One of the funny things about americans: they actually think that democarts are left wing (left wing liberalist capitalism LOL). Just to make it clear, your conservatives are fascists, and your democrats are the type of moderate right wing partys we have in europe, they just pretend sometimes to be left wing so that gives you the idea that you have a broad choice... but you dont LOL. Just hope the occupying the wall street movment finally gets some real left wing values in your stupid contry.
Oh yeah, you guys in Europe are doing fantastic! Greece is in better shape than ever, and I hear the UK is thriving as well! - NOT. It's the "entitlement" mentality of the far left that's helping to further weaken our economy, and it's what wrecked theirs. The Occupy "movement" is nothing more than kids who are mad because their degree in art history didn't land them a job, and now they can't pay off thier loans, and they want somone richer to fix their own mistakes.
@MrServThePerv The European countries that are in bad shape now are the southern, more conservative ones. The ones further north like the Scandinavian countries are in great shape, and guess what? They're the furthest left politically in Europe.
"More conservative"? Are you joking? There were riots all over Greece because people couldn't pay their bills and they couldn't get their precious government hand-outs. There is nothing conservative about that. Also, Scandanavian countries, have an abundance of natural resources feeding their economy, and a small, homogenous population: you can't take their economic system and think it applies to other countries; they operate under different circumstances.
@TimothyADonaghue humans now predators are now humans, darwinian evolution stop on humans a long time ago, now its all about social evolutions/revolution and technology revolutions.
Also, the area of Holland in Europe has far fewer STD's and unwanted pregnancy than us, and prostitution is legal over there, only it's regulated, woman must do check ups, so it's been proven to work.
I'm fiscally conservative, but socially libertarian: I want to KEEP the money I earn, and I want to be able to buy weed and hookers with it if I so please.
You are a true American with principle. Self proclaimed conservatives and liberals are hopelessly indoctrinated with their parties ideology. It is a part of their identity. Criticizing their party is perceived as a personal attack. In other words, they are useless traitors.
Haha I appreciate that. I sure do hate it when I talk to someone of a certain party for long enough; there will ALWAYS come a point where it just makes so much more sense for them to agree with the "other side", but they just can't get themselves to. It's really just self-destructive. Refreshing to see folks like you bud
Well on foreign policy issues I'm more conservative, for example, because I understand that trying to appease radicals can't be done. It's like trying to appease a bank robber by giving them a $20 bill and politely asking them to leave.
@MrServThePerv You are my fucking HERO!!!!!! I'm tired of having to buy hookers and heroin under the fear of being arrested, or robbed while I'm fucking, or as a put a needle in my vein. I'm also tired of the threat of getting STD's because under the illegal practice of prostitution/taking heroin there is no regulation they be checked, or protected by legitimate security. I fucking hate conservatives and liberals with a passion, two dumbass groups with staggering hypocrisy.
Right on! Drug prohibition is counter-productive in every way. What the government SHOULD be focusing on is harm-reduction (offering clean needles, for example). Same with prostitution - if it was legalized, it would get rid of pimps, prostitutes could have health care benefits, etc. If the gov't truly cared about public safety, they would stop living in some idealistic fantasy world where nobody acts on their own free will.
@MrServThePerv I really don't take heroin, but I tried it once, and I do smoke weed on a regular basis, I was testing to see how much you supported drug freedom. Prostitution being illegal is immoral and rediculous. There is nothing wrong with selling your body, it's just got to be watched over with intelligent regulation. Now here's what's really fucked up, you can act in porn, so basically it's alright if you have sex for money, you just have to video tape it. Stupid laws that make no sense.
Haha, I passed your test, you tricky bastard. And you're right about prostitution. Another odd thing is that if I have back pain, I can get a script of oxycodone, but if my back doesn't hurt, it's Schedule II. If the drug is TRULY bad for me, it wouldn't make a difference whether or not my back hurts.
Also, I can get a carton of cigs and a 5th of vodka, but not a gram of kush.
That doesn't mean taxes have to be excessive. The way to get money out of politics is to not have government punish success - and keep the successful from using that money to stimulate the economy. Sure, SOME taxation is necessary, but less is more when it comes to benefitting the economy.
taxes are not excessive, they are excessive on the poor and middle class. people making 60000 a year pay higher tax rates than mitt romney. and success should be spread out among all the people that helped build that business.
Yes - they are excessive on the poor and the middle class. But due to the progressive tax system, the rich pay a higher percent of taxes than people who make less.
"and success should be spread out among all the people that helped build that business." i It is, it's called a paycheck.
Ultimately, all political questions boil down to just one, and it's always the same question for every person: In what sort of society do you want to live? All the political labeling and name-calling is irrelevant, because in the end political questions are just a matter of one person's desires versus another's. Rhetoric that brands others left-wing, right-wing, liberal, conservative, racist, etc. always tells us far more about the one speaking than it does about the subject of their speech.
Look, it's the "Time Warner - HBO" asset pretending he is "against The Man" when in fact he started to figure out he was a schmuck carrying water for "the Man". Only Dave Chappelle dared to talk about the rottenness of showbiz, no one else.
He is hipocritical. What does he care about all terrain vehicles. I guess he can fly and run at 300 mph. Great comedian but in the end he was a grumpy old man.
Which is sad because socially he was freeer than most men a little older than him.
“The violence of the Left is symbolic, the injuries are not intended. The violence of the Right is real - directed at people, designed to cause injuries. Vietnam, nuclear weapons, police out of control are intentional forms of violence. The violence from the Right is aimed directly at people and the violence from the Left is aimed at institutions and symbols.” George Carlin
@IZn0g0uDatAll Vietnam? Oh yeah, Kennedy was a huge Republican! Nuclear Weapons? O right! Roosevelt & Truman were super-Republicans, I totally forgot! Police out of control: like the Democrat National Convention in 1968! Daley was uber-Republican of course. >>It's not your fault, Carlin was probably hopped up on cocain when he said this.
I'm all for free speech and for saying it how it is but there is a line. People cannot go around flinging words like nigger, fag, oriental, whatever because it WILL piss someone off. It's not worth it. Just say black guy, Indian woman, fat ass, gay guy, lesbian woman, blah blah blah. It's not being politically correct-it's just not being majorly offensive and starting trouble.
@TreyParkersBitch i kinda agree but that a slippery slope for determining what is " starting trouble" isnt protesting the government starting trouble?
@kataisa3 it's only a trick when the people you calling racists are not racists...in the case of the right wing...well, I know they are not all racists...but if someone is a racists they are more likely to vote republican. The conservatives in America have stood against equal rights for women, black people, all other minorities, and now gays and if they had their way the poor would not get to vote at all. so if you are talking discrimination the right wing is guilty of a lot of it
@Dahgrostabphri Look up the history of the Ku Klux Klan, they were created, funded, and populated by Democrats. Also, the Republicans were very much front and center of the civil rights movement. MLK was also a Republican. Trying to equate racism with religious conservatism or the Republican Party is a Democrat propaganda strategy. Senator Robert Byrd was a Klansman and a Democrat. Why do people ignore these facts but cling to myths?
