@chickenjoe211 As a rapper Yupac is great.....AS A RAPPER. Ask him to sing a note....couldn't do it! Ask him to play a c minor chord on the piano.....not happening. Ask him to play a rythym on the drums....nope nada! Ask him to peep a note on the harmonica....hello? Fact is Stevie's played alongside other pop/rock/soul musicians but also jazz and classical giants and has held his own. He has actually influneced artist in other genres. He is a universal musician! 2pac was a RAPPER.
@nidiaaw1 I think its an understatement to say 2PAC was just a rapper.Im a musician myself,no need to say Stevie is a God of music andprophet.2PAC was a poet,a writter and his contribution to afroamerican and world culture is huge.I love jazz R&B soul but hiphop is another musical expresion and deeply respect 2PAC art.He was blessed talented and IM sure Stevie himself agrees.I measure genius by their skills and contribution to the world,2PAC has a panthon at the olimpo o music def.
@fede4real I agree that he was a poet and w great writer. Yes he had talent. But he was not a musician. I love music and I personally listen to the music first. If the lyrics are good, that makes it even better! But the music has to be interesting, new, complex and entertaining to me. Most rap in a loop of 4 bars played over and over again. Sampling somelses music! I like 2Pac a lot......but he's not a musician.
@nidiaaw1 I agree 150% with you.Im also a 99% music 1%. Stevie Wonder.....One of the seven Wonders.....right here and NOW your still brilliant...especially in this age of bullshit crap we have living with us.
He wasn't blind at birth. Owing to his being born six weeks premature, the blood vessels at the back of his eyes had not yet reached the front and their aborted growth caused the retinas to detach.[3] The medical term for this condition is retinopathy of prematurity, or ROP, and while it may have been exacerbated by the oxygen pumped into his incubator, this was not the primary cause of his blindness.[6]
I would love to come to a page where I listen to STEVIE WONDER and don't have to worry about Tyler or whoever else. Damn. And the 7 dislikes were meant to be likes.
PLEASEEE keep Tyler away from Stevie. The 2 dont blend watsover, so everyone just leave it be, and just sit back, picture the most relaxing and refreshing summer breeze making you feel fine, in a hammock, wasting the day with nothing but peace of mind and a smile :P
the 7 people who don't like this are assholes and there tone deaf. if you don't know real music when you hear it go listen to the j beaver you a holes.
sorry but how do all of you even have TIME to argue over youtube..... who cares if tyler added this to his summer camp mix. stevie is the greatest so get over yourselfs... faggots.
Another anti-drugs masterpiece is Marvin Gaye's 'Flying High (In The Friendly Sky)' from 'What's Going On' which was released 2 years before Innervisions and greatly influenced Stevie. It depicts Marvin's own person struggles with addiction and the experience of Vets who returned from Vietnam disillusioned with the world they'd come back to after the horrors of war and the changing landscape with the climate civil unrest, economic turmoil and uncertainty of the direction the country was heading.
Wow so many people seem to miss the point of this song. Stevie was not advocating the use of drugs. Infact its the opposite. This is an anti-drugs masterpiece!
This joint is so fantastic that I could hear it on the radio today (yeah, i wish) and not even think it was made back in the 70's. That beat is so HOT!!!
The70's..... such a beautiful time for black culture & music.....Women were respected, social commentary, the message was love, Good Times, What's Happening, The Jeffersons, Flip Wilson, Sanford and Son, Naturals were cut tight, Soul Train Saturday Mornings, J5, Muhammad Ali, SOUL Brotha, Right on!!!....Shaft, Foxy Brown, Super Fly, Ice Cream truck in the hood, Afro pick with the Black Power salute on the end....BLACK WAS BEAUTIFUL!!....Lets get it back!! One Luv!!
1975 I knew as soon as the needle hit the vynal and this kicked off the just bought Inervisions the whole record would be SMOKIN. And almost 40 years since release it still is an eargasm. This is real fucking music with no bullshit computer enchanced wanna be singers. This is when artists created masterpieces in the studio.
It's incredible when you think about the amount of music coming from Stevie during a time when you recorded in one take, without use of sampling, note correction, vocorders and the like. Big ups. We use ALOT of computer technology to make music sound about half as good as this does..lol.
@MANRAYCOV So true man! I think the limitation of technology enabled them to have a wider sense of imagination. I think this type of imagination and composition got lost when computers came into the picture. Computers made it ok for musicians to get lazy, especially sequencers. It all the sudden became acceptable to loop a 4 bar groove for half the song, with little thought for intros, and B sections.
@barksdale85 haha thank you. I've been listening to this since for my 17 years. Listen to it if you like it but you don't have to attach Tyler to everything get some outside interests.

Hello im looking for a bass player with this type of sound to start a band to fulfill my vision of a new type of music, im a music producer and i'd me more than glad to hear you play or for you to give me a link or an audio file, if I pick you ill tell you my idea of a new sound, and ill give you all the details, i'll answer any questions you may ask, or any concern, anyways please answer back to me, thank you :) "Make music for self expression of your heart and soul and not for fame or money"
@turdmaflurd It's worth a try though, what the hell else am I supposed to do? I'm not gonna check everyones profile to see if they play bass or not that's just too much time that I don't have, besides i'm just being honest and straight forward of what I mean and yes I do have a new sound I just need 3 more musicians and i'll finally be able to build chemistry between them all, btw since your so critical what would you have done or said, obviously you believe you know so I want to hear?
That harmonica solo is BANANAS!!! I have never heard anyone that can make that harmonica TALK like Stevie can! and alot of people know how to play it. Only a genius can do that!

@kendrell3233 Hey, learn some proper grammar first before you try talking to an adult. If you want to be taken seriously, talk, or in this case, type like an adult. Stevie Wonder is the greatest artist of all-time and it's sad that you needed Tyler The Creator to help you find this song.

@TheFirstBroBIB he is an upcoming and young rapper who referenced Stevie (and this specific song) in one of his singles, and so all the kids are coming to stevie to check it out. Props to them for wanting to research, but they shoulda known about Stevie way long ago!!

@kendrell3233 Hey, learn some proper grammar first before you try talking to an adult. If you want to be taken seriously, talk, or in this case, type like an adult. Stevie Wonder is the greatest artist of all-time and it's sad that you needed Tyler The Creator to help you find this song.

@kendrell3233 if u didnt know who stevie wonder was before tyler the creative then, just wow
