  • i wasnt trained for ot so someone had to be an ot teacher or an ot assistant

  • Anyone looking to get into this profession do yourself a favor and find another career. High Medicare fraud rates, high productivity requirements, no wonder this field has a high turnover rate, the list goes on. I know I did it for 10 years until I got wise and found something else to do. OT is not as glamorous as one might think. You are nothing but a glorified CNA.

  • @cotaman7 couldn't have said it better myself!

  • fuck that.. no offense but its like u guys do all the things nurses hate to do.

  • Pamela is the student? How old she? (((((

  • Wow there are some absurdly negative people on here & what's funny is they are leaving the exact same comments on every OTA video. If you are considering this career please look elsewhere for advice. Just because it wasn't a good fit for some people doesn't mean it won't be for you. The people who are unhappy probably went into it for the wrong reasons. If your heart isn't in it then yes you'll be unhappy. For every person who hates this field there are a handful of people who love it. GO OT!!!!

  • @knightdancer83 dont waste your time even caring about what the ignorant have to say. its clearly a field where only unique warm hearted people belong not just anybody looking for work. im going to become an OTA soon and im damn proud of it. it takes a lot of emotional/drive/mental energy to help the impaired and the most rewarding career i can think of...

  • what's the difference between PTA and OTA?

  • the schooling is a bunch of bullshit..colleges make u take prerequisite classes that have nothing to do with occupational therapy.its really a simple job.its all common sense..simple exerices..its so exaggerated

  • Will Obama's Health Care Bill affect the pay of an Occupational Therapy Assistant?

  • otrl93... you are the loser for draging little old ladies out of their dying beds and giving them false hopes of going home which anyone who has worked in a SNF knows that is never going to happen. These videos are nothing more than a marketing gimmic and does not tell the real truth about what goes on behind the daily life of an OT.

  • Geez!! I was considering a career in Respiratory Therapy and folks were downing it. So I was considering OTA, and folks are downing it too. Look, I'm 40 years old, been in the blue collar field for 20 years and was looking for a career change to something in Allied Health. Is there a field that most people do enjoy being in?? Info please?? Don't need any a-hole comments. Let's keep this civil.

  • @chemsaltydog - My cousin had gone to school for OTA and while the field is rewarding, she'd said that the job may be mentally as well as physically draining. Most OT jobs are in nursing homes/long-term care facilities, too.

  • cotaman7 & vk452937 ARE PLAIN LOSERS!

I have seen your screen names in almost every OT posting<< you are so ignorant and cluless!!! get a life.

GO OT,, and yes,, we make lots of money,,lol

  • many losers on this page!!!

whoever degrades OT is just based on their complete ignorance,, do you have a GED?? LOL

  • Thats OK folks, the new healthcare reform will be passes by Christmas Eve as all Congress has to do is sign it into law. Then lets see who has a job after that.

  • You all clearly do not know what OT is all about. OT does so much more than what you all think. I would like to think that if one of you suffered a stroke, which will impair your thinking and processing, who will help you regain your cognition? NOT CNA's, RN's, PT's or any other medical profession. I can go on and on, but there is not enough space. Please research the profession before you degrade it!

  • its a redundant to other health professions. take occupational therapy out of the picture...and it will make no difference

  • @vk452937 actually, it's a needed skill set as nurses and cna's don't have time to HELP you with Adl's. The OT's are specifically re-training you in skill sets you may have lost to strokes, etc. They use everyday things we take for granted as THERAPY. When your sick, trying to put a shoe on, or buttoning something up is very difficult. especiall after surgery, or debilitating disease.

  • true i agree with cotaman....stay away...find a person who always speaks the complete truth. You will know from him. Otherwise you will regret later.

  • you really need to be patient for this job

  • @DullahThaDon You really need to be patient for any allied health care job. I've worked in nursing, and I can tell you first hand that it is physically, mentally, and emotionally draining.
