A clear and bright rendition of this joyous Bach fugue. Ms. Dumschat has a gently touch which causes this piece to ring out in beautiful polyphony on this instrument.
Clear and exultant enunciation on both the manuals as well as the pedals. This piece was not meant to express contemporary baroque stylistic character so much as it was to glorify God, and so it does at Ms. Dumschat's fingertips. Soli Deo Gloria!
Actually, the three parts togther are supposed to be about the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The joyous fugue bursting from the somber adagio is the perfect metaphor for the resurrection.
great playing, this is one of my favourite fugues. I get to play on this organ quite regularly and for a 23 year old instrument it sounds brand new. I love the tuning, it sounds so bright and clear!
An excellent performance - clarity and vitality. The organ is well suited to Bach. New organ fans should note this Baroque style organ's mechanical action and straight pedal keyboard, very different from most 19th and 20th century organs. The artist appears to be playing exclusively with her toes, which was the 18th century style.
thats not really true, the saying is that pedalling in baroque music often required using the toes but that doesnt mean always, in some pieces i find it almost impossible to get through without using heals at some point for example the toccata and fugue in f major, fantasia and fugue in g minor and others, however you are partially right!!
Thanks for your discussion on toes vs. heels. By the way, I believe what we are discussing here is spelled H-E-E-L-S. Sounds like "heals," but "heals" has another meaning. Check it out. - FH
Fascinating information. Thank you. I'm a fan of baroque music but, up till recently, I'd confined my listening to the lute, opera seria, and ensemble music, sonatas, concerti grossi, orchestral suites, that sort of thing. I am, as you say, a newcomer to the organ repertoire and this was very informative.
Hurrah! Thanks for the gorgeous music and for helping to drown out the incessant boom boom music from the neighbours!

She's wonderful. She played my wedding in 1997, though not in that church.

Of course, she uses only her toes. There is no need to use heals while playing Bach!

This is beautiful. This is in my hometown too. This organ sounds like a Skinner organ to me....maybe just a little? Thank you for this video.
