What you are seeing is space debris. They appear to be changing direction but really it is the Shuttle changing velocity relative to the pieces of space debris, If you don't believe me go to the STS-48 video and if you look closely, you will notice all the debris moves in the same direction after the flash in the left hand corner, which is the thruster firing. The only ones that don't change direction are the stars.

your trying to tell me a piece of space debris which has to be going faster than the shuttle (17,000mph+) to catch up then pass it then it just suddenly stops at the same speed as the shuttle? this dooesnt show it all, go search the other regular sts 114 videos and see the object make a 90 degree to 180 degree turn, no way its space debris.

The problem with this kind of footage is that people use to put a music along it, disrupting it's originality, in an environment that the credibility is so important and all the discredit we are fighting. In the other hand, there is a lack of information about when and where it was taken, and how the person get through it. Attention to details, please! Finally, good job.
