Thanks so much for spotlighting one of the favorite singers of my childhood. This makes me remember when we used to have REAL music, and a fairly coherent lifestyle; then came James Dean and Elvis Presley...
Vaughn used to sing on stage in West Falmouth on Cape Cod... He also dated my Aunt Martha... My parents said he drove a big convertible and was a real regular guy...
What was the deal with 'Racing with The Moon'? My dad said it referenced a lover killed in a car accident? Anyone know of this connection?
He was a good singer, almost as good as Frank Sinatra.I saw him in an episode of Bonanza,The Wooing of Miss Abigail Jones. He was a great cowboy actor also. They should release his songs a CD. He had a Lawrence Welk style about his singing I find quite charming.
I loved that Bonanza episode. Vaughn taught one of the Cartright boys how to serenade his sweetheart! Vaughn got to sing his latest Dot recording in the show...Vaughn made, as I recall, 2 singing cowboy flicks for Republic, after their singing cowboy star, Roy Rogers, moved on to a TV series. I really woudn't classify Vaughn in the Welk mode tho!
I always liked Vaughn Monroe. I own quite a few of his recordings. There will never be another voice like it again. Thank you for posting this.

Hey- thanks for the bio on this singer/actor.
His voice is so distinctive, his abilities shine. It makes you feel right just to hear him and his style. No doubt, he was good looking, too.
