@gogzy, I spoke today with the tour's lighting designer. The slowest load out for the full package of sound, lights, and stage (not including the claw and false floor) was 15 hours from the first date, with the speed record being a little over 3 hours. The claw took another two days to get out after that.
Ya you take out the big stage in the back and stick a little one in the middle...more space made for people=more tickets made for people. They didn't want to be different and new...they wanted more money.
@JeffHardyRocks3000 you are really a ignorant cunt aint you get fucking real not everyone like the same music so have some respect an appreciate all types of music because it would be a very boring world if we all liked the, same shit asshole.
I just saw U2 perform live, in concert, at Rice-Eccle's Stadium in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night, as part of the North American leg of their 360 Tour that kicked off in Denver on the 21st.
That claw thing is the hugest fucker I've ever seen in my life.
@stigmatic79 if you live in Phoenix Tucson Denver San Diego Northwest Louisiana Las Vegas Los Angeles Tennessee Texas New Mexico Reno then rhino staging will be your bet, rhinostaging com i have the out for the denver gig, i'm also doing the in and the out for SOAD

@pglee the only venue that i know of in Colorado that the union does is redrocks, which i hear sucks, also they are offering medical and while i do think that unions are a good thing, they are not right for everyone and every purpose. it is just as ignorant to blatantly say don't go with this one company as it would to say don't go with a union. also sometimes unions can become bloated and overly bureaucratic entities that they once stood against. also i think any company that is creating jobs

QUESTION: 55 trucks for "ZOO TV", 120 trucks for "360deg". I have not been to 360 yet but from what I've seen, this doesn't seem to even come close to ZOO TV! What do you think?
@aginnsz When you see it in person, you'll realize it's actually quite massive. ZOO TV's stage was mostly screens. This is an entire free-standing structure (actually, two free standing structures, at that), and a massive screen. It's the biggest stage ever built for a concert. Go to one of the shows - no matter how much you pay, it's worth it.

Seriously, this is the biggest stage I've ever seen, ZOO TV really nice too, but this is massive! And beautiful! Light effects, etc, all amazing! Go and see them, you'll see!
@mentonerodominicano It took 6 days to construct? I will be working on this when it comes to our city. I'm a stage hand and do a lot of the major concerts. Now I see why my supervisor said to book my holidays for the event.
the reason they are continuing their tour this year is because they haven't finished paying for their claws. 40 million dollars I believe. The question is what do they do with the three claws when tey are done?
@sandmanstranger The actually broke even with it all on the last show in Vancouver on October 28th 2009. It's paid for. Maybe now it's time to make some money? haha
yes, at the start of the tour though it took even longer, because it was the first proper time dismantling it as fast as they can where as the test build lasted 3 weeks.
the quickest they ever got the stage down and last truck away was 13 hours. my mate was one of the riggers on that tour and i was one of those drivers in the film in the black trucks.
indoor arenas r much better coz they keep the sound in Stadiums dont tho thats the big problem they r good at creaming in 1000s of ppl but not having good sound

Your exactly right doald... as far as Bono saying rock is dead HAHAHAHA no thanks to them.
U2 are not even a rock band they are a gay vanilla pop group.
Bono is sooo full of shit with all his 'save the world bullshit', he does nothing but rip people off and donates hardly anything compared to his earnings.

shut up you fucking tree hugging hippie. did you bother to go see the show? if you did you would realize its worth it. does it really have a impact on the enviroment? i dont think so
U2s CO2 emissions on this tour are the equivalent of the waste created by 6,500 average British or Irish people in an entire year, or equal to leaving a standard 100 watt lightbulb on for 159,000 years.
Their also traveling 70,000 air miles for a 100-date tour on their private jet. If you're telling me that doesn't "make a difference", you're barking, man.

