  • Thanks so much for this! It is very informative and I am definitely going to try this out!

  • How do you liquefy the soap? Is there a specific water and hard soap ratio?

  • When she pulled that soap out it scared me lol

  • Where do you buy your soap?

    Great video. Very informative.

  • Great video! Very informative!

    I subbed

  • Thank you! Will purchase.

  • ever time i look at that soap i want to eat it

  • Thank you so much for this video...I love how you explain what the soap is and how it is made. And, most importantly, you answered my #1 question...can I use it on my 3-yr-old daughter. Wonderful video. Thanks again.

  • I can't believe that this is the first video I played on black soap and this young lady was right on all accounts even somethings I didn't really know about the black soap. Very informative. A++++

  • Thanks for the video hunny! :)

  • Wonderful video!

  • is that soap or a rock

  • Very informative.

  • Can you use Black soap on its own? If not, what is the name of the moisterizer you use to go with it?

  • I have just started using the raw organic natural Black soap. Your explanation is very explicit and informative. I like the darker version better than the lighter version that I have seen. Thank you for clarifying the minute differences between the types. I also love your videos on shea butter. Your no nonsense descriptive infomercials are priceless. I am so grateful to you and the time that you take to be prepared, researched and willing to share. Sista, you are the ticket! Much Respect

  • Hi there, I have purchase the "Black Soap" from Coastal Scents dot com and the soap "TAMA" is 30% shea butter, yay! great for my skin. Then I made liquid soap for bathing, easier than the whole bar for me. Hot water and a jar, bingo, melts nicely. Thank you so much for your time and knowledge, priceless. By the way, check on ebay n around for prices, some foks will try and get you very badly! Thanks again...TRACK

  • Thank you so much, I haave learned alot. Informative and your skin if no makeup is on, beautiful!...TRACK

  • Hey this video was informative thank you. Just wondering where you buy your black soap from?

  • I'm white and older and you have the BEST video on this soap. this is the best soap

    thank you

  • great video. I'm wondering if they have this black soap here in Madagascar, thats where I am living now. I have to find out the name in French / Malagasy though. I see soap this color in the markets here.

  • Young lady, your videos are so educational and informative and you speak with such eloquence. Now correct me if i'm wrong but English may not be your 1st language right? Well I must say that you command the English language with such grace and speak it better than some of us who're supposed to speak it everyday. Keep doing what you're doing and educating us. I appreciate the videos and will continue watch.

  • your accent is so prettyyyy

  • Very informative! Thanks!

  • Thank You for sharing!

  • I just purchased some for discoloration and acne spots on my daughter. The one I have is by RA Cosmetics. The ingredients are as listed....pure honey, shea butter, osun(carmwood), cocoa pod powder, plantain peel powder, palm kernel oil, coconut oil, water, aloe vera. Im thinking this my be less drying? What do you think about this recipe? Thanks! All comments and opinions welcomed!

  • Thank you so much for also mentioning that black soaps differ based on the country they made as a lot of people think there is only one type of black soap. This video was by far very informative. I use the Nigerian black soap and I love it, wish I could get my hands on the raw shea butter but it is close to impossible. I stay in South Africa and ordering from the US or UK works out to be more expensive for me.

  • some raw black soap does not contain shea butter! alot of them are just water, coconut oil, cocoa pod ash & palm oil. ive not ordered a bar which has 50% shea so i will try that out and see if its less drying. works great all the same but iam sure their must be a difference.

  • You are so cute!! lol

  • Thank you for this...i had no idea it was used for newborns thats cool!

  • Hi Gabrielle! Could you please tell me how you would change the soap into liquid form so that I can use it with those "puff" things. The soap produces good foam but I don't want to loose any pieces in the "puff" scrub. ( Sorry, I don't know what that thing is called.) Thanks.

  • what is the difference between the solid soap and the soap that looks like a paste. It says African Black Soap 100% on it and its not suppose to have any additional things in it. Would like to hear your thoughts if any.

  • Asante for the review

  • this soap sounds very good. but is it safe to use it. i mean if you buy it raw from the local people do they pay attention to the sanitary environment when they make it? can you catch some from diseases it?

