The triangle fits the arch... one more step and he'll be on the pipe just like in a 5 point arc. The triangle just helps to split the field and cut down angles.
instead of saying just 'triangle', I would say 'triangle arc', it helps keep people less confused cus there's differents arcs such as: 5-step semi circle arc, 4-step triangle arc, flat 3-step arc, etc. Just saying 'triangle' is just kinda odd. But good vid none the less.
im a second year and not a pro but 1 good tip is dont be afraid to take it down!!!!! if you have a shot take it. if not get it down to the attack and get ready for the rebound.
@clockstopper77 wall ball, practice getting the ball in and out of your stick quick WITH a good pass. practice your speed and sticks skills while your dodging
these goalies dont even have the right stance or position in these examples they are in a totally unathletic position they need to get lower and attack the ball when it comes at them not move from side to side.
the triangle is actually a reputable foot positioning technique. there are many different ways (some of which i dont implore you to use, no arc, etc.). I am going to start using the triangle and this really does help on fast breaks and stuff, thanks for the vid pure. helped alot
Wow....instead of just having negative comments you should realize there are many ways to complete goalie techniques. You should write the way you think works as well so everyone can learn.
@PrimeSportsTraining but it doesn't help goalies to show bad shots on cage "practice like u play" so showing them bad practice techniques by shooting on a goalie terribly isn't ganna help anyone
First off, instructional videos arent always meant to be exciting, there meant to teach. I like the video and I'm gonna try this out tomorow, I personaly prefer a 5 step arc, which i gues is a semi circle. Also is this an RIT goalie?
Imo, I like the triangle better then the semi circle, being a goalie for 3 years. It gives the shape of the shot easier to save. Anyways, it sounds more of a physcological thing then anything.
im kinda small, only standing 5'6. i use the semi circle, and i play left handed... after learning most of the basics i started to bait a half step to the right, forcing shots stickside.
btw, if your playing on a grass field mark your center, gle, and quarters so you dont overstep!
good video, but i like to use a semi circle because you have good angle on it and your not turned so much so you might have a better chance stoping -it thats just from my experince

good video. but it is a better idea to have the goalies hands together. very key and helpful while trying to get the faster shots

Many mids don't have the stick stills to be good. The best way to fix that is to bring your stick to school and hit the wall daily!

a three step arch is similar to a triangle but the arch is a little more flexible in your movements
but i feel ya on the arch though

yeah it looks more for a fast break or faster middies split dodging so i guess this would be the best way to cover

im a lax goalie and this vid is ok but i like to use an arch

You should use the arc most of the time. This is a trick to be used only when a midfielder is dodging from the top.