id just have a stage 40x40 stage sdet up in the middle, alot less setting up and not as expensive, and the view from the crowd. just like metallicas stage
Going to Norman, Ok to help construct this stage next week with the crane company I work for. This video gives me a great demo of what I'm in for. It's home to the sooners but I am a great UT fan. Texas will be stomping that ass the day before the concert, maybe U2 will help comfort them after they lose. Hook em' Horns!
good concert but the stage was too much. the tickets would have cost less and there'd be a couple tons less of CO2 floating around in the air if they would have just stopped at the circular stage.
They have good songs and perform them well. They dont need to put on a circus too.
Not one million each - about 15 million stg each for the metal structure. Still they are giving them away at the end. Apparently all the gear cost about 90m including the lights and speakers and stuff
They said they weren't doing baseball stadiums, which is kind of a shame...arena, the only thing that wouldn't fit would be the claws, since they're high.
My friend, they have the money, fame and it is obvious by now, they have dedicated hardcore fans, who would follow them everywhere, so why not, if this is the way they like to do it, so be it. By the way all that job is not done for free, everyone is getting paid and having a job during this recession. So I don't see it ridiculous!!
First, we aren't friends. I don't even know you. Second, all I'm doing is adding my opinion, which I have the right to do. I agree that they have the money, the fame, and the fanbase. Considering how long they've been around, they should. What I don't agree with is what you said about having jobs. This is because ticket prices will most likey be more than most can afford nowadays, just to pay the people doing these jobs, which, I think, defeats that purpose! Argue, if you want. I don't care.
Ticket prices for all shows so far have averaged roughly $100. For this type of show that's bargin. You're paying close to $100 to see bands play the same old arena shows all the time. No Doubt was $90 last summer, Fake Gn'R toured in 2006 and charged $90. I saw Bon Jovi in 2007 for $120. I saw U2 THREE times in September for the grand total of $220. Tickets to a U2 show are priced extremely fair. Do some research before you voice your obviously misinformed opinion
Whoever you are, u seem to hate U2, yet I see you find time to watch every youtube related to 360 tour and not only watch the video, but be sure to leave your comments
Just because I don't like the stages, doesn't mean I hate the band. I really have NO opinion about them...good, or bad. As far as what videos I watched, did you see this comment, and go through more '360' videos, just to see what ones I watched, or what?
£1 million each and they have 3, in an interview last week they said they are looking for venues to donate hem as permanent fixtures after the tour... shame my back garden isn't big enough! LOL
During the show, does the band really use this stage to the fullest? For example, does Bono or Edge ever go out on the Outer Circle or face the seats at the end of the field?
even then they are way beyond any other rubbish bands with regards to stage apart from the incredible music they make...hope that satisfies ur shallow brain
Considering the quality of the last two albums, U2 is becoming a rubbish band. Only their fame save them, not their music. There are young bands quite more interesting than U2 today.
worthless comment...i'll ignore that. They're better than Beatles, Floyd etc ... newcomers do have a known choice (U2s) to copy but can never be as good.....Coldplay...RUBBISH
U2's alright , I saw them live in Toronto a couple of nights ago. They dont even come close to Pink Floyd. You are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't mean you are not incredibly stupid.
you know, i saw pink floyd twice.. i saw U2 twice. i will take U2 over pink floyd... one of the main reasons is that i feel inspired by U2's music and feel good... pink floyd is good too, but it sure is depressing... but hey, depressing is not a bad thing too. it's kind of good depressing... it's all good.
What a moronic comment. Yeah cause the people who don't like the band's music are sitting at home thinking "gee I really should get tickets to U2 so I can see that stage" You're an idiot.
-"I'm suprised to see how stupid can someone be?"-
In regards to one's opinion that U2 is better than Pink Floyd. First of all this makes you a jackass to sugggest people are stupid based on their musical taste and secondly you're an idiot who can't even form a proper sentence . The irony of it all is you're the one saying how suprised you are at how stupid others can be, yet you can't even form the sentence properly to express that.
No, the irony of it all is that you are criticizing someone else of not being able to form a sentence, yet you yourself can't even spell easy words like "suggest" or "surprised".
see people like you are what makes society suck. At no point did I claim to be a genius. A missing "r" and an extra "g" are obvious typeo's however. You on the other hand are a loser who calls out people for being stupid based on which band they prefer. It's clear you're an ass.
I saw Roger Waters in Omaha and then in Dallas either show was more moving than the U2 show I saw in Norman. A couple who flew in from Chicago to see U2 for the second time in Norman said the Norman show was better. I would pay to see Waters or Gilmore again but not $100 to see U2 again.
...Seems like you like to see shows from people who hasn't recorded a single succesful album since 1980...I'll stick with the ones that are still at their peak, and not just living out of royalties from songs written back in the seventies...Not even PF closes U2 performing live, PF shows sound exactly the same on CD...U2 improves their catalogue platin live...now go get some sleep grand pa...let the young see their idols...yours are dying...
@gogzy, I spoke today with the tour's lighting designer. good concert but the stage was too much. the tickets would have cost less and there'd be a couple tons less of CO2 floating around in the air if they would have just stopped at the circular stage.
They have good songs and perform them well. They dont need to put on a circus too.