  • this is great! thanks so much for sharing

  • Very well put and you should cast yourself in the next Nefertiti movie role ASAP lol

  • what is the best place or site to get black soap from raw?

  • thank you so much! this is so informative

  • How do you make it into a liquid??...can you please advise...

  • nice video thanks for it!

  • Can you tell me the different between African She Butter Black Soap and African Black Soap?

  • Thank you for sharing this knowledge. I find it very informative. Also, I found that the black soap lathered well but burned a little bit. I would advise others with sensitive skin to be careful and rinse well.

  • Great video!!! Helpful explanation to those that may be new to the "real" black soap. I absolutely love this soap and buy it by the pounds. I have been using it for years and always share with family and friends. Thanks again for the great explanation.

  • Very well explained, in fact more than I expected!!! I started using it last Friday and already loving it!!! Can u post how to liquify it???

  • I just ordered some black soap from Nasabb. I can't wait to try it. Thanks for the wonderful information.

  • Thanks for explaining what is in it. I love this stuff!! I noticed a difference in a few days, and it is my new staple product.

  • Hi, thanks for explaining and giving us knowledge :) i bought some ABS based on some of the feedback and I'm hoping it will work to clear up my face - i have tiny rash-like bumps that flare up every week no matter what cleanser I'm using, so I'm crossing my fingers :x (and lips, lol) until i see the results. great video.

  • bless you for this video !

  • Great informative video! By the way, your ring and necklace are so pretty what brands are they?

  • Does the african people who makes these soaps own the business? Or do they work for someone and if so who? thanks.

  • hi there, awesome video. i wanted to find out. i live in singapore and it's pretty humid here. can i use this soap? Also, my face has breakouts every other day, so would this be a good choice to try out this soap. i am planning to get the unrefined shea butter and add that to my skin care regime. do you recommend this? as i live in singapore, the only place i can get these both items is from coastal scents - is that reliable enough?

  • very informative and very helpful, thank you.

  • Thank you so much for educating us! I have heard about black soap but was afraid to try it! Thanks for giving us the background :) By the way, you have a beautiful accent!

  • great job! i love ur name because my older sister's name is also Gabrielle. Where are u from sis?

  • good jod describing the ingredients, btw my older sister's name is also Gabrielle. where are u from?

  • Which black soap has better quality between the light and the dark? Thanks!

  • nice video. Please let me make a little adjustment here. the ash is not directly used in making the African Black Soap. It is the liquide decanted from the ash; meaning that ash is mixted with water and the mixture is filtered. So the "filtra"which can be clair liquid to yellow deponding of the type things burnt, is boiled and to a certain consitensy before the oils are added. I hope this is clear and helpful.

  • i love the soap, it's amazing...thank you

  • if it contains so many oils and what not how is it very drying to skin?...and could it possibly burn your skin...i saw another person say they've heard people say it burned their skin? oh and does it thoroughly clean your body or should you use regular soap behind it?

  • Hi! I've read a lot of great reviews about African black soap but I have also come across several reviews where the reviewers claimed they've gotten burned by the soap. I'm thinking it's the lye from the ashes. Is it possible that not all soaps are mixed well and so certain parts of the soap contain too much ash and certain parts are mixed just right?

  • Great video, most American dont understand the true process of the black soap and what it is suppose to do and how it works.everyone has also added lots of informative information according to your geographical area.

  • Hello, I have been using Ambi black soap for about two years and I like it. But I bought some black soap from some one on youtub and it burns the check bone area on my face. I'm thinking maybe I need to add extra oils to it like you stated in your video. I'm not sure. I need your advice. Also, how do you melt the black soap.

  • @pinkwolf78. Me too! It really does not get any better than this. Thanks for watching and blessings!

  • Hey gaby does this african soap help get rid of dark spots? where can I buy it?

  • @ImanJones22 ...Yes, it does. It i very potent though so your skin might need some time to adjust. I think Coastal scents has it but try a sample size to be on the safe side!

  • you have a pretty accent!

