This really is lovely man... I stumbled upon your video while browsing sp404 shit as I want to get one.. Like someone else said - a wonderful and refreshing approach to using a sampler instead of the millions of people out there doing 'smokey' hip hop beat stuff...
No, you need some sound source to put in the sampler :) The sounds for this song originate from Korg Kaossilator (phrase sequencer) - i recorded bits and short loops to individual pads of 404 sampler and then arranged them in this pattern on 404.
@Yunneck kaossilator has 31 scales integrated .. from chromatic (wich obviously includes semitones ) to stuff like ragas , blues scales, etc .there's a card wich comes with the original device wich tells you the notes (in american notation) of each scale you select , you can fin the kaossilator scale list arround the internet. (default scale is ioninan and you know some ppl are pretty much dumb to realize there are other notes =)
Wow, really awesome. I like how you managed to escape the traditional loop structure, where things feel fragmented and seperate.. everything feels interwoven it all meshes together..
Sounded great. Is it recorded directly out of the SP-404?
perodruser 4 months ago
@perodruser yep, sp-404 direct to computer

@imagiag so could i plug my digital keyboard into this and record something, and then use it as a loop and tweak it and shit in this?
seanmitchell88 1 year ago
@seanmitchell88 exactly, records/loops what you plug to it, and then you can sequence the loops and apply effects
imagiag 1 year ago
@imagiag sounds awesome. might have to get me one of these
seanmitchell88 1 year ago
@imagiag one more question. does it have an audio out so i could plug it into a recording program and record it as a track?
seanmitchell88 1 year ago
@seanmitchell88 sure it has audio out :) how do you think it was recorded? :)

is it possible to make halftones on kaossilator? All i saw on YT was white keys only.
Yunneck 2 years ago
sorry, i don't have kaossilator anymore, and don't remember :( try asking someone who has it around..
imagiag 2 years ago
i did.
Kaossilator has different tonescales and it can be set depending on what you want to play. Yea, i want one! :]
Yunneck 2 years ago
yes it is...you can choose so many different scales (also the crhomatic and the off mod-like a fretless instrument)
legghiu 2 years ago
i know that now, but thanks
its hard to 'feel' chromatic scale in it

like denktribe.. What about something faster. And these samples have your machine in?
RU2HG3RM 3 years ago
:)) i wouldn't compare myself with denktribe, he actually knows what he's doing :)
sounds are sampled loops from kaossilator, as i show in my other "music" video
as for faster - i'm just discovering the audio creation, so no style set yet
