Imo, having Kanno work on music along with you alone is cause enough to be excited about the singer.
I've listened to a fair number of the artists she's worked with to varying degrees and they're all wonderful vocalists each with their own fortes. I wouldn't rate any of them as being worse than the others.
@jerryku well, May'n's career was better of than Megumi before Macross F, so really, the starting point is different. but judging by Megumi's recent few performance, I say she's getting better.
@jerryku given, I still feel Megumi's Aimo is better, sure May'n is a better vocalist, but for Aimo you really need an naive and sort of inexperienced voice, and for that, well you know. but nothing beats Maaya's Aimo, too bad she only sang it for like 20 seconds.......
Yoko Kanno wrote the music for this series as well hence the similar music style. You can see a lot of them performed in concert on the blu-ray she sells on her website.

it seems like May'n's career is taking off more than Megumi's after Macross Frontier. I like Megumi's voice more, poor Megumi :(