  • my skin is too dry for this stuff but i really like the smell

  • @MacNymph....As long as you keep the soap away from moisture, it should have a shelf life of at least 2 years. I have had a batch last about 20 months with no problem. And the best thing is that the potency does not diminish as long as moisture is kept at bay. The women who labor endlessly in harsh conditions make little to no profit at all from their work. Co-corporations are taking advantage of them. Buy only from a company that pays the women fairly and treats them well. Hope this helps....

  • LOVLEY EXPALATION HONEY

  • @Junior1luv..... Thanks .....I really treid my best!

  • Your videos have taught me so much! Thank you very much! The shea butter and black soap have eliminated my eczema and cleared up my face. YAY!

    :)

  • @fslayer1290 ...Yaaaay! I am so happy for you. It is amazing how much difference the simplest of natural products can make....And than you for the kind words...

  • i love your channel. you really are providing the most "education" i've seen on yt regarding african products.

  • @expertonmyself...Thank you....I realized that there is a lot of confusion here on YT and I was already using these products so I thought why not share what I know....Glad it is helpful...

  • Great video and you have a very beautiful accent! I LOVE your sweater, where did you buy it?

  • @Laucraw ...Thanks a bunch hun...The sweater is from Daffy's. 100% cashmere for 25 dollars... a bargain if you ask me. Check out Daffy's if you have one near you. Hope that helps....

  • omg love this video!! u give such an informative video!! totally subbing to ur channel gurlie!! lol be blessed and thank u sooo much for the info. just ordered some, hopefully it'll help me out. :D *fingers crossed*

  • @Jperk23 ....Thanks! Did you order the soap? Hopefully you have had great result with it. Please let us know how it is going for you.....everyone's experience is a lesson for the rest of us...

  • I really appreciate your video..very informative. =) and you look great!

  • @hunnedfourthstreet ....Aaaaawah...thank you...smiles!

  • Hi Duchess,

You are so pretty, love your skin and your accent :). I have one question about african black soap: you say it is moisterizing and suitable for even sensitive skin types. On the other hand you say it can dry out your skin.

I use black soap on my skin and hair. Funny enough it seems to make my skin feel a bit dry, but I use shea butter after the shower and it feels great. When I use it on my hair I delute it with water and add lavender oil (just for the smell).

  • @MagicStyleAtelier ..It can be drying based on the condition of your skin and the fact that you are introducing a new product to your skin and also depending on where it was made. If the women used a lot of ash then it tends to be more acidic and drying.Following up with Shea is an excellent idea since Shea can very easily counteract any dryness caused by the soap. I use this combination too!

  • @MagicStyleAtelier ...Oh..And that you for the compliment about my skin and accent....I appreciate it...

  • @DuchessGabrielle

You are very welcome! Thanks for taking the time to answer my question :)

  • Another question, I know u said u don't have a US seller 4 Black Soap, but do u know is there anyone I should definitely avoid. I'm looking at HalalEveryday but am uncertain of their knowledge of t heir own products.

BTW, for any1 learning about natural and organic products, I've also recently discovered two YouTubers who seem knowledgeable . They seem trustworthy and wellspoken and their info complements DuchessGabrielle's. Check bluemolases and UndergroundWellness...Thanks again Duchess!

  • @slgraycols I love undergroundwellness. Sometimes he is doing too much, but he gets me started on my own research pretty well.

  • @quitejaded.... Oh I will be sure to check him out...Bet I can pick up lots of new info from him....Thanks slgraycols for mentioning this....

  • @slgraycols ...Thank you for the inform about the other Youtuber's....I will definitely check them out. The thing with organic and home made products is that it is a learning process and each of us can definitely grab something from the others experiences.... I really have no idea who you should avoid but lately I have heard good things about coastal scents, maybe you check there if you haven't already found a reliable supplier?

  • Hi Duchess, Just discovered ur vids and LOVE them. I trust the POV ur coming from. I have questions though. In another vid, u said really yellow Shea butter could possibly have toxic dyes in it. Do I have to worry about similar contamination & unrevealed additives in Black Soap, esp as it becomes more popular? What fragrances do you add to ur own black soap? Do U use it every day? Glycerine has some controversy, what else would u use to mix instead? Thanks so much and keep it up!!!!