@kataisa3 I totally know what you mean. I have been in school for a long time now, and am beyond sick of the left-wing atmosphere. The ironic thing about so many of the people here is that while they are calling anyone who disagrees with them racist, they are sexist and racist against white men. They make nasty comments about white people and men, try to take white men on guilt trips, and always side with women and minorities no matter who is in the wrong.
Conservatives and liberals= 2 useless factions of people duped into arguing with each other over trivial issues while the banksters and politicians loot the country. Most Republicans and Dems agree on the issues that matter like bailing out the banks, and our bloated defense budget. They don't want you talking about those issues, they want you to keep arguing over stupid stuff like evolution while they continue to loot the country.
@esc1127 lol youre so far out of touch... its funny the whole occupy wallstreet movement is a bunch of students.. and young people who wish they had something to protest instead of the vietnam war. if youre in debt 55,000 dollars or more in student loans its all of sudden peoples' fault who have a lot of money. why do peoples personal money problems turn into wall streets probelm? ugh it just makes no sense.. if i make more money and have to share it with youthatsonlytemporary
@iotaminnesota Did I say anything about student loans? no, Stop wasting my time with your lame strawman arguments. I think the government should tighten student loan lending standards myself, I do not agree with forgiving student loans, but maybe a freeze on interest while unemployed. I was complaining about the general 2 party corruption in DC and how they waste our money on bailouts and a riddiculously high defense budget. what does that have to do with OWS and loans?
Here's the evolution of becoming an enlightened American: Supporting the republican party, then supporting the democratic party, then realizing that they're both the same club of assholes and detaching yourself from the whole affair. You were an inspiration George.. You know I think he's down there now...
Sorry to clue you anti-PCers but the welfare state is not the goal of socialism. The welfare state (which has successfully born the brunt of capitalist disasters) is not the end goal of socialism. The end is the means of production and distribution owned collectively. Every loves to blame "Welfare Queens" for their problems when the real "welfare queens" are the idle 1% that owns everything (e.g. Kochs, Trumps etc.).
Carlin: "I always had a progressive agenda [...] to fight bigotry and intolerance." "interested in property rights and the other interested in human rights".
He attacked businesses, the military, fake patriotism, flag waving, religion, the rich a lot...
God loves you, and Jesus Christ is the way to Him. Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again on the 3rd day so that all who believe in Him will be saved from Hell and have eternal life. Eternal life is a free gift from God to all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
censorship from the right wing? Its the left wing faggots trying to balance everything out and censor it so its "safe for all." George Carlin lost his fucking mind. Its also funny how he is trying to criticize the left wing, seeing as how he has extreme left winged political views.
@allstar00442288 Okay, say you are married. Your partner is cheating on you with your best friend. Both of them are lying to you about it. Your wife says he made her do it, your friend says your wife seduced him. You side with your wife and cut ties with the friend. Years later you find out that this was their plan so they could continue the affair away from your scrutiny.
That's what this whole right/left thing is. They both censor, because they're both out for their own benefit, not yours.
I don't know why it took him by surprise because it should've been obvious that all that tiptoe through the tulips talk raised a generation of pansy asses. They don't understand nor crave freedom because they haven't experienced struggle.
EternalAnachronism and perdondaris certainly like posting.
I'm not sure what all the fuss about America's founding fathers is. Nor this supremely tedious conjecture about their personal views is. Does it matter?
I do not understand the interest in debating the historical nor even the modern qualities of a left or a right winger. Does it matter?
Philosophies and opinions should be developed independantly, let the idiots who care chuck a label on you.
eternalanachronism tell me wat happen to native people dat were here first and slaughterd along w/ the buffalo taken away from there land FORCED on another religion there children taken away to learn the white lifestlye . . .you simply don't understand george carlin's philosopy, and never will like everyone else w/ your closed mind
eternalanachronism tell me wat happen to native people dat were here first and slaughterd along w/ the buffalo taken away from there land FORCED on another religion there children taken away to learn the white lifestlye . . .you simply don't understand george carlin's philosopy, and never will like everyone else w/ your closed mind
He and Hitchens are religious liberals. That is the essence of liberalism. You want to do what you want, so you find BS ways to discredit God or hide who God really is by attacking the religion He made which was built upon the religion it replaced He also created--both establishing true civilization, including the most advanced science, the most advanced arts and the most advanced justice and philosophy wherever people chose to put it to its full use. Atheists have brought us societal decay.
@fool1shmortal so who or what is god? what is the religion he made? what is the religion "god" replaced? what is "true civilization? don't hesitate to answer, please.
The left's censorship took Carlin by surprise because he was out of touch with reality. Censorship has usually come from the left. By the way, I should mention that the Nazis were considered to be on the left when they were in power. And if you would dispute this, first make sure you know when and how the terms "right" and "left" originated.
The whole world is fucked but only in America are you supposed happy with your fucked up life. With the new batch of numbskulls in Washington it is only going to get worse. Especially these "libertarian" GOP jerk wads who are quite happy with a plutocratic oligarchy of irresponsible corporate dipshits. The trouble with anti-PCers (like O&A & Breitbart etc.) is that they are dumber than a sack of doorknobs and are in no position to bitch about what goes on at college campuses.
@perdondaris, consider this: during the 2008 election cycle, the Democrats received more money from corporate interests than the Republicans did. Mull that over for a while. Also consider that Barack Obama received more money from BP than any politician in the last 20 years.
The US is a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy of any kind.
watch?v=Z184mJN8CUI
Democracy is mob rule. (Like Chicago, Like gang-rape)
Our founding fathers loathed it.
Do your homework on this and then tell me why "they" call us a democracy.
The word "democracy" is not contained in any of our founding documents.
We are NOT a democracy, nor a "true democracy", nor "representative democracy". It is all encroachment to get you to become socialists, like the "Democrats" are doing.
While there are exceptions and gray areas, I think the right and left can be explained like this: The right is all about "me, me, me," and the left is about "us, us, us." In other words, the right is more selfish, and the left is more selfless.
@shelton705, except that's not what wise people's experience and research shows. Read this: "Don't listen to liberals-Right-wingers really are nicer people." You'll have to put it into a search engine, since YT doesn't allow the posting of URLs. I will also mention that research has shown time and again that conservatives give far more to charity than liberals do. So you may want to re-evaluate your thesis.
