Hey guys im starting a channel where i give you classic songs, the ones you dont think tio look for then your like ohhh wow man havent heard that in a while, haha or something like that :P anyways it would be highly appreciated if you were kind enough to give my channel a chance, thank you and ROCK ON! :) also if demanded there will be free guitar lessons, jus give my channel a preview, maybe subscribe and check out the few songs i got up and all, remember ive just started, :) THANK YOU
The rhythmic complexities of the subdivisions of the beat are INCREDIBLE!!! By the way I love your tone, are you running through a Marshall??? Also are you left or right handed?
This is a fantastic lesson. You're a great teacher. You are so clear and so is the view of your fretboard and strings. I like how you repeat pieces in segments and put them back together slowly and fast. Very thorough and easy to follow.
@brobro565656 If you're playing in standard tuning, it starts out with a Bb major chord, goes to a C major chord, back to the Bb maj, then to Ab major. The actual song is tuned down a half step on all strings, so the chords are Bmaj, C#maj, and Amaj--which reminds me, this entire solo needs to be shifted down 1 fret for everything to coincide with the recording do to the tuning difference.
you forgot to mention the note you play right before the barred hammer-on. after that bend release you hit another note that some beginners may get hung up on. i know it frustrated he hell out of me why my solo sounded like it was missing something
I can't catch the extra hammer on/pull-off @ 4:32, I've watched it a dozen times what is it? I think it goes right at the 2:40 mark? Great lesson by the way
@offdtop Yeah he kind of skipped over explaining that part. It's just some simple bends, pull offs, and plucks of the G and D string at the 9th and 11th frets.
And could someone please tell me the chords Jimi uses during the main verses? I know Bob Dylan used Am, G, F, G, but that doesn't sound right for hendrix' version...
Very nice video, however, you did not explain to everyone the part right before the hammer on from the 9h12 on the b string. After you bend the 11 fret of the g string twice, you bend up again and release it to the 9th fret, then play the 11 fret on the d string once, and then go to the hammer on 9h12 on the b string. You do that when you actually played it, but you never explained that part, so anyone confused about hearing extra notes in there, that is what was missing. hope that helps.
@ak231510 Thank you so much! I've been so confused becuase whenever I listen to the song, I always finish before Hendrix does becuase I missed those notes! Thanks a lot man! :D Happy playing!
So, would it be more accurate when playing in standard tuning to shift every note down a half step? (Aka starting with the slide up to 12, and the bends on the d string at fret 10 instead of 11)
Thanks for the video, I picked it up in just a few minutes. Realized my guitar needs to be setup though, some buzzing on the frets higher than 12th
Err, actually, just noticed that the info says he's playing it tuned down already...so In standard tuning would it be better to play everything shifted UP a fret? (Slide going up to 14 and bends on d string being at the 12th fret...)
But I'm still confused now. What key is Hendrix' version really in? The guy teaching is playing it in the Key of C Minor (Using the C Pentatonic scale by starting at the 9th fret when tuned down a half a step), but when I looked it up I kept seeing that Hendrix played it in C Sharp Minor.. If it's in C Sharp minor, then the guy playing here is playing it correctly for standard tuning, and everything woul have to shift up a fret (slide up to 14), if you tuned it to Eb standard.
He's playing tuned down a half step already. If in standard he would be playing C sharp minor. Since detuned, he's in C minor, using (mostly) the C minor pentatonic with a major third in there to make it walk from time to time. The Dylan style chords transposed to this key would be C minor, B flat major, and A flat major.
Thank you very much! Thank you, thank you, thank you! lol Sorry, just you have no idea how long I have been trying to learn this. All videos on here did not explain it and the tabs were just wayy too weird. I finally learned the first solo. :D
jimi hendrix was a lefty but bought a right handed strat and to accomodate his left-handedness he strung his string opposite of what they were supposed to be- low E is strung where the high E is, A is strung where B should be, and D is strung where G normally is and so on
damn you! I just a few minutes ago decided i was NOT going to try and learn this song and just be happy and practice the other songs i already don't fully know. And damn you now i started this one too. love this intro. all your fault. lol.
Great video! What are the opening chords before the first solo? Another video has them as Bm, A, G, A, but that doesn't seem like what you're playing. Thanks!
Great work - apperantly an easy Solo, but the details are realy hard to set as perfect as you did. And if you miss this small details it sounds ugly (i know what im talkin about ;-)
Your Video helps me a lot to advance my technique, thanks!
But you missed a smal part at your explantation. At 2:50 should fallow a hit on the bended G String 11th Fret - then release the bend, release die string down to 9th fret and from there playing a little tone on D String 11th fret. Just look at 0:17 ;)
FINALLY! A lesson on this song, that's actually worth a shit! THANK YOU!!! Your a good and detailed instructor, so put up more songs! Maybe some Hey Joe!

E Flat standard tuning? Is that just standard tuning? I wanna do this right. Great video by the way
StrumTheStrings 2 years ago
its Eb tuning, so the strings are tuned:
D#, G#, C#, F#, A#, D#
basicly all strings one half step down

Ok, I'm guessing if you're playing this in standard tuning, then everything is just one fret back, right?
Jimi played a half-step down so I guess it's only logical...
