rawdonhater you must be playing these clips from you piece of crap computer speakers. Marc Russo and vocals are the majority of what makes this song great. Uraidot
HRH Diana Princess of Wales was here in Scotia (Halifax August 83) and did in fact carry on to PA - and that surely is her in this video. One imagines she was directed to this gig by Mr Elton John, steadfast TOP admirer, and phone friend to Di. But the prince of the proceedings is the cat at the mike, Michael Jeffries. I find him absolutely the equal of the great Mr Williams; larry brent ellis tom ed hubert rick and rufus: pros with fine moments. final metric: the look Diana gives
I was listening to "Direct" and noticed the slap and pop style, I was sure the bass player wasn't Rocco. Indeed, it was a different bassman. Vito San Filippo did a great job on the bass guitar here, it's a different flavor of TOP.
Wish there were more clips. This was probably the greatest club to date. The Chestnut probably had the best acoustics for any nightclub with a great living room atmosphere. Offhand short list: John Lee Hooker, Marshall Crenshaw, the Neville Brothers, NRBQ(Ben Vaughan opening), Paul Carrack with Nick Lowe, and Fela(a concert, rally and pageant combined). A real shame, but a lot of clubs have come and gone.
