@ab5441 Wow, that sounds like something I would of said. Unfortunately, even when you use three methods for birth control you're still not 100% safe. Realistically, I doubt the average parent in industrialized countries have more than two-three kids, and since not all adults have children it's probably the extremes(that 19 and counting lady on TLC) and third world countries that lack readily available birth control that put a dent in overpopulation.

Actually, a doula is very beneficial to the mom -- and dad! -- in labor, because she's actually familiar with labor and birth, and will know/remember things that the parents will likely forget or not have ever known.

There have even been times when men will have symptoms very similar to pregnancy, known as Couvade Syndrome. Lastly, I understand that this video has only good intentions, and (like most of your videos) It was an overall good message, but I feel like there were some stereotypical undertones that make men out to seem incompetent. I think I must disagree with this video on some points. Firstly, why *shouldn't* the man have some control over who is there to witness the birth of his child? Yes, he isn't formally doing any of the work, but he is going to be there for the rest of that child's life, as will (hopefully) that child's grandparents. But in Europe, when people are born at home, there is someone from the hospital or someone who had knowledge or birth at home. That person can help. What you say is true: using scissors requirs a real pro :-P Anyway, being born at home is actualy more of a Dutch tradition (I just heard that from my mom). Sure a lot of people are born in hospitals with those pro's (and good equipment, not scissors) by their side. But a lot are born at home which results in one of the highest child birth deaths in Europe. But the US still holds a 3rd world % of birth deaths

Maybe there's a special way they get children registered other than "Here's the paper. Sign this," or anything like that. Maybe they just get the child's information from the parent or something. But if the parent dies, they got to find ANOTHER way. But anyway, there may be a way they get the good estimate of how many people there are in the world after all.
