Hey Marty, I just want to say your a pretty good teacher. I started to watch your videos and learn diffrent ways to play blues notes and the 5 major pentitonic scales and I just want to say thanks for what you are doing. Keep making videos and keep rockin and rollin.
This is a great song to listen to and play. It makes you light up when you finally get it down. Took me several pauses and rewinds, Marty was so into jamming sometimes he forgot he was teaching. Haha.
The "THUMB", that wonderful appendage that we humans are all blessed with is SOOOOOOOOO integral for any good funky blues. The E was made to be played with that stubby little non finger. Yet most hide it in shame (chuckle) behind the neck! Pull that little bugger out of its socket stretching it around that stick and learn the secret that eludes most.
There's a lot of skill needed too. I guessed the "DOUBLE NOTES?!" you referred to were where he looped the intro. Could be misleading if you were trying to learn to play it all together.
KEEP THEM COMING!!!! you have gotten me out of my texas blues rut you are literally the only person doing any of these songs and helping me along with learning it THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I appreciate your videos very much. We all might be able to learn the notes he played but no one can replicate the direct connection SRV had from his soul to his guitar, no one!
not to get too picky, but the hammer on riff you are talking about at 4:51 isn't a hammer-on, he's doing a flat 5 shape slide from fret 11 on the d string and fret 12 on the g string up to fret 12 on the d string and fret 13 on the g string, just thought you'd like that, it' slighty more dissonant sounding and all around bad-ass
Hey this shit is God . . . demons snapping out from the strings . . . magic on fire . . . thank you for helping make it look like mortals can play too . . .
Hey Marty, I've been using your blues DVD course and it's fricking fantastic. My playing has improved tremendously!! Thank's for being there for all of us.
hey marty, i started playing the guitar about 2 and a half years ago. and for the frist year i didnt play much at all. i tryed learning from a book and a dvd i got from samash. i learnt maybe 2 chords that hole year...then i found you... and man did my guitar skills blast off!! no lie i went from not wanting to play to cant stop playing over night...you've tought me everything i know and i want to thank you...so thank you marty thank you!!
@john95266 Haha so true, I learned bugger all from my dvd's, then i found marty and did what he told me, and from that i picked up chords etc. Marty rules!
Marty, I have just recently started back playing guitar after years of neglecting my talent. You have been an incredibly inspirational teacher, and all-around good guy.
Your mastery of your instrument and your great personality make you the finest teacher on YouTube. Keep up the good work, and I will keep up the hard work of trying to learn this great stuff.
Marty! Please don't stop teaching SRV... the "other guy" who teaches SRV is too geeky. Maybe he's good for left brain thinkers. You on the other hand simply rock!
Hey there Marty Great video has always. Could you teach me how to play Rhythm is love by Keziah Jones?. I've wanted to learn this song for ages but cant find any good lessons on it. I find the way you teach & explain things much easier to learn. I have added around 25 tunes to my guitar playing in the past year and half thanx to your vids. Thanx for all you do. Keep up the good work. DM.
lovin' the stevie ray stuff marty.... you're sounding pretty spot on! wish i had more time to dig into this stuff right now.... soon though.
btw youtubers, what the hell is up with subscriptions being sorted oldest to newest. youtube is fantastic for this stuff but they make some questionable decisions from time to time!
If you could throw in your next blog a vid from your early stages performing or playing or something it'd be cool, that way we could have a laugh and see how you improved, would be an encouragement to see once you we're not awesome :D
Marty, would you do some more John Mayer? Some of the blues trio maybe? People may associate him as 'girls music', but man hes an amazing musicians, and his chords are really complex in certain songs .. Just consider it :)
SO HAPPY YOU'RE DOING A BUNCH OF SRV!.. Can't thank you enough, this is PERFECT for my ability, and just where i am musically right now.. Thank you thank you thank you!.. Please thumbs up fellow Guitarists! ..

@paranorma1palace im a huge hendrix fan. but srv is the man. he found his own. its natural for a guitarist to admire hendrix and srv. they were the titans of the axe

@paranorma1palace well honest to god i used to have the same opinion because i can hear plenty of licks from some of hendrix's songs. alot from axis bold as love tho. but stevie was still his own. his agressive style of play for the blues is what made him who he was. plus he was more of an albert king person so he got alot of his licks from him. just enjoy what he did that was different. i wish some jimi lessons would come up. i only know about ten of his songs
Hey Marty, I just want to say your a pretty good teacher. I started to watch your videos and learn diffrent ways to play blues notes and the 5 major pentitonic scales and I just want to say thanks for what you are doing. Keep making videos and keep rockin and rollin.
