  • I believe this is the movie about the giant spider. I have seen this on monster movie matinee

  • This year they're giving us Little Shop of Horrors (1960) and Night of the Living Dead (1968). It's on right now.

  • @johnissoevil I have the 30th anniversary edition of the original Night of the loving dead on dvd . This shows you were the cemetery zombie came from

  • Probly better than the Chiller channel we have now.

Once in a while there is some good stuff, but it's mostly just another version of the Syfy channel.

    In other words...garbage.

I will take an old cheesy b-movie from back in the day over the ones they make now.

  • I wish PIX would have shown a whole remastered version of the chiller hand intro. They did it for the original B+W version.

  • zacherly was the best...

  • Despite being up against the mighty Yankees in the World Series, Chiller theater '09 was modest hit in the local ratings.

WPIX should take that as their cue to bring Chiller Theater back every Saturday night. They have nothing to lose by bringing CT back & everything to gain. Their current prime time ratings for Saturday night are as flat as a glass of cheap domestic beer left to sit in a hot summer sun for 12 hours.

  • Chiller is back for Halloween '09! Check out WPIX's interbone site for details

  • God, I grew up on Chiller Theater, Creature Features, Fright Night, etc...It's a damn shame they don't have anything like this on today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey Bob, Welcome to The Nuthouse. Go over to WPiX's Facebook page and make your vote count! Pick the movie you want them to play this Halloween. Scroll down and find the "Chiller" thread.

  • To Whom It May Concern:

THANK YOU for the return of "Chiller Theatre" this Halloween '09.

  • Indeed.

  • Shawn: Go to Facebook's WPiX page and vote for the movie you wanna see.

    What would you pick?

  • Some of mine: Frankenstein '31 Night of the Living Dead '68 Black Sabbath Black Sunday ( I've not seen this ) The Blob '58 The Screaming Skull Frankenstein's Daughter The Twilight Zone: The Movie Psycho '60 Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed ...
  • Nosferatu

    The Haunting '62

    The Tingler

    Bride of Frankenstein

    The Fly '86

    The Thing '82

... and on and on ...

Not another giant monster show ...

  • HI !!! Haven't been at the monster club in a while, but good to see you're still around.

How's the progress with the Creature Features thing going?

As far as "Black Sunday" you'll like it. Barbara Steele is a hottie in this one! I have the DVD and it's a fine addition to any horror collection.

  • The "monster club" is one of my favorite sites to BS now. I find it humorous that the "From Hell It Came" thread has branched out to over one hundred-fifty pages ... Good Grief.

Haven't done much on the intro lately, but I like that image you guys over there helped me cook up. I may start again to get something just like what you see in my profile here, add some flourishes, the music, etc, and post it. My ultimate goal is to create it and use it as an intro for some horror DVDs for fun.

  • One thing I wish was available is the "It's 10pm ..." PSA with Steele doing the voice over, but I've not found one anywhere. Another would be him doing, "We're experiencing operating difficulties, please stand by," because that could figure well into what I had in mind.

On another subject, Tap revealed in the comments to his "NY TV MONSTER MOVIE MEMORY PLUS 1978" vid that one of his contacts here found a small clutch of "Chiller" footage. I'm assuming it's Zacherley and intro material. COOL!!!

  • Yo Shawn, dunno how to contact you ... it's UP! That's the Good News.

The BAD News is it's choppy on my end. Connection speed? DSL. Processor? Suspect, but indeterminate. Lemme know how it plays back.

Muchos Gracias for all your input.

Thankfully I was able to find a copy of "Visitors from Space" with Theremin, odd there are two versions out there. BTW, anybody out there, WM Brown, you too, who can make hash out of this detail?

  • @Saturday8pm

Hey hey HEY, it's Saturday 8PM!

How are ya'? Did you see The Evil Of Frankenstein on Chiller last week? Great wasn't it?

Stay in touch bud. I haven't been at Yuku because I'm a bit tired of the board and the one-sidedness they display on every range of issues. Remember the thread about disrespectful kids? I was all US ADULTS' fault and the kids were Christ children who could do no wrong. I'm so tired of partisanship these days, from message boards to politics.

