I hate to be a photo nerd but at 9:33 he's comparing the camera of the phones and the angle of the picture is different. The phone at the top is picking up the light from the ceiling and the other camera because of its angle on the subject isn't. It's a poor test unless you take the same shot from the same angle with each camera.

I have a thunderbolt myself. Great phone shitty battery life but great nonetheless. I have owned various phones including the iPhone4 and 4s (over rated and crappy phone) and I have never been happier than with my tbolt. The charge has a crappy design a smaller screen and crap camera. I'll stick with the tbolt.......even if I have to charge it every 15 minutes.
I had them both. Thunderbolt is a paper weight if you don't charge it every 3 hours. Its a freaking lan line to me. Then you have to switch between 3 g and 4 g to get that much batter life. I know I owned one. I still own it. The charge to me is just as fast if not faster and the screen looks better. For the little stuff your using the phone for who needs the added processing power. You can go to the beach and enjoy your faster HTC phone for an hour or the charge for the whole day. Charge.

samsung droid charge is a scam. Samsung will not say when or if they are upgradeing it to the 2.3.4. They say they dont know when or if they will even do it. Thats BS dont waste your money on samsung phones, They are netouriously BAD about updates to the phones witch are ESSENTIAL for user friendly interfaceing and prolonged batterie life.

This review actually was the what made me get my charge. It was my birthday and i was choosing between the thunderbolt and charge. So far i am super glad i got the charge. The screen in excellent the battery life is top notch and i dont have lag going through my phone so i see no reason why i need the extra power. Yes the UI is indeed crap but all i did was get launcher pro and it works like a charm. I havent really tried out the thunderbolt but i am not looking back with my charge.
I am in the market for a new Verizon phone and these are probably the two best options in 4G phones from Verizon, but my Motorola Droid X smokes those phones in performance tests. I just ran Quadrant Standard and got a score of 1780.
the photo vs. wasn't great the Charge was held farther back and took more of a picture so you could pick out issues with it more. but otherwise i thought it was a great review and i think both phones are great.
I had the epic with the super amoled screen and that's really all samsungs phones have to offer. they had to put a 1600 mili amp battery in the charge to power the screen alone. The phone itself is laggy and so was my epic. They would both get incredibly hot and I had to have my epic replaced twice from overheating. I do use my phone for media etc. but that's what it was made for. I decided to forget about the S.A. screen and go with the 8Gb internal memory of the ThunderBolt and I loveit

I like the screen on the Charge better but the HTC Thunderbolt is more powerful. That being said the HTC Thunderbolt had some major problems that supposedly have resolved with a recent update. Let's see if the recent EMERGENCY update fix the many problems with the HTC Thunderbolt.
A feature that I feel must be addressed first is that I am not an HTC fan. A key feature that I feel was left out is the internal space. The Charge has 2GB with a 32GB card. The Thunderbolt has a whopping 8GB internal with a 32GB card. for people with a lot of apps, like me, that is a big plus. I also feel the kickstand is not getting enough love. I would rather have more speed (Thunderbolt) than a brighter display. Plus if you get the extended battery for the Thunderbolt.....
@08mcmahillj it actually exceeds the battery life of the Charge (If properly conditioned. Dying completely before charging, not leaving plugged in too long, etc.) So everyone is bashing the battery life, when in all actuality, after the extended battery the phones are generally in the same price range and the same battery life range. I just feel that those were a few things missed and wanted to broaden the knowledge for people trying to choose between the two.
Just got the TB today and was GRANDFATHERED IN! YEE! Charge looks like and Iphone. I'm very happy with my TB choice and i'm ready to take on new gadget world in the next 2 yrs with this phone :D

I currently have a Thunderbolt. Heres the deal to all buyers. I've had 2 so far and have demanded a Charge. Why? Because both that I've had like to reboot, drop 10% of the already piss-poor battery life, and repeat during calls, texts and everything else. I prefer HTC's UI, but this is absurd to have to deal with this crap from such a prestigious company.
@Captainflowers1011 new update to 2.3 supposedly is going to fix the reboot issues and when ur not using the phone u can just turn off 4g to save battery. im on tmo right now and want the unlimited data on verizon on their really fast 4g network.
The Thunderbolt beat the Charge in every test you did. The only difference is better battery life and swype for the Charge. With that said, the battery life is huge.

That thunderbolt he has is sooo slow compared to mine. dont judge by this video. the thunderbolt has 768 MB of ram memory and the charge has 512 MB of ram memory and that is pretty much what matters when you are opening and closing or multitasking with apps.

Coming from someone who used the Thunderbolt and received a replacement phone within the first 2 weeks.. The software patch HTC has in it causes it to do reboots and freeze.. I called tonight and Im getting a new handset, the Droid Charge.. I know it will be better.