  • @slgraycols ....Thanks a bunch honey...Yes, worry..a lot. And question everything you buy from the source to actual ingredients, this is the only sure way to protect yourself. Depending on the mood, I will either add lavender, lemon grass, sweet orange, peppermint....I use anything I like. I also use the black soap as the bathroom soap so I will go stronger on the fragrance there so as not to freak people who have no clue what that is out......You can use honeyquat or aloe vera gel/juice.

  • Very informative. I just purchased some black soap and I can't wait to start using it.

  • @shortybang10 ....Any luck with your black soap experience?

  • hey Gabrielle habari ya mrembo. Plz help me get one coz i can´t get the soap in German. Thank you.

  • @kware5000....Niko poa, hope you have not given up....You want some black soap? I can see about sending you a sample. You try first then if you like it we can arrange something. What do you think? Send me a message in the in box then we can work out the detail, ama?

  • @kware5000

    unaweza buy online ama afroshop..

  • Where can I find this raw black soap? I usually purchase the black seed african soap by nubian.

  • @StarrQuality1... I have heard good things from the Coastal scents batch. Check them out...

  • Great video...very informative.

  • no.... coconuts come from coconut trees. Palm trees DO NOT YEILD COCONUTS!

  • @lalanlanjay No offense at all, but Coconut trees are a type of palm tree. PALM is just a family trees. Coconut is the particular species. I think depending on where you are from, you generally associate whatever is the most abundant palm tree as the main palm tree, if that makes since.

  • Comment removed

  • @niabutterfly79...Yeah, it actually makes a lot of sense. And no I am not offended..I am human and allowed to make mistakes and I appreciate the correction. In Kenya, we are so used to called the Coconut tree a palm tree. I know it is not and I forgot to mention that here in the video. Thanks again for the correction...

  • thanks for video.

  • thank you

  • great vid!

  • Thank you so much, you are pretty and very informative. About how much would a pound of the Black Soap cost me?

  • You are very beautiful, smart, and well spoken! I really enjoyed this video and will check out the rest of your channel :)

  • Thanks, a very informative video, where do you get your soap from?

  • @cocoluv33..Unfortunately...it comes all the way from back home in African. I am still looking for vendors that are trustworthy here in the US for my subbies. Sorry, I can't be of more help with that one....

  • @DuchessGabrielle

Please let us know when you find a vendor that you are comfortable with. I will trust your recommendations. Thank you for sharing.

  • @sheree20708 you can buy REAL black soap at sunaroma.com!!!! its really cheap for the amount you get. they also have shea butter for 3.50 for 1 lb!!!!!

  • @cocoluv33 You could purchase it from coastalscents . com or afrikanrepublic . com

  • @cocoluv33

Check out butters n bars (dot) com

  • hi Dushes, do you have a recipe fpr you liquid black soap that is in the bottle?

  • Please Help... I received and started using my african black soap Wednesday. I'm definitely noticing an improvement in my skin... but I fear it is to harsh (burns & extremely drying) for my skin in it's raw state. I do very much wish to continue using it, but I know I will need to dilute it to do so. I've watched you ABS Moisture Shampoo video and will be trying that soon. What modifications would I need to make/would you suggest in order to use it on my face. Thanks

  • @doucwhaic .....Black soap can be extremely drying even on oily skin. What is your skin type? Because that will determin what modifications you can make. I suggest my method which is watering down your soap to 30% black soap, 50% distilled water and 20% vegetable glycerin. You can use honeyquat instead of the glycerin. It has twice the moisturizer power of glycerin. This formula just adds moisture without interfering with soap properties.I hope that helps...

  • @DuchessGabrielle Hi if Black soap can be so drying then why is good for us? Do u know what makes it drying is it the palm oil? Thanks

  • @doucwhaic moisturize immediately after washing...after a few weeks the problem will stop

  • I love ur channel.. u do a great job

  • @simplystunning00....Thanks hun...Smiles!!

