • wild.

  • To say the least.

  • WOW! Great Story!

    5/5

  • Thanks MBV. If I see her again I might need some mad bad voodoo.

  • LOL!!

  • Wow. Eerie. I would be completely creeped out. I am sorry for the loss of your brother.

  • Thank you. He was a very fine person and died too young (57).

  • Wow, I love people like that, I've had my encounters also, several in fact. The difference, I do believe in the supernatural. Without disrespecting your loss, or enticing you off to your neighborhood psychic. What I think she was trying to convey, was that in reality, there is only ever two, and one of them is you. once you master that riddle, you would gain your brother back, not as he was, but now as you both should be. We love some, very special, because we love all some.

  • I have to think about that one for a while.

  • Heh, make it a short while -- it's gibberish, and there's too much of it going around today.

  • we assume that people are mentally ill because they fit into a definition of what we consider to be "ill". perhaps this woman is tapped into the supernatural in away but can't quite control it very well so she was gleaning a few points about you from "the other side" and they came out of her periodically. then again, she might just be a crazy person with a few lucky guesses. who knows? Im not a big believer in the supernatural either. Still it is very strange indeed.

  • It will always haunt me. If I ever see her again, though, it will be too creepy.

  • I'm a very skeptical person but that was no coincidence....I don't know what it was but I know it wasn't a coincidence

  • The odds are certainly heavily against accidentally getting those things accurately, but not completely impossible.

  • I would have flipped out for sure!!!! Sorry you had to go through that! Didn't seem to pleasant:(

  • It wasn't too bad, as long as I had an escape. Just a little uncomfortable. But I got a good story out of it.

  • Very odd, Phil--but intriguing, isn't it? Ian Crossland, if you see this, please do a video response on your interpretation of this incident! (That would be fun, wouldn't it?) ;)

  • I would love to get her and Ian in a room together with a camera to record it.

  • creepy. She's a good cold reader

  • I don't know where it came from, but she did hit some pretty amazing things.

  • I love the crazy people...

  • I love 'em too. But at a distance.

  • Very odd. I feel there is a fine line between Psychic and Psychotic, could be either. Or more likely, as you said, "Strange Coincidences, on the Third Avenue Bus."

  • I think I am more psychotic :)

  • that is really weird. do you think it is possible she might actually watch your youtube videos. that would explain her statement i have been watching for a long time as well as having some insight into your life? i am not a believer in the supernatural either so that would be my explanation which matches with reality. but of course i could be wrong. still an interesting story for sure.

  • She doesn't seem like the type who would spend time on a computer, but you never really know.

  • You should have become friends with this person. Continued conversation on a later date. But I guess you didn't?

  • Oh no... I've been friends with enough disturbed people in my life.

  • Odd encounters like that are disarming...you have no idea what to make of what is happening. A strange combination of emotional buttons get pushed, in a sequence seemingly out of nowhere. Logically...our mind says it's coincidental but yet...

  • Coincidence or clairvoyance? While I believe some people can intuit certain things... I don't know. She also said a lot of other things that don't make sense.

  • Sometimes I wonder if clairvoyance is limited to people like her...

    I hope that made sense.

  • indeed, very strange Bobby.

  • That's George to you :)

  • That is a really spooky story. Do you think she's a stalker? Maybe she just picked up a few lines along the way that grabs people's attention on the bus. I like eye contact rule you talked about, I'd like to hear more tips you've learned along the way on how to be street savvy. Great video FB, as always.

  • I don't think she is a stalker. She was on the bus when I got there and I don't always take the same bus. I don't always take a bus. And I leave work at variable times, so she would have had no way to know I would be there. It was just one of those things.

  • Hmmnn....Only in New York. Unsettling.

  • It is still with me 24 hours later. I'm taking a different bus today.