thanks for building a great stage...

Thanks for making the whole video, this one goes straight to my favs :D
Xalira06 2 years ago
Oh yeah! This is what I'm talking about! Been looking for something like this since May, when the stage was built for the first time!
aresorum 2 years ago
Not one million each - about 15 million stg each for the metal structure. Still they are giving them away at the end. Apparently all the gear cost about 90m including the lights and speakers and stuff
timmango 2 years ago
yer but they dont pay for it all. they pay for the rental and use from whichever company provides the lighting or sound etc
Guitarist101 2 years ago
Sure this stage can fit in any type of stadium.
BeachBoy1100 2 years ago
...or arena!
clonetrooper1583 2 years ago
They said they weren't doing baseball stadiums, which is kind of a shame...arena, the only thing that wouldn't fit would be the claws, since they're high.
BeachBoy1100 2 years ago
Amazing!! So how many of these setups are there? Assuming they do a gig every other night and each rig takes 8 days to build?
Also, they had the black material hanging from the ceiling in Cardiff too - are they supposed to be baffles for sound??
peanutismint 2 years ago
All this trouble just so four guys can come on, do a two hour set, and call it a day!?!? How ridiculous!!
clonetrooper1583 2 years ago
My friend, they have the money, fame and it is obvious by now, they have dedicated hardcore fans, who would follow them everywhere, so why not, if this is the way they like to do it, so be it. By the way all that job is not done for free, everyone is getting paid and having a job during this recession. So I don't see it ridiculous!!
mikeincayman 2 years ago
First, we aren't friends. I don't even know you. Second, all I'm doing is adding my opinion, which I have the right to do. I agree that they have the money, the fame, and the fanbase. Considering how long they've been around, they should. What I don't agree with is what you said about having jobs. This is because ticket prices will most likey be more than most can afford nowadays, just to pay the people doing these jobs, which, I think, defeats that purpose! Argue, if you want. I don't care.
clonetrooper1583 2 years ago
Actually, ticket prices have been affordable with a range of prices from $30 to $500 and auctions running $250 to $500.
Right now! You can get a ticket into see the Dallas Show for $18.
When was the last time you saw band deliver those prices for a show like this? Roger Waters?
HeliGirl 2 years ago
Ticket prices for all shows so far have averaged roughly $100. For this type of show that's bargin. You're paying close to $100 to see bands play the same old arena shows all the time. No Doubt was $90 last summer, Fake Gn'R toured in 2006 and charged $90. I saw Bon Jovi in 2007 for $120. I saw U2 THREE times in September for the grand total of $220. Tickets to a U2 show are priced extremely fair. Do some research before you voice your obviously misinformed opinion