  • how do you go about converting it into a liquid?

  • @NotoriousLYNappy1 ...depends on what I want to use it for. I have a moisturizing black soap vid. That is one way..I slightly modify for my face and body wash but the concept is still the same....

  • @DuchessGabrielle Hello, thanks for your response. If you need help doing so i can help you for free. Meaning to setup your website etc... I think you should considered it because alot of people would like to buy the right shea buter and black soap.

  • I got some black soap from Harlem yesterday and when I got home, I noticed it was in paste form. Is that uncommon because I've only seen it in the block form?

  • @miizDOPE .....Black soap should be a solid and not paste...I would be very weary about a paste because you what they used to make it that way. If you can, go back and ask the vendor how come it is in that state...be careful with it until you know for sure...

  • Thanks for the review. I just received one yesterday that I ordered from Coastal Scents. Today was my first day trying it...hope it works out! ;-)

  • @SexyToria ..I hope it works too.. Let us know what you think. You can post a video response if you like. You never know whom you might help out here in YT world...

  • i absolutely luv luv luv this soap. i use it everyday!!!!!

  • @heygracee ...Pure and natural..It doesn't get any better than that...Glad it has worked you...Yayyyy!!

  • Hello DuchessGabrielle, thank you for the video. It's very imfomative. Why don't you open your own online store and sell Black Soap, Shea Butter and Black Soap shampoo. Seeing that you know where to get these products.

  • @Jeneva99 ....I might consider that somewhere down the line....If I do, it will be in direct r/ship with the women who toil endlessly in Africa to make it...If can help them out then I would do it in a heart beat....

  • Thanks for this video. I bought some black soap and wasn't sure exactly how to use it for my skin.

  • @whateverta316 ...Oh glad I could help out....I hope it works for you as well as it has for me...

  • @Duchess. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I will talk to the manufactorers The color of my butter is in between your yellow and off white butters in your other video. It's quite pale But I will contact them. Thanks again

  • Hey thanks for the fast reply. I have got oily acne prone skin. Now i see why the jojoba oil breaks me out. What about sunflower seed oil?

  • @ebony5b ....If acne is a big issue for you...go with grapeseed oil. It's moisturizing but not oily. Hazle nut is another good one; it's very gentle and non oily. Sunflower has high amounts of Vitamins A, D, and E and is highly recommended for recipes designed to treat dry, weathered, aged, and damaged skin.

  • @ebony5b ...Sunflower is commonly recommended for dry, withered and age skin. If you are acne prone go with a moisturizing but non-oily oil. Hazel nut and Grapeseed oils would be my recommendation.

  • Hey. Your videos are sooo informative. I just bought two pounds of what I "thought" was Shea. And it was a pale yellow. It was from an extremely reputable fair trade company. They claim the Shea is from Uganda. The smell isn't pungent but it smells slightly nutty it us also creamy but melts quickly in room temp ( my rooms is like 75 degrees) but because it's yellow should I return it?

  • @polifonyann ...Uganda is next door to Kenya so this is the Shea butter I know best of all.... Shea butter might have a slightly yellow or mint green undertone to it but it is not yellow. Try looking at it in broad daylight just to be sure. I wouldn't call it creamy but rather a light fat that readily melts.. You could just call them up and ask questions about it before making a decision if to return or not...hope that helps...

  • It is very drying for my face thus breaking me out. Someone suggested i melt it and add oils. So which oils would you recommend?

  • @ebony5b...It's not exactly melting it down..more like watering it down.... I don't know what your skin type is so it's hard to recommend oils but if you are dry like me..go with Jojoba, Sweet Almond, Macadamia nut, Avocado, Kukui nut or wheat germ..If you are oily; Grapeseed, Rosehip, Apricot Kernel and Camelia oils..hope that helps...

  • this i a great, informative vid! i've been wantint to try black soap, but i'm leery of the people selling it around here. how do i know its REAL afrikan black soap?! LOL! can you talk a little more about how you liquify it?

  • @lillydot ...I don't blame you for being leery...in fact..that is the way you should be when making purchases of the butters or the soap. I have heard some horror stories. I will do a video on simple tests for the soap and how I liquefy for my body compared to how I liquify for my hair... Thanks hun!

