is not a gipsy song. It's a romanian old song. from 1821 Tudor's revolution.

Thanks again. I have the English words to this song, it is sad but beautiful. Is there a story behind behind why it was written ? Was it about anyone or just about the 1821 war ?

it`s a song gathered from folklore...it`s a doina (see wikipedia), and probably it was sung during some uprisings...or by the hajduks/haiduks, the brigands.:)

probably it was famous during the years 1800 because that century was really very full with manyimportant things in our history(Tudor Vladimirescu, the revolution from 1848, the unification between Tara Romaneasca and Moldova in 1859, the Independence war from 1877 etc.) and it`s a song about rebirth and hope, for example the singer want the winter to go away and let the spring to come, because you know the spring is a rebirth.