Whoever you are, u seem to hate U2, yet I see you find time to watch every youtube related to 360 tour and not only watch the video, but be sure to leave your comments
mikeincayman 2 years ago
Just because I don't like the stages, doesn't mean I hate the band. I really have NO opinion about them...good, or bad. As far as what videos I watched, did you see this comment, and go through more '360' videos, just to see what ones I watched, or what?
clonetrooper1583 2 years ago
£1 million each and they have 3, in an interview last week they said they are looking for venues to donate hem as permanent fixtures after the tour... shame my back garden isn't big enough! LOL
sawilton2610 2 years ago 3
stage is constructed in Wechter, Belgium... 100m of my home :p
bartje50 2 years ago
They have 3 of these, as they play on 1, 1 is going up and 1 is coming down...Watched them at Sheffield, AMAZING!
Bcmovies64 2 years ago 2
it's an amazing stage, if it takes 8 days to erect and dismantle surely there must be at least two if not three? Must be amazing logistics involved.
andrewdarlington1234 2 years ago
I agree with JonnyTRex99: At Wembley Bono or Edge did not face the seats at the end of the field to the rear of the stage.
jazzman70 2 years ago
During the show, does the band really use this stage to the fullest? For example, does Bono or Edge ever go out on the Outer Circle or face the seats at the end of the field?
JohnnyTRex99 2 years ago
Nice video...
I think most of the people go to their concerts because of the stage, not the music...
bartolo25 2 years ago
even then they are way beyond any other rubbish bands with regards to stage apart from the incredible music they make...hope that satisfies ur shallow brain
manzone604 2 years ago
Considering the quality of the last two albums, U2 is becoming a rubbish band. Only their fame save them, not their music. There are young bands quite more interesting than U2 today.
bartolo25 2 years ago
worthless comment...i'll ignore that. They're better than Beatles, Floyd etc ... newcomers do have a known choice (U2s) to copy but can never be as good.....Coldplay...RUBBISH
manzone604 2 years ago
Better than the Beatles and Pink Floyd?... are you deaf or what?
bartolo25 2 years ago
Better than Pink Floyd? haha that was funny.
I'm surprised to see how stupid can someone be.
U2's alright , I saw them live in Toronto a couple of nights ago. They dont even come close to Pink Floyd. You are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't mean you are not incredibly stupid.
natural 2 years ago
you know, i saw pink floyd twice.. i saw U2 twice. i will take U2 over pink floyd... one of the main reasons is that i feel inspired by U2's music and feel good... pink floyd is good too, but it sure is depressing... but hey, depressing is not a bad thing too. it's kind of good depressing... it's all good.
herbalvegas 2 years ago
you're suprised to see how stupid can someone be?
I guess we know who's incredibly stupid now don't we.
Hallucination 2 years ago
What a moronic comment. Yeah cause the people who don't like the band's music are sitting at home thinking "gee I really should get tickets to U2 so I can see that stage" You're an idiot.
Hallucination 2 years ago
hey stupid! I didn't say i didn't like them. I said PF was way better.
but I dont expect you to understand that concept. you are an idiot.
natural 2 years ago
No loser. You said
-"I'm suprised to see how stupid can someone be?"-
In regards to one's opinion that U2 is better than Pink Floyd. First of all this makes you a jackass to sugggest people are stupid based on their musical taste and secondly you're an idiot who can't even form a proper sentence . The irony of it all is you're the one saying how suprised you are at how stupid others can be, yet you can't even form the sentence properly to express that.
Hallucination 2 years ago 3
No, the irony of it all is that you are criticizing someone else of not being able to form a sentence, yet you yourself can't even spell easy words like "suggest" or "surprised".
As I said, you are an idiot.
natural 2 years ago
see people like you are what makes society suck. At no point did I claim to be a genius. A missing "r" and an extra "g" are obvious typeo's however. You on the other hand are a loser who calls out people for being stupid based on which band they prefer. It's clear you're an ass.
Hallucination 2 years ago
I saw Roger Waters in Omaha and then in Dallas either show was more moving than the U2 show I saw in Norman. A couple who flew in from Chicago to see U2 for the second time in Norman said the Norman show was better. I would pay to see Waters or Gilmore again but not $100 to see U2 again.
acd712 2 years ago
...Seems like you like to see shows from people who hasn't recorded a single succesful album since 1980...I'll stick with the ones that are still at their peak, and not just living out of royalties from songs written back in the seventies...Not even PF closes U2 performing live, PF shows sound exactly the same on CD...U2 improves their catalogue platin live...now go get some sleep grand pa...let the young see their idols...yours are dying...