  • I use this from head to toe in liquid form. I love it!

  • @learningorganically ...It's fantastic...I wish more people knew what they are missing out on!!

  • You did an awesome job explaining the African Black Soap. Very well done.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • @PrincessAnthea1 ...Thanks hun...I appreciate your comment...

  • Lovely explanation!

  • @ASCAntonio ..Thanks..glad I could help..

  • your video is great and very informative. I recently just begun to start using 100% african black soap & so far so good, but i was wondering, for a moisturizer, could i use 100% cocoa butter instead of shea butter? i use cocoa butter upon my face for some of the dark spots i have.

  • @JaylaLashone ..Oh absolutely...there are no rules just experimenting and trying to figure out what works for your skin best. I love cocoa butter as well. And I use all three butter together or interchangeably.. Thanks for the compliment...

  • i just love ur videos

  • @jajana1000 ...Thank you...you are very kind.

  • Thanks so much! I'm still trying to find the best raw african black soap for my skin. I found a soap that also has 48% shea butter like yours, but do you moisturize with shea butter after? The soap is so potent. Thanks! :)

  • @odeelici0uso..Yes, the black soap is potent (which is amazing that it is that strong without a drop of sulphate). I always follow up with a strong moisturizer..I have mixed equal portions of Shea and African butter. The combination of black soap and the butter is all my face needs....Some people feel that the soap is drying so I always advise to follow up with a good moisturizer for your body and face...just in case!

  • i'm so happy a sister from the motherland did a review on this soap. I use this soap myself and follow up with shea butter or unprocessed cocoa butter. I buy mine from the african store or friends buy it for me when they travel back home. The Ghana black soap is the best...i don't like the one from my country (Nigeria). It's too drying....PS...i love your review.

  • Thank girl...and I wouldn't let this opportunity pass. The black soap and beautiful butters are just another one of Africa's nature finest gifts....of course we should should our lungs out about it....lol

  • i just bought some from a company called remedica for my acne, i have been using it for 2 days so i cant judge it just yet, but i did notice it really doe a great job cleaning my face, so it being 100% natural and doing a splendid cleaning job it gets a 5/5 from me!!! :)

  • Thanks..and I am glad you find something pure, natural and works! Doesn't get any better than that!

  • beautiful vid and very informing, thank you

  • Where would you recommend that I buy this?

  • @odeelici0uso..Oh dear..I wouldn't know. I get it from family back at home. I would recommend you do your research though...Because of their popularity, scrupulous business are attempting to manufacture the soap here with all sorts of weird stuff in it, waxes and dyes are also being added to butters so be careful....I hope that helps...(even if a little!)

  • I really appreciate you taking the time to explain the different shea butters and the black soap. I have always wanted to try it but was too nervous to try it. I will definitely get some now. Thanks again and keep the tutorials coming. They are very informative.

  • @nettiegonehealthy ...you are welcome honey. I am glad I could help. If you have questions about African products I might be able to help figure it out so don't hesitate to ask. Thanks, you are very sweet.

  • I use it every nyte...amazing stuff & i notice that alot of companies are mixing their own formula`s. try it guys but be gentle cause its very potent when you first use it, your skin will need to adjust.

  • @kvocalist... I agree...I actually add some moisturizing oil to the soap then liquify it with distilled water. It really depends on where (read village) the soap came from..the one I have right now is from Ghana, very potent but earlier I had one from Togo that was 48% Shea butter..never needed to add a thing to it. Asking for ingredients when you purchase is a good way to evaluate the soap. Always follow with a good moisturizing lotion/face cream...just in case!

  • Yes i always tell people to buy the liquid soap in a bottle if the raw kind is to strong...i think my face is so use to the raw kind now, follow up with shea & its great...love those two products, they are deffo cousins in skin care lol.

  • Thanks alot for this informing vid. I'll definitely try it :)

  • @elrania ...I hope it works for you as well it has worked for me....Say something when you try it...good luck and thanks for your appreciation.