  • Shawn! Lemme know how the new improved color CF intro plays. Choppy here.

YES! I had CT taped. Elvira was RUDE! I laughed me butt off. I sent her an email requesting more dick jokes! Dick jokes?!? Check out WPiX's not-safe-for-primetime videos here on YouTube®! Some are up at WPiX's Chiller page, which they've already buried. Just add slash shows slash Chiller after the wpix dot-com, and you'll be directed there. Leave a comment!

  • i wonder now if it will come back at all. wpix got rid of the chiller page.

  • Maybe ... I thought that if we see nothing by Halloween, the whole idea is off. It's also possible that the update was posted by employee fans without the green light graces of upper management. Further, perhaps it was my calling out of the poster who signed himself as Dr Morbius, Dr Sardonicus, Dr Hitchcock, etc as conducting a one-man protest ... he alone was responsible for nearly half the commentary! So who knows. lol

  • i know the guy dr. morbius, sardonicus. very passionate about chiller

  • Yup, can't take that away from him!

I err on the side of hope. That doesn't sound too Obama, does it? :0)

  • I remember watching the Zacherle monster TV show back in the late 1950's I think it was on Friday nights? I use to love that show! I remember Zacherle slowly opening the coffin lid at the start of the show in Black & White of course.

  • too bad it did not come back permanently

  • This is so cool! Thanks to all who wrote to WPIX to do this. Do you know if they're using the original six fingered clip from their archives? Let's hope we can get WPIX to do this on a weekly basis again.

  • As far as we know, yes! AND the montage that was used following Zach's departure. ( Note: this was all before me time! ) I wanna see the intro NOT posted ( as yet ) on YouTube: The one with the dripping letters from '68 or so, just before "Mr Six" made the scene. Somehow, that one was very disturbing. Of course, it helps when one is all of four years old!

  • are you keeping track of the comments on the wpix website? people are getting restless. no word on the return of chiller

  • I am ... but PiX realizes we are, after all, a niche market ... remember, these shows did well in The '60s and early '70s, then died the death. PMs seem to remember the failures more than the successes. I think they'll pull something out of their hats, but don't hold your breath. PMs are too addicted to low-cost reality TV, yet a good show is going in "Chiller" 's old time spot. That show's outcome will inform "Chiller" 's return, I think.

  • The latest is that there's no direct link to that comments page now ... also, some troll named "ANTON" is spreading spurious rumors that the cw brand on WPiX will be effectively dead come December and that a return to the old programming is in order ... don't believe it ... there's nothing on the web that supports this claim. At least so far.

  • i wonder if wpix is running this commercial that day--gotta record this one too.

  • Zacherley did 2 different cameos for the new program that WILL be airing on WPIX!

  • This will be good fun ... I'm gonna git someone to tape it ... I'm out of its range these days. Even if they never do it again, it'll be fun all the same.

  • you know i'm gonna tape it!!

  • Now all we need is for WNYW to revive "Creature Features" and WWOR to conjure up "Fright Night" ... back from the dead!

  • Amen to that! You can't tell me they wouldn't get better ratings than the crap they're showing now.

Bring back our American heritage -- show more

    monster movies!!

P.S. WPIX is very cool. This 'Chiller' revival is a great idea. Also, they have a Honeymooners request hour Sunday nights, AND they show the classic 'Odd Couple' series.

    Bravo PIX!

  • I'm with you, wns67: WPIX ruled! I recall my favorite line-up growing up in the late 70's early 80's from 11:00pm - 1:00am. I'm glad Mom was cool and let me stay up on school nights for: The Odd Couple followed by The Honeymooners followed by Star Trek and then The Twilight Zone!

It's fun now to pop in those DVD's in that same order and relive those good times.

  • i meant the wpix show not the convention. i'm voting for zach!!

  • too bad zach's not doing the show.

  • Zacherley The Cool Ghoul will be shooting a NEW Opening for the

television return of Chiller Theatre. Filming will be this week and we

are EXTREMELY Happy that Zacherley has given his blessing to the new

    program!

  • that's great to hear. last i checked on his site--he wasn't. can't wait to see it. see ya at the convention!!!!
