The term "home court advantage" in referring to the Oval Office was used in the West Wing episode "Shutdown" in 2003. If it was ever used before to describe the Oval Office, I'm not aware of it. President Obama was thought to been a fan of that TV series, and has frequently adapted some of its quotes and themes.

I have long been a fan of the White House and it's story. And as an admirer of old houses/mansions and a profressional home renovator and amateur decorator, I must say that the Obama oval office looks the most tacky of any I have ever seen. From the cheap looking rug, to the green contrmporary lamps, all the way to the unbelievably chinsy looking Costco couches and the extraordinarily cheesy coffee table. This room now looks less insignificant and laughable. Just what I expected!