My thesis has been shaped by real world experince. When it comes to social conservatives vs social liberals, I'll side with social liberals everytime. If right wingers were "really nicer people," they wouldn't hate on gays and blacks, they wouldn't be against the disabled receiving social security checks, they wouldn't look at Christians as being superior to everybody else, and they wouldn't support socialism for the rich, yet capitalism for the poor.
You have it backwards. It was Obama who capitalized profits for corporations while socializing their losses through bailout schemes. He did this even more than Bush, which is saying a lot. You really should read the news. As for incomes and charity, you're wrong again. "Red" state residents give more to charity than "blue" state residents even though they're poorer. As for who they would help, they give to who needs it. Frankly, your subscribing to these mindless stereotypes is childish.
@EternalAnachronism He had to do a lot because the economy was a big effing mess.
Blue states gives charity to red states. Red states has more poverty, more mental illness so they need the extra help. To who needs it? How about half a million homeless, 45.000 each year dying because they have no access to real healthcare. There is a lot of need and private contributions aren't nearly enough.
Untrue. That's the standard line, but what he's done exacerbated our problems. As for the states, blue ones give no charity to red states because charity is FREELY given. What actually has happened is that the majority of blue-staters have voted for big government, which is redistributing wealth in a way they didn't INTEND. And that is the point. The red-staters who give money make a conscious decision to aid others; the blues have made no such decision with the red-staters.
And it is this difference in inclination toward charity that is the point. Of course, you know this. So let's be intellectually honest in our discourse. As for the 45,000 figure, what's your source? That's a figure pulled out of thin air and grossly exaggerated. For one thing, 80-85 percent of "homeless" are drug or alcohol addicted, and such people generally won't seek treatment whether it's available or not. I have experience with this, by the way. They need forced rehabilitation.
@EternalAnachronism Look for the 45.000 source on your own. Again, if private was enough then where is all the help? Fact is, the people want even smaller government to be even more greedy. Where is the help for the 9/11 heroes? Vets?
Look into this instead: "Childhood poverty comes at great cost to U.S. economy". Cost 500 billion each year. Society benefits when others do well, this is why it can't be left to the private to solve (private looks for cheap labor).
@EternalAnachronism There is no money in helping homeless and addicts, and they certainly do not have it on their own. They are homeless, even with the addiction, and many of them are vets who didn't receive the help they needed after the bullets stopped raining. It's another one of those false patriotic things, people say they support the troops etc but it really ends quickly doesn't it?
@Hirnlego999, You're wrong. Vets have access to free care in 1400 VA hospitals nationwide. I ought to know, too: my father was a POW during WWII and received care from the VA. The care stinks, by the way, and is a glimpse of what we'll all be subject to if ObamaCare isn't scuttled. As for the addicts, it isn't a matter of money. These people generally don't seek help (and I have personal experience with this, too - someone close to me). They need forced rehabilitation.
But forced rehabilitation is impossible, no matter how insane a person may be, thanks to the ridiculous laws the leftist scum have saddled us with (e.g., HIPPA). I know someone who is clinically insane, but his family can't get him into treatment because of the libtards. (Insane people don't usually know they're insane.) They'll just wait until he kills somebody and then put him in prison. So save it. I know all about these things. And grow up, man. Your college professors didn't know anything.
@EternalAnachronism Forget forced. The right wouldn't support it anyway as it COSTS money and people like Ron Paul say that healthcare is not a right. No, you grow up, all too many silly ad hominems, trust me, if you're going to say them then you're just wasting your and mine time. So skip 'em. Btw, "America's Mental Health, State By State " says that most mental healthproblems are in red states. Prison? Woohoo, more profit for the prison industrial complex?
@Hirnlego999, It's nice that you tacitly admit you were wrong, but it would be more manly to just own up to it. As I pointed out, the help is there for veterans, but those in the grip of drugs or alcohol often won't avail themselves of it. Thus, if you aren't interested in forced rehab, the whole conversation is a non-starter. As for the names, I call libtards what they are. They're a scourge upon Western civ., and I truly hope I live to see a day when they get what's coming to them.
@EternalAnachronism@EternalAnachronism I'm not wrong. The help isn't there for veterans, the help isn't really there for those with drug problems either, as they are not seen as sick people who should be treated but instead people who are to be thrown in jails ($). Ever wonder why Americans barely have vacations? It's because people like you are barking up the wrong trees and the name calling and anti-college talk doesn't make any of your points any more credible, you just make yourself smaller
@Hirnlego999, Well, if I get small enough, I'll be down on your level. Again, drug-and-alcohol-addicted people who have descended into the morass of homeless bum status generally don't seek help. And for people who do, there are AA and treatment programs. Anyway, criticizing government-run healthcare (the VA system) isn't a good argument for more government-run healthcare. But perhaps debating isn't your thing. Besides, Obamacare is unconstitutional. Stop doing violence to the republic.
@EternalAnachronism Small enough. You've uttered too many ad hominems to have any meaning to that, same with "debating". Name calling, name calling.
Many seek help in shelters etc, but they receive little. Again, there is no money in it so others don't really care either. If healthcare was free for all then they could of course receive help. But who cares, gotta make money right? Europeans are more healthy and they pay less. Not everything should be for profit, and you know it.
@Hirnlego999, Listen, big mouth, if you care about these things so much, donate YOUR time and YOUR money for the purposes of helping those who you believe need it. That's what GOOD people do. They don't offer to give away the shirts off OTHER'S backs. You're a moral phony with the heart of a thief.
@EternalAnachronism Emotional arguments, weak. Take healthcare for instance. About 45k die each year because they are not covered. You pay for this twice as much for this. But I guess that's what you folks wish to do. You're free to pay more, free to pay more, for less. A country which cannot take care of those who needs help is not in good shape, and in this USA fits perfectly. It isn't enough that people on individual level help, because they already do. The system is at fault.
@Hirnlego999,You don't get it. I won the debate a long time ago. Now I'm just spitting on you because that's all you deserve. You're a little spoiled brat punk, and I hope I live to see the day when you and your little comrades get yours.
@EternalAnachronism All you got is ad hominems.A small gov guy who wants to force people to clean up, but likely, very likely do not wish to pay for it. Don't give me that false empathy. During presidential debate the audience cheer a dying uninsured man. Love soldiers too, unless they are gay. I would say that the party is kind of indifferent, but it is worse, it's unempathic unless it is for the top echelon of society. Can't help them enough. And oh, the poor don't pay taxes enough.
@Hirnlego999, And all you've got is the brainwashing your teachers subjected you to. You sound very young and like a real product of the government school system. Enjoy your luxuries and idiotic ideology while you can, because you're going to pay the price for your moral corruption. And when matters spiral out of control and we can settle this culture war the old-fashioned way, you will be brought to heel.
