  • This is...:(((

  • I also want to comment on the "pulling horses back" comment below. I have heard this dozens of times in harness racing. When a driver is practically laying back in the sulky and pulling on the reigns, it actually means he is trying to get everything from his horse and not "holding him back". If a driver just sits in his sulky down the stretch, that is questionable. Again comments are coming from people that do not understand the sport.

  • Very misleading title - there are millions of harness races run annually in the USA and Canada. The sport is very safe and when there is a misfortunate accident like these videos show, they are one in thousands. The reason for the pileups is that the horses run in single file order unless they are making a move on the outside of the pack. You cannot compare harness racing to hurdles or jumps as far as safety goes. Just because someone posts 3 horrific accidents doesnt mean this is "normal".

  • All horse and dog racing is cruel and very dangerous, these horses just break down because they are pushed over their limits. Dog racing is just as bad, the conditions in which they are kept is disgraceful. Kept in small cages until the next race. All these animals are used like machines to get the fastest times possible. Some race horses are put to the test when they are about 1.5 to 2yrs of age! They are pushed and pushed, some just break down and end up being destroyed or sent to slaughter.

  • Oh I can't watch this... Why people use horses for competitions? And sorry for my english , i'm not good in english...

  • @hamsterakXXL i agree :'( iits so sad

  • :( It's very dangerous sport...

  • Poor horses... Horses are NOT bikes... But animals... Omg

  • The horses reacted faster to avoid the obstical then the drivers.. cool.

  • This sport is a bit fishy. You see the horse coming up to the finish line leading but the driver then begains to pull back. They seems to be all fixed races. No wonder they dont race at Los Alamitos or Fairplex anymore. Dirves should be honest.

  • I hate this type of horse racing, I prefer the one where the jockey is on their backs :L Atleast in flat and steeple chase racing they can throw the jockey off if they get distressed and break free somewhere. But in this type of racing, they can't go anywhere :/

  • Comment removed

  • i always hated this sport :( i do horse riding competitions i lose horses but racing never

  • THE POOR HORSES!!!!! i hate racing it is just abuse and the jockeys should always die instead of the horses

  • i'm not against the sport at all, i love flat and jump racing myself but i do worry that these harness horses have accidents and cannot free themselves. the last accident shown here proves my point as the horses are trapped on the ground in their harness'.

  • @vixitrixalina bloody hell jump racing is one of the worst sports eva invented at least every race meet there is a horse put down cause it couldnt jump cause it was tired running and jumping. they should ban jumping it way more dangerous

  • in part 1.35 does horses die? :0

  • "Very dangerous sport for horse and human"? In comparison to what? These horses are treated better than most eople and name me anything in life that doesn't involve a risk for someone.

Please don't hate on the sport unless you know what you're talking about.

  • @funshipM174 Better than most people? Last time I checked most people don't get whipped, or sent to the abattoir if they are past their best.

  • @tehgreyyy Do you know anything you are posting about? The whip doesn't even hit the horse. it hits the saddle pad. Wouldn't you think the horse would reat a little different if it was actually hitting him. Sort of like usuing a pot holder to take a hot item out of an oven. If the potholder wan't there, you would feel the eactua;;y heat (in this case the whip). Know what you talk about before you post.

  • I HATE harness racing >:( It should go to hell! It's very dangerous sport they should ban it :(

  • @123Secretariat It's ok... we hate you too ;)

  • @123Secretariat care to explain why harness racing is more dangerous than for example showjumping or barrelracing? i'm not trying to to be mean or anything, but i work with it, and it really isn't more dangerous than any other sport involving live animals

  • these guys should go to hell. poor horses

  • @nauraa000 not one single horse was injured in this video, and all of the horsemen involved are stand-up gentleman, now you are the one wishing them both to hell, who is more hell worthy now? moron

  • thats the problem with the harness racing. if even the slightest thing goes wrong or if two horses even touch for a second, horses, carts, and riders become airborne.

  • the last one broke my heart. that poor horse that got hammered like 12 times. :(

  • alguem morre ???

  • oooh les pauvres

  • this wouldn't happen if the horses weren't pushed so hard. little midget jockey fucks

  • @excop360 haha little midget jockey fucks! so true!! sadly they might be taller than me when i finish growing... though i prefer hunter and jumping rather than this abuse

  • Trotting is disgusting and cruel if horses were meant to trot like That they would from birth

  • @Colleen4207 You weren't born knowing how to walk at all. Doesn't mean teaching you is cruel. I can show you videos of cruel and disgusting, but this isn't one of them.

  • @Colleen4207 guess what they do trot from birth they have to be trained to pace

  • @Colleen4207 That's not correct. If you ever see standard-bred foals in the paddock many of them pace from the time they get up. They do indeed pace from birth. When they are "gaited" the pace is reinforced with hobbles to make them feel more comfortable doing it at speed.

