Nice review from a psychological perspective...however I think that the physical foundation of the gate it's in dispute. We know that there's central modulation over the primary sensory neurons projections to the dorsal horn....nevertheless it's unknown (so far I know) if the WDR neurons actually can project to higher nucleus or the interaction on Lamina I NK1 positive neurons of different afferents. In other words...we don't even know how the gate works..if it works at all.
