Yes! We Filipinos believed on this. We called them "Duwende" or the Leprechaun. Sometimes they possesed people also. We usually called Faith Healer to expell the spirit out sometimes it work and sometime it doesn't. And we have a what you called "Kapre" supposed to be a big giant horse sitting upright on a tree smoking/puffing a big cigars. And a "Mana-nangal" a human being with a bat wings half body that fly around at night.