@EternalAnachronism Right, like critical thinking when it comes to religion, politics, authority, the press, businessmen, drugs. Be skeptical and look for evidence, horrible brainwashing. You're an empty shell of a debater because all you really got is ad hominems. Oooh, old fashioned way, really scary, more emotional arguments. Moral corruption? Pfft, I'm not one of you guys. Carlin disliked the right the most. Too much respect for authority and ridiculous property worshiping. And religion.
I am a veteran from Iraq I came home from injury and they paid my rent and all my bills for one year and after that nothing I'm 21 and now. More than 30,000 soldiers had to sue the VFW and the VA for erasing veterans records and erasing citizenship of homeless veterans that complained about benefits. They were deported. They have built private jails just north of my town for homeless vets. 200,00 homeless vets since 1989.
@antoniotitus, This is a lie. You cannot deport American citizens. Where would they be deported to, anyway? Do you think other nations just take destitute citizens of other nations for fun? They wouldn't be allowed entry. Moreover, if such a thing happened, it would easily be the biggest news story of the year. So if you have proof, bring it to the media. Of course, you don't, though. Because you are either a liar or an extremely naive man who believes whatever conforms with your agenda.
I lost my job as an ombudsman for the national guard for three mass bases, for inbound and outbound to an insurance company. After that then they couldn't afford BDU's . Those uniforms are gone since 2009. I still wear mine. People hack computers and alter information it's happened to the best of us. High levels have been hacked and robbed so have banks and even my wife and I. Criminals only survive if they have power, fear and money. They rid of those they don't like. Help all that you can.
@antoniotitus, Whatever your situation, I hope God blesses you abundantly. However, after that lie you told (about 200,000 vets being "deported"), I can't take what you say at face value. Of course, though, I do realize that corruption exists, and it shouldn't be tolerated for one moment.
@shelton705, If liberals really were nicer people, they wouldn't hate Christians and conservatives. By the way, using the phrase "hate on" makes you sound like an idiot.
@EternalAnachronism Right. And from you I've seen a lot of christian love. From the supposed meek and mild, blessed are the peacemakers, turn the other cheek, love thy neighbor crowd.
Carlin was a non-believer and he belonged to the most distrusted / hated group in USA. And the hatred comes from the believers. People like you.
I'm done with you, little boy. Respond if you want to, but I'll delete the emails without even opening them. You're not even worth the time I've already wasted on you.
@EternalAnachronism How fantastic of you to ask for niceness from "libtards". You don't own a mirror do you? The cognitive dissonance must be nice so.. Wear it well.
@EternalAnachronism we dont hate christians or conservatives, we hate what these people do. we HATE when christians undermine scientific progress, teaching creationist bs instead of actual science. we HATE when conservatives dub us as traitors when we disagree with a republican president and then as sheep when we agree with a democrat. we HATE when christians scream for freedom of religion and then do everything possible to create a theocracy. not exactly a burning cross on the front lawn, bud.
@avalsonline2 And you know what I hate? When the left advocates spending public funds for foot baths for Muslim students out of respect for their religious requirements, but says that red and green M&Ms at school parties during December--candies that are not even bought by the school--are not allowed lest anyone associate those colors with (GASP!) Christmas! Oh no! Not that!
@L5player you know what? i agree. the mnm example is bullshit. but there is a difference between red and green mnms and school lead prayer. which brings it right back to the 1st amendment. the state or state entities like public schools and courts need to be neutral regarding religion. is it not the christian right that incists on freedom of religion, but then screams that US is a christian country and that we need the ten commandments in the court house?
@avalsonline2 Glad you see the silliness of the Candy Rule. But the 1st Amendment has been torn wholesale from its meaning over time. The Constitution prohibits Congress from making a law that inhibits or promotes a religion. It doesn't prohibit school prayers, Christmas vacation, or valedictorians mentioning Jesus. And throughout most of our history, we all knew that. The Constitution hasn't changed. We just choose to ignore it.
@L5player constitution has changed. 17 times. the 1st amendment is used in conjunction with the 14th amendment. this extends the 1st amendment requirements to the state. if a teacher leads children in a christian prayer, what does that say to the jewish muslim and other kinds of students? and if a valedictorian starts talking about christianity, what do we say to others? you dont count?christians like to pretend that they are the only ones living in the US and that is not true.
@iotaminnesota what if i am a polytheist? or a diest? or an atheist?
would you like the federal government telling you to pledge allegiance to one nation under all olympic gods? or sheeba and krishna? is your faith so weak that you need the government to reaffirm it?
if you want to woship do it in a church, in oyur home, in a prayer group, in private. according to the constitution and the law, the government and all its entities are neutral when it comes to religion.
and when i was in school. you know what i did? i didnt stand up and do it.. you don't get in trouble for not going participating. i dont need the government to reinforce my beliefs cuz i dont share the religious ones in the first place. but im not offended by it, nor should people following a different religion be. there is private school, and i'm sure there is a private school pertaining to all major religions.
@iotaminnesota it is not a matter of offensiveness. it is a matter of law. the government and all its entities are supposed to represent all its citizens equally, regardless of many things, religion among them. if you want to excersise your faith, or the lack there of, do so on oyur own time and money. i pay my taxes for the schools to teach children, not to single out the wrong kind of believers in front of their peers. if i dont worship the "right" god or the "only" god, its my business.
@avalsonline2 dude.. its optional.. the whole reason we have public schools.. its just the way it is man.. its been like this forever.. its a tradition of you will. like i said.. when i was in high school.. i didnt do it.. its as simple as that.. how can you care if its the "law" as you say? I guarantee you that in this day and age, any non christian or any non deist could go to the principal and have it arranged where they could get ear plugs as to not hear the pledge of allegiance.
@avalsonline2 Thank you for saying that so I don't have to take the time. Just want to add that we don't even need a pledge of allegiance. Its a tool to control people, blind patriotism, people feeling pride for something that wasn't achieved. And some teachers do make students atleast stand for the pledge.
@avalsonline2 and you act like its "i pledge allegiance to god of the united states of god and to the god for which god stands one nation under god with god and god for all"
its a pledge of allegiance to the flag.. they are saying this country had to come from something, and they are honoring it. its an honor of the country... it says "under" god. thats "a" god not the god, or your god..
As far as them giving more to charity, they usually make more money because that's what they value most in life. They also would rather give to charity than have the government tax them to give to to the poor because they want control over who they help. If they could choose to help a poor Christian or a disabled gay man, who do you think they would choose? Government sees people as equal and takes away that choice, and they don't like it.
Yeah, because he felt the situation had no remedy. He criticized injustice and hypocrisy in his books. I feel the same way he does about America's so called left-Clinton, Gore, Obama etc. But he criticized the "libertarian" right with as much gusto. How the founding fathers were slave owners who wanted to be free. I find capitalist "libertarians" (atheist conservatives like Penn&Teller) to be as big a fraud as Scientology.