I've had both phones. Throat TB was great and sense kills touch wiz. But the battery,screen, and appearance go to the Droid. I sold my TB to get the Droid and so far i have no complaints.
Nice review. Just a tip though, don't explain and excuse so much. If you have to cough to clear your throat, just do it and move on...explaining only draws attention to it and spends more time on it. what the hell use does it do to compare the cameras' picture quality on the screens of the phones? transfer them to a computer and look at them on a monitor; that's how picture quality would be judged by the rest of the world. seriously what the hell
8:58 made up my mind. The brown cabinets look orange on the CHARGE, while actually brown on the Tunderbolt. Add that to the faster CPU/GPU benchmarks, and the HTC wins IMHO. Sadly, I'm more of a Galaxy S fan coming from Epic and Fascinate :\
i do not regret getting my thunderbolt, its a great phone overall and i think display shouldnt account for much of the points when people now look forward to speed
To see the true speed of Verizon's 4G LTE you should do the Speed Test on speakeasy. You should get 17-23 Mbps on both phones with Verizon in a major metropolitan area like LA!

In the benchmarks the thunderbolt won, Thunderbolt can wrap text thunderbolt has better (more realistic camera) so I like the thunderbolt. But after the thunderbolt won everything this guy picked out the charge as the winner. I really don't care about the screen. Truth be told the colors are way too bright

HTC Thunderbolt is, hands down, a better phone. The battery issue can be fixed with an extended battery or software tweaks. The Charge has a better screen, but that's it. I am migrating from my iPhone 4 to the Thunderbolt, at least temporarily. I just hope the TB will be a lot better than the Droid X, with which I was not impressed...

To be honest, I got a HTC thunderbolt. I went to verizon store yesterday to check the droid charge, finding the operation, touch, application access of HTC is much more smooth and fast than Droid charge. May I ask how long exactly does this droid charge last for, lets say--1 hour youtube, 1 hour talking, 1 hour internet browing per day; then how many days can this android charge last? My HTC supports 1 day.
I just got back from the Verizon store and was playing with the Droid Charge and noticed a big lag simply moving around the different home screens. Maybe it was the widgets slowing it down.
Thunderbolt is better now that the update went through. Battery life gives full day and minor bugs fixed. Runs smoother with bigger RAM and Qualcomm is designed to be faster maybe not as power efficient but oh well. The charge is excellent as well but the price is not backed up with what you get. The super lcd isn't that much worse than the super AMOLED

Coming from someone who used the Thunderbolt and received a replacement phone within the first 2 weeks.. The software patch HTC has in it causes it to do reboots and freeze.. I called tonight and Im getting a new handset, the Droid Charge.. I know it will be better.

I would expect the pic of the Charge to be less saturated than what the screen displays.

The S AMOLED+ screen is sooo much nicer than competition, even our iphone.
The phone I had before this was a droid x, so I do miss the mechanical shutter button but that is all.

I've had both phones. Throat TB was great and sense kills touch wiz. But the battery,screen, and appearance go to the Droid. I sold my TB to get the Droid and so far i have no complaints.

what the hell use does it do to compare the cameras' picture quality on the screens of the phones? transfer them to a computer and look at them on a monitor; that's how picture quality would be judged by the rest of the world. seriously what the hell

8:58 made up my mind. The brown cabinets look orange on the CHARGE, while actually brown on the Tunderbolt. Add that to the faster CPU/GPU benchmarks, and the HTC wins IMHO. Sadly, I'm more of a Galaxy S fan coming from Epic and Fascinate :\

To see the true speed of Verizon's 4G LTE you should do the Speed Test on speakeasy. You should get 17-23 Mbps on both phones with Verizon in a major metropolitan area like LA!

In the benchmarks the thunderbolt won, Thunderbolt can wrap text thunderbolt has better (more realistic camera) so I like the thunderbolt. But after the thunderbolt won everything this guy picked out the charge as the winner. I really don't care about the screen. Truth be told the colors are way too bright

HTC Thunderbolt is, hands down, a better phone. The battery issue can be fixed with an extended battery or software tweaks. The Charge has a better screen, but that's it. I am migrating from my iPhone 4 to the Thunderbolt, at least temporarily. I just hope the TB will be a lot better than the Droid X, with which I was not impressed...

But yeah i was on a previous web site and said it had a DUAL core processor but then i went back and found out it was false info . and was actually taking about the DROID that has been discontinued. But better News NVIDIA said Tablets will have quad core by summer and plan to release The first Quad Core Phones by christmas/early 2012 .

My previous "1 day" for HTC means 12 hours actually. As I am still in 14 days replace period, would u please give me some precise answer to the battery issue of samsung? If samsung lasts for around 24 hours with the same using, I think I would like to change to Samsung.

To be honest, I got a HTC thunderbolt. I went to verizon store yesterday to check the droid charge, finding the operation, touch, application access of HTC is much more smooth and fast than Droid charge. May I ask how long exactly does this droid charge last for, lets say--1 hour youtube, 1 hour talking, 1 hour internet browing per day; then how many days can this android charge last? My HTC supports 1 day.

I just got back from the Verizon store and was playing with the Droid Charge and noticed a big lag simply moving around the different home screens. Maybe it was the widgets slowing it down.

Thunderbolt is better now that the update went through. Battery life gives full day and minor bugs fixed. Runs smoother with bigger RAM and Qualcomm is designed to be faster maybe not as power efficient but oh well. The charge is excellent as well but the price is not backed up with what you get. The super lcd isn't that much worse than the super AMOLED