  • @Colleen4207 um just to tell you, that kind of bred do trot like that from birth. we bred them. they are bred to spred their hindlegs so they can pass on the outside of the frontlegs, this is how they can trot so fast. and yes they do this from birth. i've seen seen foals 1 or two days old do it. it is natural to them. i'm not trying to put you down or anything, it's your right to have your own opinion. just wanted you to know that it's natural to them

  • The horses immeadiatelty get up because one, they don't know WHAT the hell just happened. Two, if a horse breaks its two front legs, it's done. It's usually put down. And three, they're trying to not get trampled by the other horses.

  • cool!!!!

  • I'm so glad to see the horses get up so quickly. Every time I see one struggling or lying on the track my heart gets a chill because we all know what that means :-(

  • it's so sad what can happen...

  • harness racing is silly. its not ben hur

  • we have harness racing horses as well as show harness ponies, and falls do some times happen, and it is amazing how few seem to get to badly hurts, but of course there are times when both horse and driver are injured but on the hole it is not that often thank goodness, here in australia they do not weigh the driver anymore

  • It is sad to think that if any one of those horses were injured bad thay are dead.Maybe got killed by the slaughter pitiful. To spend money just to kill it

  • pretty good movie, good acting and a good story. watch it for fr33 at Free Movie Zone . n e t

  • thats a beauty

  • humans are pathetic...poor things

  • OMG how did the last accident go?

  • did anyone died horses or humans?

  • I'm not completely certain but Im pretty sureall the drivers were okay and none of the horses ended dieing from the last wreck on the video if any one wanted to know.

  • That's just awful.

  • Shoot the jockeys when they break something instead of the horses you cruel shits!

  • if it's such a dangerous sport why do humans put horses through it. It's one thing to risk your own life it's another to risk somebody else's life even if they are a horse!

  • i dont like harness racing its obviously FIXED! Yesterday i got to watch this pig whip the horse but pull back at the same time...then the other horse catches up with him and he has a chance but instead he decides to not even whip the horse for the last few strides.

  • To people who don't understand the sport it can appear fixed.

You need to pull back on your horse during a race for many reasons. One reason is that you have to ration out the mile or you will lose big time. If you let your horse go as fast as it can it will certainly be out in front for a while, but will run out of steam before the mile is up and fall to last.

Another reason to hold your horse back is to prevent a speed-break. That is when your horse gets ahead of itself and breaks stride.

  • I feel more for the horses then the humans...

  • @skippy10776 you get yor facts right fuckin retart, what the fuck formula 1 thats like that gay ass hybrid car racing get the fuck off harness racing videos and go suck the 2 inch formula 1 dick

  • omg omg omg poor horses poor horses

  • no sport with horse!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 355jugglers just for the record formula 1 racing is a little bit more expensive than horse racing. get your facts right.

  • shiit -.-

    autsch

  • i'm all for horse sports (i own an eventer) but i've never been a fan of pacing/trotting just because of the straps on their legs. make's it so much easier for them to fall *shudder* scares the heck out of me watching a race. I always hold my breath until they're all safely under the wire.

hope that the horses and jocks were alright!

  • @iqreevo ever heard of free legged dumb ass? and the hobbles and lines are for control and guidance

  • @DPSVDV I dont see how my comment makes me a dumb ass. I know a trotter trainer, he's a very close family friend and I'm allowed to not like a sport if I dont want to. The straps in my opinion just make it harder for a horse to recover if they fall. I'm not saying they hurt the horse or anything. just saying if a horse trips the straps would make it harder to keep its feet. I'm not saying to ban it or stop it for christs sake so just take a chill pill.

  • @iqreevo once again have you ever heard of free legged?

  • @DPSVDV whoopdee doo for free legged - never seen one of those in australia which is coincidently where I live Mr Canadian. There's a big wide world outside of the bubble you live in. Sorry to be rude but I'm not a moron - I was making comments about leg straps being dangerous not about the sport of trotting or pacing.

  • it could have happened on or off track no it is not dangerous

  • @bigbass4100 what is not dangerous??? I would like to know what your talking about. If you think horse racing is not dangerous you know nothing! We wear 4 pound helemts on our heads because they look good. WE also wear bullet proof vests because they are so cool in the 90 degree weather. I am sorry but I have seen men die on the track! Just like nascar we lost our legend billy haughton in a race! so anyone that thinks this is not dangerous is a complete idiot!

  • Human are dumb...sooooo dumb... :-(

  • meu deus + que dó dos animais

  • you'd love to be on the leader at 1.25 but it is very tragic

  • 1:42 poor horses!

  • im one of the only people who cheer when a jockey or rider gets hurt, i love the animals , hate the fucking loser drivers and riders!!!! most are criminals who have no regard for the money we bet as betters and care less about the poor animals!!!! please have a cocktail everytime one of these fuckers gets hurt or killed !!!!