@perdondaris, if he said what you indicate about the founders, then he really didn't understand the issue. Many of the founders strongly objected to slavery, but they didn't have the power to end it at the time of the nation's founding. And I should mention that this is made clear in their writings. The problem is that most people are quick to form opinions, but slow to educate themselves so that they're qualified to do so.
Actually George Carlin ended up talking about all of humanity.
Noticed how his most critical comments are talking about the US as a whole, or even to the extent of humanity as a whole.
Left or right it does not matter to Carlin much as the considers both side to be pathetic.
Also I love hurting people's feelings, and I don't mind if people tries to hurt my feeling. One opinion always meet with oppositions, but the sign of maturity is to not suppress the opposing views.
@Neosaigo Completely agree.... this nonsense of Liberal Democrat this conservative republican bullshit... is just arrogance.... because we as people believe in this stupid shit... we still believe that we have freedom because we have chocolate and vanilla on election day and still think we are free people... the only thing that George Carlin was interested in was HUMANITY... like Carl Sagan and Neil DeGrasse Tyson... most of us cant look at a human outside their own neighborhood...
@xtcsx and then some people wonder why these elected fuckers in their 3000 dollar suits (doesnt neeed capitalism... communism was still ruled by jerkoffs in 3000 dollar suits then wheres the fucking equality? Well soviet russia was anyway...) And everybody just seems to be ok with electing a ruling class that only cares for themselves and is interested in their own personal gain and not those of the people? the peoples response in america? we elect them for a second term.. fuck these retards
@Neosaigo THANK YOU. I personally am a Libertarian ideologue who, realizing that, thanks in part to his actions, his party will not see the light of day for some time, tends Republican. I am quite willing to hold an intelligent discourse on hot-button issues, but few others are (and good luck finding them on the internet; one of a few things google hasn't found for me yet: intelligent discourse on matters of ANY kind.)
@Neosaigo Biggest problem is Americans have no idea of what moderation is. Carlin did not mean go around saying upsetting shit to people just to be an arsehole. What he did say is don't be a sensitive cunt to every little thing that doesn't agree with your feelings because not everything is going to agree with you. Especially him, because I seen how he reacts to hecklers, he clowns them but in a mean way not a funny way like other comedians.
Carlin isn't a liberal. He is a socialist. There is a bourgeois left (Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, Obama) and there is a radical left (Chomsky, Zinn, Hicks). The bourgeois left is yellow. The radical left is red. It is like the difference between market anarchists and social anarchists. Market anarchists see injustice and then do nothing (e.g. the market will fix it). Red anarchists don't wait for "the market" or other people to fix injustices. They do something about it themselves.
@perdondaris The market does not fix itself, not when the market becomes the government.
When the laws are made for those in control of the market, the market does not function properly.
Free market is only possible when the government keep it in check. Our current problem is the market is controlling the government policies, so the market does not all follow the same rule. Big business squash small businesses by making rules favorable and become too big to fail.
Hahaha. I see you're one on of those morons who believes in patriotism, capitalism and religion. Why don''t you buy yourself a gun and go hunt terrorists in Afghanistan by yourself. Except pay your own airfare and food and board instead of leeching off the state.
@devincyb1 Individualism isn't a crock, it's the people who use individualism as a cloak for greed. Greed and self interest are two different things. A glutton lives to eat. A rational man eats to live. Greed is a sign of social problems--narcissistic personality disorder. The tyrant is alone in the world. He cannot empathize with anyone. He is constantly fearful. There is a reason they say it is lonely at the top. Its because you get there by stabbing all of your friends in the back.
@devincyb1 and leave it to an ignoramus like you to view knowledge passed along from man to man as the metaphysically given. where the fuck do you think that knowledge came from, thin air? it came from the creative faculty, the mind, of the INDIVIDUAL you dumbass.
again i point out, what is it that made you post your opinion on here? collective thought? some supernatural force? or your own fucking volition.
when you decide you kick the anticonceptualism, maybe someone will take u srsly.
@devincyb1 and where did I 'blame Africa's situation on tribalism'?
not only are you an ignoramus, but you can't read.
or is it that you just CAN'T resist taking what someone says, twisting it to fit your own argument, and then using it as a straw man? grow the fuck up and learn how to actually make a point or use some Aristotelian logic, something that clearly is absent from your brain.
@devincyb1 Where did I say I could live without society? I said society is merely a collection of individuals. What a pathetic human being you are that instead of saying, ok, you're right, society is just a collection of individuals (i.e. the truth), you put words into my mouth and then proceed with a straw man and then personal attacks (the true hallmark of someone who's right, of course).
Shall I pay for your plane ticket, mr. collectivist?
@devincyb1 This from a guy who doesn't even grasp what tribalism is or entails. This from a guy WHO CITES WIKIPEDIA FOR HISTORY? That says a lot.
You are so ignorant that any group of INDIVIDUALS to you is a 'tribe'. Yet you act as if you're somehow holier than thou making an ignorant argument based off a misunderstanding of a very basic concept.
Now, are there any other words or ideas you'd like to put into my mouth so you can tear them down as a straw man like an anticonceptual ignoramus?
@devincyb1 and i guess it was the tribe that made you come and post YOUR OPINION here? it was collective thought (a nonexistent concept) huh? do you realize how big of a jackass you look like?
just move to statist china...or better yet, africa. i hear they enjoy the tribalism thing there, you'll fit right in.
@devincyb1 ur also a dumbass for thinking that the only way someone can survive is through the tribe.last time i checked, the baker, grocer, etc.were all INDIVIDUALS that can choose to sell or not sell what they want, TO WHO THEY WANT.well, I guess they can't do that in the kind of country you'd love to live in.INDIVIDUALS neeever can get together to do INDIVIDUAL TASKS that will benefit others.and hey genius, 'society' or 'the tribe' is merely a collection of INDIVIDUALS.Again, read a fucking book
@devincyb1 you are so delusional, how do YOU sleep at night?
so you think galileo and einstein and edison invented things for the tribe.
you are the fucking idiot. and again, you wouldnt be on the internet (which wouldnt BE INVENTED YOU TARD) if it werent for INDIVIDUALISM AND INDIVIDUAL THOUGHT.
know what happens when people stick to tribalism? look at Africa you dipshit. nobody questions the status quo, and when they do, they're usually killed/chastised for it. read a fucking book u dumbass
and how does proving my point, that kantianism and anticonceptualists (tribalists) dominate the world, somehow show that individualism is bs? i didnt know society's invented things. what society invented the lightbulb again? oh right, it was a fucking INDIVIDUAL who was inventing thing NOT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE TRIBE but for his own personal fulfillment. You think Einstein's works were motivated by the tribe? Galileos? Socrates? You're a fucking idiot. But thanks for making that clear.
