  • how do you shoot it off with your foot and be accurate?

  • @DanTheShotokanKid

    a lot of practice

  • @kaifinn I mean whats the technique? cuz I have one and i'm using the weight like you would for a suruchin. or a Kung Fu Rope Dart. idk how to shoot it off my foot

  • @DanTheShotokanKid let it loop around your big toe. and when it comes up pull your toe out. the timing in wich you do that will direct the fundo

  • @kaifinn this is whip chain almost

  • The Kusari Gama is one dangerous weapon to handle, nonetheless, it's one of my favourite weapons which I have yet to train with.

  • nice skill

  • what is the average length of the chain on the end of the kusarigama? Please respond

  • @Assassin2791

it al depents on the school.

it can be a few inches, or it can be 3,60 m

in this case the rope is as long as the person who wields it.

  • just charge at em

  • Is oo-kami wolf in japanese?

  • @dakoata121212

    ogami means wolf

  • @kaifinn Is there 2 words for wolf, I've always used garou as wolf....

  • @steviesama garou means werewolf

  • @kaifinn Actually I looked it up in my Japanese Dictionary after that, garou is listed as hungry wolf, and the oogami was just plain wolf. I never knew about oogami though. I did some research on it, 2 words are used for werewolf, the romanized "waaurufu" would be written in katakana, and oogamiotoko which literally means "wolfman".

  • @steviesama YEAH MY sensai told me oogami ment like wondering wolf or a exiled wolf. i still don't get it coz my idea about it is very limited

  • This is a great video!

  • Hello!

  • really good skill

  • Great control, impressive demo

  • @imattie707

the gun is a weapon like any other. if you don't know what you're doing you can seriously hurt someone, if not yourself.

i wouldn't stay around you if you were holding a firearm.

  • Wonder how many shots to the nuts it took him to get good at this? =P

  • I will love to see this weapon being applied in a full flow combat and I bet it will be as deadly as it looks. ... Good demonstration of basics though... kudos

  • Are the parts where the fundo is thrown the same techniques as meteor hammer/rope dart?

  • @xxgangbangerxx

mostly, in rope dart the throwing is mostly done with a "gyaku hand"

  • even musashi in his famous fight against baiken needs to use two swords to kill baiken. he quickly charge towards baiken's before he could start swinging the chain.

  • il manie trop bien la kusari kama respect.

  • Escentially, just a meteor hammer from Kung Fu (Or whatever you choose to call it) but with two killing ends. Have been in love with it since I saw curse of the golden flower. Great control of it on both the weighted end and bladed. Keep up the work.

  • that weapon looks way 2 dangerous 4 the wielder of it lol

  • ive breifly looked over the kusarigama, and i never though of swinging the kama side of the chain lol pretty sick.

  • It looks almost identical to kung fu techniques. Brilliant manipulation of the weapon, regardless. I still have a hard time seeing any weapon like this being a mach for a sturdy sword :)

  • well alot of japanese weapons and art were influenced by china right?

  • i think it is basically identical to techniques for the rope dart (or whatever you call it's twin with the ball) except for the sicle on the other end.

  • this weapon is actually superior tot he sword and wakizashi the samurai used, as a matter of fact, samurai hated going up against a kusarigama user, the waited ball on the end of the chain is used to entangle the enemy, then strike with the sickle, usually after dissrming them entirely.

  • Still not as good as a gun, though.

  • Yeah... Notice the Military does not use these anymore lol

BUT, look up Manrikigusari, some of the US soldiers actually had thoughs in WWII =)

  • @vagitoe yeah, but requires more skill and discipline than a gun, that's why robbers choose them.

  • @vagitoe If your such a big fan of guns dont whach this! Guns may be the best wepon but Swords and other wepons such as these prove your skill, and it takes true skill to use wepons. Swords, and wepons like these are for real men, who know what thier doing. Guns have made to many people into cowards. You can say what you want but its true.

  • umm i'm looking all over the internet & can't find a kusarigama ive really wanted 1 for about 2 years now after i saw Kohaku from Inuyasha & if you know where i can buy one that would help

  • @inuyashachobitsfma if your looking for a kusari gama i would highly suggest going to anime conventions they have up and comming smiths who hand make some of these weapons by special order i'd suggestt not buying the ones there because the ones they have are usually

  • @inuyashachobitsfma for collection porpusses so gget their buisnes website or whatever and ask them to makke you a "battle-ready" kusari gama that way it can be used to practice the art, i would highly suggest if you intend to useit to put a blunt edge and rounded edge on it so you dont kill yourself.... if you live in Canada ontyario residence go to "Anime North" they are very popular for their weapon stalls....

  • These KusariGama weight on the chain is the only thing to throw, exactly no one throws the Kama, because it's not really effective and controlable like the weight. The Kama was only for attacking and maybe for blocking, the weight can drop horseman from his horse and it's very effective against other close combat weapons, but the KusariGama is a lone wolf weapon.

But anyway, it looks very impressive.

  • "exactly no one throws the Kama"

    except for ryu hayabusa :D

  • there are more ryu that throw the kama. there are thousands ryu. no one knows al the details. the yugen-ryu also throws, kama, sai, tonfa, and bo.

  • i know.. i was talking about the ninja gaiden ryu (video game) but hes not real so i guess he doesnt count :D

  • @kaifinn

lol, Ryu Hayabusa is a character from a video game: ninja gaiden. He's a ninja. LOL

  • @Padilha93 beast ninja though, love the game

  • @cwj415 haha you forgott the nice reiso from "ninja assasin" my friend :D

  • nice!

  • if you could further educate me

what is your fundo made out of on this kusarigama

  • fore savety reasons. this ball is a sort of tennisball. we also use wooden and iron weights. the kama's are always sharp

  • would't hitting yourself with the fundo hurt?

  • in full speed? it hurts, it can easily break a rib

  • are these kata? what is the situation where you spin the rope around your own neck? that seems pretty dangerous especially with a kama blade spinning toward your own face!

or is this more like just a juggling demo?

what koryu are these techniques from?

    thank you and interesting video!

  • this kata is a combination of several kata.

the ropespin around the neck has several meanings. 1, it is a way of changing the swinging direction. 2, it learns to control and not fear the weapon. 3, when you are swinging and somebody is able to get a hold of you from behind, you lower the rope and let it hit youre own neck, and the kama will hit the attacker on the side of the head. this is okinawa kobudo.

  • oh ok. thanks for the further detail. i just finished a book called Zen Kobudo about the evolution of okinawa kobudo. it's interesting stuff. thanks again.

  • make more! make more! please! i actually learned a few things! =D

  • no, when you hit him, you will hook him with the blade. but when the blade is forward, you can pierce him

  • could you please tell me if the kama's blade is always in front or not (when you spin it)?

  • the blade is backwards. when you hit the neck with the handle, the blade flips forward, then pull.

  • it means that you actually can pierce your opponent with spinning sickle? thank you a lot, now im sure id like to learn kusarigama dzutsu