  • your an ass! next time you run over a cat or dog why don't you blow your brain's out? jackass!

  • @222frankel I love animals too, and my favourite animal is the horse.I work in a racing stable and I`m sure that I love these animals as much as you do.Accidents can happen in every sport and it`s very sad when these dramatic accidents happen.I rode for the first time when I was two years old and have ever since lived for these animals. Please don`t judge everybody just because you find some cruel people out in the world. Most of us treat our horses well.

  • I hope none of the horses were hurt. that looked horrific! UGH!

  • Some people may think its ok...and some people hate it...and yes it is a sport and accidents happen. But at least just have people "F" themselves up instead of the animals. I have seen many people in this profession and it really is about the money more than anything. And i have also seen them destroy a horse and not hive a rats ass about it....

  • I do like how the jockeys who were okay out of the accident stayed near the horses and the emergency people and trainers remained calm keeping the horses calm

  • @Barrelracing318 they are not jockeys they dont ride the horses

  • @DPSVDV drivers...i'm sorry i was complementing the video and you choose to correct that? I enjoy standardbreds and harness racing and you make it seem terrible that I said jockeys not drivers. Please don't tell me you sit at the computer correcting people's comments.

  • at least in thoroughbred racing they aren't harnessed. Looks like tough going...

  • throughbred get banged up too, i would sooner se a harness race ,at least those guys have some control over there horse

  • Yes, I know. Nothing bad about harness racing. My point was just that the harness it self can mean more complications to a fallen horse. Thoroughbreds get banged up, but they aren't attached to harnesses that can tangle the horses when they fall.

  • heywanna find a fellow who can satisfy my needs

  • I hope none of the horses got hurt??

  • STRIKE XD

  • Yes this is a sport. And yes accidents will happen and horses are 1200 pound animals that can be unpredictable.

  • What's a disaster!!! I wish all of that people whose idea was that kind of race will be punished as that poor horses!! This's a very stupid sport, very stupid..

  • And youre what we call in human turns A jackoff!!!

  • @AAFunny So accidents only happen in harness racing? You do not relize how better off they how better of the horses are treated instead of the trainers

  • Oh, what a shitball! Perhaps they should ride on pigs!?

  • Horses are extremely intelligent gothicdipshit.

Anything having to do with horses is a tough sport. You have to think in less than 1/6 of a second if the horse does something unplanned. They have their own minds and you don't have 100% control of them- they can also kill you in a split second. Stables spend around 200,00 on each horse they have for training and feed/vet. Disincluding racing fees. That's why horse racing is called the 'Sport of Kings' no other sport pays ANY where close.

  • @355jugglers its callled the sport of kings due to the money and time and effort put into it to get anywhere not for how much it pays.

  • @355jugglers are u kidding... do u live on a farm??? i really want to know.

  • @355jugglers no no no. horses are dumb as fuck.

  • @tempel007 no, they r not. your dumb as fuck if you realy think that!!

  • @355jugglers: Correction. Thoroughbred Racing is known as the "Sport of Kings".

Harness racing has long been known as the "Sport of the People" because almost anyone who has the desire and drive can be involved with the sport.

Check out the USTA's (United States Trotting Association) site.

    ustrotting dot comm

  • @355jugglers What ???????

  • @355jugglers What ??????? Hey its Dave Palone

  • Oh mein gott! :(

  • how? is that funny?, as u can see the horse trips over him self and with the riding harness, he couldnt pull his head up, that what happended!

  • sure lets get rid of racing and while were at it lets ban cross country oooh lets chuck show jumping in lets do away with barrel racing nit matter what horses are gonna get hurt if we are gonna ban racing we mind as well ban riding all together

  • these horses are breed to do this. they love it. if they didnt want to, they would be boycotting this. horses love to run. i may not have a thourobred, but i kow my quarter horses love running. did you know that quarter horses are faster than these thourobreds?

  • Eh, these are standardbreds, standardbreds harness race. Thoroughbreds don`t harness race, they only flat race and race over jumps.

  • @lakerscheerleader standerbreds are shown in these video

  • If anybody thinks that this sport is abuse. These horses LOVE to race, that is what they were bred for. Accidents do happen. Every sport comes with risks, we've seen football players getting injured in the sport they love, this is no different. And if the horses did not love racing they wouldn't be on the track. Its kind of hard to force a 1000+ pound to do something that he simply doesn't want to do.

  • Absolutely it is horse abuse, anybody knows that this is horse abuse!!

  • ...perhaps animal cruelty is the better word

  • @jackrussel0123 if its soo bad you would'nt see it around the world then.

  • @shinyp0nyta Yes they love to race in the wild, not around tracks just so they're rider and shit can earn some money.