A " three wheeled vehicle" making a mark on the dirt? Woooo that's really going to hurt the environment. Newsflash ! Grass grows back . It's not like nothings ever going to grow there again . Leftys are such dipshits .
"... if you dropped me off a space platform onto the ground where a line was drawn, I would fall to the left side of it. I believe the difference between right and left is that the right, for the most part, the bulk of their philosophy is interested in property, ... And I think on the left—though they blend and mix—on the left primarily you will find people who are more concerned about humans, and the human condition, and what can be done." -- George Carlin
@SwiftyLeZar and btw the left CLAIMS to care about humanity when its just bullshit rhetoric thats BEEN SPIT BY MYSTICS FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. its called kantianism and its teh dominant world philosophy (and why the world is going to shit). self immolation to the nonexistent 'common good' or 'good of the country' is heralded as the highest moral imperative, despite that 'good' pertains only to individuals and their values and society is but a collection of individudals. thus, its mystic bullshit
@SwiftyLeZar yea its a good point.. but the left doesnt ever finish what they start.. i dont vote.. im with carlin on that one.. i would consider myself more right than left. but im not religious.. have an abortion if you want, ( i think its irresponsible) but cant i keep my money? the progressive tax sucks.. but my point is.. dems are known for supporting minorities and less fortunate.. but there is never any progress made. i think democrats promote alll this just to get the vote
@iotaminnesota Democrats have made no progress for minorities and the less fortunate? Have you ever heard of the Civil Rights Act of 1964? The Voting Rights Act of 1965? The minimum wage (which, in addition to helping create, they recently raised to $7.25/hr. after years of stagnation)? The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act? Medicare? Medicaid? Overtime pay? Unemployment pay? Social Security? The Children's Health Insurance Program?
For a party that's done nothing, they sure seem to have done a lot.
@SwiftyLeZar besides the civil rights act and the voting act (which you cant say was all left by any means) all of the programs you mentioned haven't done anything. why is it that minorities vote left? they get free shit.
its literally as simple as that.
do you know what percent of people on unemployment actually find a job before their benefits end?
I'm not saying minorities are bad people, but i know too many mothers with kids who would rather have nice gin, cognac and a blackberry then to
@iotaminnesota You're contradicting yourself. If Democratic programs don't do anything for minorities, why do you think minorities get "free shit" for voting Dem? (Also, Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts were not all the left, but they were primarily Democratic laws, and of that primarily the left wing of the Dem Party).
And those programs DO work. Social Security keeps 40% of elderly people out of poverty. Medicaid and SCHIP provide health care for 36 million poor children. Just 2 examples.
@SwiftyLeZar thats why the keep voting left. because they know if they keep democrats in the house and in congress, they will continue to get their free stuff, food stamps, unemployment benefits without looking for work, etc. if you think democrats are behind social security, you have completely lost it. this is why socialized medicine is retarded as well. in england, canada, holland etc, the welfare of a patient is of the governments concern, not the doctors. its up to the gov't not the doctor.
@SwiftyLeZar Civil Rights Act? Voting Rights Act? You mean the legislation that more of the left OPPOSED than did the right? Who refused to integrate schools of the south? Lester Maddox, Orvil Flaubus, George Wallace. Dems. Whose father voted against Civil Rights laws? Al Gore's.
Minimum wage laws? They just keep low-skilled teens unemployed. I'd rather be employed at $5/hr than unemployed at what would have been $7.25/hr.
@L5player You're confusing "Democrats" with "the left." Not all Democrats were "the left" and not all Republicans were "the right", the way they are now. There were many southern racist Democrats who opposed civil rights (most of whom, btw, defected to the GOP after Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act). But, as Newt Gingrich said, it was the liberal wing of the Democratic Party that ended segregation.
And it's not true that the minimum wage keeps teens unemployed. Read the Card-Krueger study.
@L5player Also, Al Gore Sr. wasn't against civil rights laws. When asked to sign the Dixiecrats' "Southern Manifesto", which was a promise to oppose civil rights legislation, Gore Sr. famously responded, "hell no."
Gore Sr. supported the Voting Rights Act, but not the Civil Rights Act -- but his opposition to the Act was not because he was racist.
More Democrats than Republicans voted for the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, both of which were signed by a Dem president. Read the history.

MrServThePerv 6 days ago
@MrServThePerv The European countries that are in bad shape now are the southern, more conservative ones. The ones further north like the Scandinavian countries are in great shape, and guess what? They're the furthest left politically in Europe.
Woblesavvy 4 days ago
@Woblesavvy

I'm also tired of the threat of getting STD's because under the illegal practice of prostitution/taking heroin there is no regulation they be checked, or protected by legitimate security. I fucking hate conservatives and liberals with a passion, two dumbass groups with staggering hypocrisy.
StevenMJiggalo 1 month ago 2
@StevenMJiggalo
MrServThePerv 1 month ago
@MrServThePerv I really don't take heroin, but I tried it once, and I do smoke weed on a regular basis, I was testing to see how much you supported drug freedom. Prostitution being illegal is immoral and rediculous. There is nothing wrong with selling your body, it's just got to be watched over with intelligent regulation. Now here's what's really fucked up, you can act in porn, so basically it's alright if you have sex for money, you just have to video tape it. Stupid laws that make no sense.

@StevenMJiggalo

13stevejohnson 3 days ago
@13stevejohnson
That doesn't mean taxes have to be excessive. The way to get money out of politics is to not have government punish success - and keep the successful from using that money to stimulate the economy. Sure, SOME taxation is necessary, but less is more when it comes to benefitting the economy.
MrServThePerv 3 days ago
@MrServThePerv
taxes are not excessive, they are excessive on the poor and middle class. people making 60000 a year pay higher tax rates than mitt romney. and success should be spread out among all the people that helped build that business.

Yes - they are excessive on the poor and the middle class. But due to the progressive tax system, the rich pay a higher percent of taxes than people who make less.

The left's censorship took Carlin by surprise because he was out of touch with reality. Censorship has usually come from the left. By the way, I should mention that the Nazis were considered to be on the left when they were in power. And if you would dispute this, first make sure you know when and how the terms "right" and "left" originated.

Sorry.

While there are exceptions and gray areas, I think the right and left can be explained like this: The right is all about "me, me, me," and the left is about "us, us, us." In other words, the right is more selfish, and the left is more selfless.
shelton705 4 months ago
@shelton705, except that's not what wise people's experience and research shows. Read this: "Don't listen to liberals-Right-wingers really are nicer people." You'll have to put it into a search engine, since YT doesn't allow the posting of URLs. I will also mention that research has shown time and again that conservatives give far more to charity than liberals do. So you may want to re-evaluate your thesis.
