  • The banning of darvon is part of the statists war against peoples right to die. that is why the drug was banned. darvon mixed with benzos was an available method of self deliverance. fundamentalists want death to be degrading. i am a libertarian, BAN THE FDA

  • I just saw the recall on TV about Darvon. I would like to know if Anyone out there knows if there is a Canadian class action suit or cash settlement being offered here in Canada. My mother died when I was 15, leaving me, my brothers 13 and 8 at the time without a parent as we had no father. I would love to know if somehow we can now be compensated financially? Back then we didn't even qualify for an orphan's allowance, she hadn't been working long enough when she died.

  • I took Co-proxamol/ Darvocet for years after a severe sports injury and can assure you that the claim that it is ‘no more effective’ than aspirin, paracetamol, etc. is simply not true. Even my doctor was highly sceptical about that. It is more like tramadol in its effectiveness. It can make you very slightly light-headed, but if this is what the puritanical, doom-laden Anglo-Saxon medical mind regards as ‘euphoria’, God help us. I await their next paper: ‘Pain can be fun’.

  • Darvocet/Co-proxamol is available in Greece, but the authorities there take an extremely dim view of codeine-based medicines. The Australian government website advises: ‘Codeine is banned in Greece – do not attempt to bring headache products or painkillers with codeine through customs, and only bring prescription medicines with codeine if you also have a doctor’s statement asserting that the medicine is essential…’ Conversely, UK doctors hand them out like sweets.

  • Polish people in the UK call British doctors ‘Doctor Paracetamol’, as they offer paracetamol for practically anything. There have been open letters in the Polish press questioning the competence of the British medical profession, particularly after a substantial number of mis-diagnoses: patients being told that they had minor ailments, or that ‘nothing was wrong’, but not trusting the British GP and flying to Poland only to find out that they had cancer or required immediate surgery.

  • Why not attack paracetamol (acetaminophen) itself? Thirty 500mg tablets of this can kill you, but it is still on sale over the counter AND is now the recommended alternative to Darvocet/Co-proxamol in the UK, along with a few dubious prescription drugs such as Co-codamol and Co-dydramol, which, in addition to codeine phosphate or dihydrocodeine, contain 500mg of acetaminophen/paracetamol, in contrast to only 325mg of acetaminophen/paracetamol in the now-banned Darvocet/Co-proxamol.

  • The possession of a PhD is no guarantee of talent, or, indeed, of common sense. On ‘The Apprentice’ every other week Donald Trump, Lord Sugar and their various counterparts on other TV networks fire someone with a PhD for a catastrophic failure of common sense, with a qualified surgeon, for example, being fired last year for managing to deliver 16 bread rolls to a client out of an order for one thousand. Even the most lax university would not consider 0.16% a pass.

  • I'm more concerned about acetaminophen (e.g., Tylenol). It's The Leading Cause of Acute Liver Failure in the US and UK.

It caused 51% of acute liver failures in 2003, but left out those who died from taking acetaminophen with alcohol - The combination is significantly worse than either, as the two combine in the liver and block each other's metabolism, but all liver disease among drinkers are routinely ascribed to alcoholism.

  • i dont want these fancy words just tell straight up which ones are the worst, i know meth, and coke are extremely bad what other ones ???

  • You Jokers are the worst. Investigating a B rate pain killer that helps more than hurts. Congrats guys for doing nothing but hurting peop;e.

  • Ive been taking this drug (co-proxamol) for 28 years and have tried every other pain med on the market including morhphine tablets you put under tongue, and have not yet found a substitute. The problem with this drug is not the drug, its the idiots that use the drug with alcohol and other drugs to get an high. yes they can kill if not used right but withdraw the drug, just because some people mix it with booze. i now have co-proxamol/darvocet under a specilal prescription after a 2 year battle.

  • It is well kown among doctors all over the world that this drug kills. The drug came out on the market 1957, early 60th the first fatal poisoning came.

If you listen the whole video you can learn a lot about this terrible drug. No drug in the historý has ever killed so many persons. That the bitter truth

  • never heard of darvocet KILLING ANYONE EVER! VICODIN ES,OXCOTIN ....YESSSSSSSSS NEVER DARVOCET THIS IS INSANE FINDINGS AND UNACCEPTABLE FOR PPL TAKING IT NOW DR'S SAY TO TAKE OVER THE COUNTER TYLENOL TO REPLACE THIS????????? What craziness is to follow for these poor patients next......WE WANT BETTER ANSWERS THAN THIS!

  • A doctor prescribed me a combination of propoxyphene, among with librium to help deal with opiate withdrawal and it worked good enough for me. I am still alive after 37 years. I do not think it should be illegal where there is an informed consent between doctor and patient. The withdrawal from darvon is minimal (if any) in contrast with other forms of detoxification. Yes, I am aware that it can cause seizures or a cardiac, but this happened when mixed with alcohol and/or codeine or just abused.

  • Part 3.

The Swedish authorities accepted our research, the UK authorities and the Medical Product Agency in the EU – European Union - also accepted our results. But FDA – think as they are the Big brother – themselves – knowing everything best. And during the time they hesitate thousands of people have die. I think you people in the US should think about that.

  • Part 2.

To get the alarming results know outside the academic world we wrote a popular science version of our research – that we started 1993 – the name of the book is “Fatalities due to use or misuse of painkillers”. And to get the results know more over the world we did this video to YouTube. This YouTube video is a way to be a bit provocative – as I am - and I am very confident with our results. Nobody that knows about research has ever had a negative point of view about our research.

  • Part 1.

    Dear Friends,

I would like to inform you that we both – Birgitta and Ulf Jonasson – are PhD´s, we wrote 8 scientific articles about this painkilling substance – Propoxyphene - and they were published in international scientific magazines. We also wrote and defended our dissertations, 2000 and 2001in Sweden.

  • They may be 'PHD's not medical doctors' but this doesn't mean that the dangers of Darvon and Darvocet are to be ignored. Sure, we are intelligent to make up our own minds, which is why there is no reason why this video shouldn't be a valid as an information source. The propoxyphene painkiller has been recalled in Europe, the US, and Canada - I don't think therefore, that this video is in any way overegging the pudding, do you? There are even potential lawsuits over it

  • Dude, we're adults here. We can make our on decisions. You're PHD's not medical doctors. What medicine hasn't caused deaths? research that one, bud!

  • jeeeeesuuus i just want to hear the side effects

  • I have had another copy of this video on YouTube, but there has been a problem with the noice, I do hope it works now. The former video was on YouTube from Nov 28th, 2007 until today Aug 2nd, 2010. There were 10 782 unic visits. Not so bad