  • @TheBlitz666 you dont relize how long racing has been going for since the early 1800s and these horses are bred for this stuff. If it were so bad you would not see the sport around.

  • don't like racing

  • And steeplechase is way more dangerous than Harness and actual Tb racing.

  • @spam1237 i dont know about that

  • Jeśli koń ginie to jaździec powinien też!!!!

  • deshalb sollte trabrennfahren verboten werden!

  • Then stop supporting other riding sports, horses get injured no matter what you do and they love running

  • one of Michigans greatest drivers, trainers and breeders has passed away, please show my dad, Mike Wellman your respects. Many many times, have i stood inthe winners circle...such great memories

  • @darkriver29 your speaking bullshit!!! who r u 2 say that jockeys only talent is being anorexic?!?! you have to be skilled to be a jockey. you need balance, coordination, quick thnking, fast reactions, etc etc.

also, if a horse didnt enjoy what theyre doing, they wouldnt try very hard. i know you might say that theyre scared into doing stuff they dont want to do, but their heart wont be in it and it will show.

  • Standarbred racing has very few accidents - the info is available to the public. Also thoroughbreds legs are actually quite strong and enduring. My two 3"6 hunters have never had any lamness issues and are both in their 20's and still jumping sound. Steriod overuse is most likely the issue with legs breaking in race horses.

  • my family owns a harness horses my horse won a race when a horse went down on a very hot night the horse body just overheated so thanx and not like other peeps who say harness racing is stupid

  • this is more dangerous than normal horse racing because their harness and carts are dangerous when fall. I think in this sport is more horse casualties than in horse-races.... It's so sad, poor horses :(

  • Harness racing barely has any accidents at all

Racing isnt safe but neither is normal horseriding

  • The horses are less likely to have issues from harness racing then they do with regular racing Throughbreds have skinny legs that often break Standardbreds are very durable horses and always have at least 2 hooves touching the ground which makes it less dangerous to the horse. I own a Harness Racer and yes there are accidents but accidents happen no matter what sport you do or what happens in life!

  • trotters are completely air borne at a certain point in their gait. its actually really cool to see the pictures like that. most standardbreds race every single week as opposed to thoroughbreds who might race once a month.

  • @horsegentler every week is pushing it. Will make you race one mile every week and see how you do ok?

  • What track was that at?

  • The track was probably medowfields but im not sure

  • bewarenet, i am just guessing.. but you never did any equestrian sport? Stupid moron don't talk shit about stuff you don't know about

  • @bewarenet Horses are athletes you fucking idiot who compete in RACING....a competitve SPORT. Morons!

  • ^^^^^ he mad.

  • @dahoss65 Horses aren't athletes. They are animals who deserve to be in the wild.

  • @TheBlitz666 Then go release your dog or cat into the wild.

If these animals weren't meant to be domesticated, then we wouldn't be able to do so any more than not being able to domesticate a lion or grizzly bear. We are able to domesticate particular types of animal because they are willing and able to bond with humans. Now go your head out of your ass.

  • @TheBlitz666 Besides, most people say humans are animals too moron.

  • @TheBlitz666 And humans weren't meant to drive around in automobiles. So sell yours now and walk.

  • @TheBlitz666 dont watch this if you dont like it -.- idiot

  • my parents race harness horse they have raced them for 30 years not 1 has anybody gotten in a accident

  • i wanna be a racing/steeplechase jockey, but i have a long way to go.....

  • thats a stupid game -.-

  • This looks like a stupid idea for racing. No offence, but there's a reason no one races horses WITH carts/chariots in the UK - it was dangerous for the Romans and it aint much better today. At least in normal racing, the horse only has itself to deal with when it falls, not wheels as well...

  • Standardbred racing almost has no accidents, and if there are the horse and rider normally aren't seriously injured. It was dangerous for the romans because their equipment was not safe and most of their races involved purposely running into other carts to make them crash so they would be the winner. Chariot racing is different then harness racing.

  • strap your legs together, attach a trolley to your back and try runing really fast. fucking stupid sport. of course people and animals are going to die.The whole fuckin sport is an accident waiting to happen. open your eyes to reality.

  • Why would they need to strap their Legs together?

But i get what your saying

  • Actually Harness Racing is safer than thoroughbred racing

    1.they arent going as fast

2.atleast 2 legs touch the ground at a time

but no racing is really cruel a horse does it because they want to a 1000kg horse is never goingt o be told what to do by a 56kg jockey

  • All sports have accidents or casualties, there are accidents in soccer and football, that doesn't make the sport dumb. You can die in skydiving and other sports like that, should we tell sky divers to stop what they are doing?

Horses legs are not strapped together. And there aren't as many accidents in harness racing as there are in other equestrian sports.

  • Pointless sport. Really it's pointless, it's all about making money, not skill.