EternalAnachronism 4 months ago
@EternalAnachronism
My thesis has been shaped by real world experince. When it comes to social conservatives vs social liberals, I'll side with social liberals everytime. If right wingers were "really nicer people," they wouldn't hate on gays and blacks, they wouldn't be against the disabled receiving social security checks, they wouldn't look at Christians as being superior to everybody else, and they wouldn't support socialism for the rich, yet capitalism for the poor.
shelton705 3 months ago
You have it backwards. It was Obama who capitalized profits for corporations while socializing their losses through bailout schemes. He did this even more than Bush, which is saying a lot. You really should read the news. As for incomes and charity, you're wrong again. "Red" state residents give more to charity than "blue" state residents even though they're poorer. As for who they would help, they give to who needs it. Frankly, your subscribing to these mindless stereotypes is childish.
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
@EternalAnachronism He had to do a lot because the economy was a big effing mess.
Blue states gives charity to red states. Red states has more poverty, more mental illness so they need the extra help. To who needs it? How about half a million homeless, 45.000 each year dying because they have no access to real healthcare. There is a lot of need and private contributions aren't nearly enough.
Hirnlego999 3 months ago
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
And it is this difference in inclination toward charity that is the point. Of course, you know this. So let's be intellectually honest in our discourse. As for the 45,000 figure, what's your source? That's a figure pulled out of thin air and grossly exaggerated. For one thing, 80-85 percent of "homeless" are drug or alcohol addicted, and such people generally won't seek treatment whether it's available or not. I have experience with this, by the way. They need forced rehabilitation.
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
@EternalAnachronism Look for the 45.000 source on your own. Again, if private was enough then where is all the help? Fact is, the people want even smaller government to be even more greedy. Where is the help for the 9/11 heroes? Vets?
Look into this instead: "Childhood poverty comes at great cost to U.S. economy". Cost 500 billion each year. Society benefits when others do well, this is why it can't be left to the private to solve (private looks for cheap labor).
Hirnlego999 3 months ago
@EternalAnachronism There is no money in helping homeless and addicts, and they certainly do not have it on their own. They are homeless, even with the addiction, and many of them are vets who didn't receive the help they needed after the bullets stopped raining. It's another one of those false patriotic things, people say they support the troops etc but it really ends quickly doesn't it?
Hirnlego999 3 months ago
@Hirnlego999, You're wrong. Vets have access to free care in 1400 VA hospitals nationwide. I ought to know, too: my father was a POW during WWII and received care from the VA. The care stinks, by the way, and is a glimpse of what we'll all be subject to if ObamaCare isn't scuttled. As for the addicts, it isn't a matter of money. These people generally don't seek help (and I have personal experience with this, too - someone close to me). They need forced rehabilitation.
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
But forced rehabilitation is impossible, no matter how insane a person may be, thanks to the ridiculous laws the leftist scum have saddled us with (e.g., HIPPA). I know someone who is clinically insane, but his family can't get him into treatment because of the libtards. (Insane people don't usually know they're insane.) They'll just wait until he kills somebody and then put him in prison. So save it. I know all about these things. And grow up, man. Your college professors didn't know anything.
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
@EternalAnachronism Forget forced. The right wouldn't support it anyway as it COSTS money and people like Ron Paul say that healthcare is not a right. No, you grow up, all too many silly ad hominems, trust me, if you're going to say them then you're just wasting your and mine time. So skip 'em. Btw, "America's Mental Health, State By State " says that most mental healthproblems are in red states. Prison? Woohoo, more profit for the prison industrial complex?
Hirnlego999 3 months ago
@Hirnlego999, It's nice that you tacitly admit you were wrong, but it would be more manly to just own up to it. As I pointed out, the help is there for veterans, but those in the grip of drugs or alcohol often won't avail themselves of it. Thus, if you aren't interested in forced rehab, the whole conversation is a non-starter. As for the names, I call libtards what they are. They're a scourge upon Western civ., and I truly hope I live to see a day when they get what's coming to them.
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
@EternalAnachronism @EternalAnachronism I'm not wrong.
Hirnlego999 3 months ago
@Hirnlego999, Well, if I get small enough, I'll be down on your level. Again, drug-and-alcohol-addicted people who have descended into the morass of homeless bum status generally don't seek help. And for people who do, there are AA and treatment programs. Anyway, criticizing government-run healthcare (the VA system) isn't a good argument for more government-run healthcare. But perhaps debating isn't your thing. Besides, Obamacare is unconstitutional. Stop doing violence to the republic.
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
@EternalAnachronism Small enough. You've uttered too many ad hominems to have any meaning to that, same with "debating". Name calling, name calling.
Many seek help in shelters etc, but they receive little. Again, there is no money in it so others don't really care either. If healthcare was free for all then they could of course receive help. But who cares, gotta make money right? Europeans are more healthy and they pay less. Not everything should be for profit, and you know it.
Hirnlego999 3 months ago
@Hirnlego999, Listen, big mouth, if you care about these things so much, donate YOUR time and YOUR money for the purposes of helping those who you believe need it. That's what GOOD people do. They don't offer to give away the shirts off OTHER'S backs. You're a moral phony with the heart of a thief.
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
@EternalAnachronism Emotional arguments, weak. Take healthcare for instance. About 45k die each year because they are not covered. You pay for this twice as much for this. But I guess that's what you folks wish to do. You're free to pay more, free to pay more, for less. A country which cannot take care of those who needs help is not in good shape, and in this USA fits perfectly. It isn't enough that people on individual level help, because they already do. The system is at fault.
Hirnlego999 3 months ago
@Hirnlego999,You don't get it. I won the debate a long time ago. Now I'm just spitting on you because that's all you deserve. You're a little spoiled brat punk, and I hope I live to see the day when you and your little comrades get yours.
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
@EternalAnachronism All you got is ad hominems.A small gov guy who wants to force people to clean up, but likely, very likely do not wish to pay for it. Don't give me that false empathy. During presidential debate the audience cheer a dying uninsured man. Love soldiers too, unless they are gay. I would say that the party is kind of indifferent, but it is worse, it's unempathic unless it is for the top echelon of society. Can't help them enough. And oh, the poor don't pay taxes enough.
Hirnlego999 3 months ago
@Hirnlego999, And all you've got is the brainwashing your teachers subjected you to. You sound very young and like a real product of the government school system. Enjoy your luxuries and idiotic ideology while you can, because you're going to pay the price for your moral corruption. And when matters spiral out of control and we can settle this culture war the old-fashioned way, you will be brought to heel.
EternalAnachronism 3 months ago
@EternalAnachronism Right, like critical thinking when it comes to religion, politics, authority, the press, businessmen, drugs. Be skeptical and look for evidence, horrible brainwashing. You're an empty shell of a debater because all you really got is ad hominems. Oooh, old fashioned way, really scary, more emotional arguments. Moral corruption? Pfft, I'm not one of you guys. Carlin disliked the right the most. Too much respect for authority and ridiculous property worshiping. And religion.
Hirnlego999 3 months ago
I am a veteran from Iraq I came home from injury and they paid my rent and all my bills for one year and after that nothing I'm 21 and now. More than 30,000 soldiers had to sue the VFW and the VA for erasing veterans records and erasing citizenship of homeless veterans that complained about benefits. They were deported. They have built private jails just north of my town for homeless vets. 200,00 homeless vets since 1989.
antoniotitus 3 months ago
@antoniotitus, This is a lie. You cannot deport American citizens. Where would they be deported to, anyway? Do you think other nations just take destitute citizens of other nations for fun? They wouldn't be allowed entry. Moreover, if such a thing happened, it would easily be the biggest news story of the year. So if you have proof, bring it to the media. Of course, you don't, though. Because you are either a liar or an extremely naive man who believes whatever conforms with your agenda.

Oh no! Not that!
L5player 2 months ago
@L5player you know what? i agree. the mnm example is bullshit. but there is a difference between red and green mnms and school lead prayer. which brings it right back to the 1st amendment. the state or state entities like public schools and courts need to be neutral regarding religion. is it not the christian right that incists on freedom of religion, but then screams that US is a christian country and that we need the ten commandments in the court house?
avalsonline2 2 months ago
@avalsonline2 Glad you see the silliness of the Candy Rule. But the 1st Amendment has been torn wholesale from its meaning over time. The Constitution prohibits Congress from making a law that inhibits or promotes a religion. It doesn't prohibit school prayers, Christmas vacation, or valedictorians mentioning Jesus. And throughout most of our history, we all knew that. The Constitution hasn't changed. We just choose to ignore it.
L5player 2 months ago
@L5player constitution has changed. 17 times. the 1st amendment is used in conjunction with the 14th amendment. this extends the 1st amendment requirements to the state. if a teacher leads children in a christian prayer, what does that say to the jewish muslim and other kinds of students? and if a valedictorian starts talking about christianity, what do we say to others? you dont count?christians like to pretend that they are the only ones living in the US and that is not true.

@iotaminnesota what if i am a polytheist? or a diest? or an atheist?
would you like the federal government telling you to pledge allegiance to one nation under all olympic gods? or sheeba and krishna? is your faith so weak that you need the government to reaffirm it?
if you want to woship do it in a church, in oyur home, in a prayer group, in private. according to the constitution and the law, the government and all its entities are neutral when it comes to religion.
avalsonline2 2 months ago
@avalsonline2 im agnostic..
and when i was in school. you know what i did? i didnt stand up and do it.. you don't get in trouble for not going participating. i dont need the government to reinforce my beliefs cuz i dont share the religious ones in the first place. but im not offended by it, nor should people following a different religion be. there is private school, and i'm sure there is a private school pertaining to all major religions.
iotaminnesota 2 months ago
@iotaminnesota it is not a matter of offensiveness. it is a matter of law. the government and all its entities are supposed to represent all its citizens equally, regardless of many things, religion among them. if you want to excersise your faith, or the lack there of, do so on oyur own time and money. i pay my taxes for the schools to teach children, not to single out the wrong kind of believers in front of their peers. if i dont worship the "right" god or the "only" god, its my business.
avalsonline2 2 months ago
@avalsonline2 dude.. its optional.. the whole reason we have public schools.. its just the way it is man.. its been like this forever.. its a tradition of you will. like i said.. when i was in high school.. i didnt do it.. its as simple as that.. how can you care if its the "law" as you say? I guarantee you that in this day and age, any non christian or any non deist could go to the principal and have it arranged where they could get ear plugs as to not hear the pledge of allegiance.
iotaminnesota 2 months ago
@avalsonline2 Thank you for saying that so I don't have to take the time. Just want to add that we don't even need a pledge of allegiance. Its a tool to control people, blind patriotism, people feeling pride for something that wasn't achieved. And some teachers do make students atleast stand for the pledge.
newrealization12 2 months ago
@avalsonline2 and you act like its "i pledge allegiance to god of the united states of god and to the god for which god stands one nation under god with god and god for all"
its a pledge of allegiance to the flag.. they are saying this country had to come from something, and they are honoring it. its an honor of the country... it says "under" god. thats "a" god not the god, or your god..
its your non god, your allah, your moses..

I find capitalist "libertarians" (atheist conservatives like Penn&Teller) to be as big a fraud as Scientology.
perdondaris 4 months ago
@perdondaris, if he said what you indicate about the founders, then he really didn't understand the issue. Many of the founders strongly objected to slavery, but they didn't have the power to end it at the time of the nation's founding. And I should mention that this is made clear in their writings. The problem is that most people are quick to form opinions, but slow to educate themselves so that they're qualified to do so.
EternalAnachronism 4 months ago
Actually George Carlin ended up talking about all of humanity.
Noticed how his most critical comments are talking about the US as a whole, or even to the extent of humanity as a whole.
Left or right it does not matter to Carlin much as the considers both side to be pathetic.
Also I love hurting people's feelings, and I don't mind if people tries to hurt my feeling. One opinion always meet with oppositions, but the sign of maturity is to not suppress the opposing views.

@Neosaigo Completely agree.... this nonsense of Liberal Democrat this conservative republican bullshit... is just arrogance.... because we as people believe in this stupid shit... we still believe that we have freedom because we have chocolate and vanilla on election day and still think we are free people... the only thing that George Carlin was interested in was HUMANITY... like Carl Sagan and Neil DeGrasse Tyson... most of us cant look at a human outside their own neighborhood...

artistwithouttalent 3 months ago
@Neosaigo Biggest problem is Americans have no idea of what moderation is. Carlin did not mean go around saying upsetting shit to people just to be an arsehole. What he did say is don't be a sensitive cunt to every little thing that doesn't agree with your feelings because not everything is going to agree with you. Especially him, because I seen how he reacts to hecklers, he clowns them but in a mean way not a funny way like other comedians.
DMalenfant1 3 months ago
Carlin isn't a liberal. He is a socialist. There is a bourgeois left (Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, Obama) and there is a radical left (Chomsky, Zinn, Hicks). The bourgeois left is yellow. The radical left is red. It is like the difference between market anarchists and social anarchists. Market anarchists see injustice and then do nothing (e.g. the market will fix it). Red anarchists don't wait for "the market" or other people to fix injustices. They do something about it themselves.
perdondaris 4 months ago
@perdondaris The market does not fix itself, not when the market becomes the government.
When the laws are made for those in control of the market, the market does not function properly.
Free market is only possible when the government keep it in check. Our current problem is the market is controlling the government policies, so the market does not all follow the same rule. Big business squash small businesses by making rules favorable and become too big to fail.
