  • Guys Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle Quarter Horses are bred for this. the have natural headsets and slow gaits. training only gets them used to having people on them. i know cuz i ride wp and hus QHs

  • I think this is fantastic.

  • WP is not unnatural some horses are bred for it like my Quarter Paint Pony she was bred to do WP and you can tell be the way she naturally holds her head and by the way she naturaly trots so dont flip shit like WP is unnatural bc its not some horses are bred for it

  • wut stuff do u need to keep the mane and tail in good shape like ur horses wut do u need

  • oh i think their pretty when they do that. and your horse looks greatt.

    thanks for the information.

  • gorgeous. the only thing i wonder is how do people get their horses heads to stay down like like? it must have been hard.

  • @jumperxxo These horses are bred to have a topline like this.

It's natural for them. We teach them to drive from behind, holding their backs up or rounded using a level topline.

  • @jumperxxo Really you can get almost any horse to do this, no lie. I worked for a guy who rode/trained/owned congress winners in WP. He trained a TB who moved like this, and kept its head down, because it had been taught. It's all cue and repetition, doesn't necessarily have to be bred for it, it just helps. Anyone who knows what hey are doing can make a zebra move like this if they took the time.

  • Western Pleasure is SO NOT unatural!!! My horse was BRED to do this!!! and besides, if the horse is happy with his/her job (which mine is VERY happy with she gets mad at me and pouts in her stall when I dont ride her alot) why does it matter?

  • well trained, beautiful horse !

  • wow that sure is a good horse i love him!! u should give him to me!! :)

  • wunderbares pferd

  • Please search good n sonny gunner. For sale, out of zippos mr good bar.

  • Honestly, when you even get near a horse, you're doing something "unnatural" - as in "it doesn't happen in the wild."

"Because, you know, flexing a horse's head and dramatically extending the trot is /so/ natural. Or how about that stadium jumping? It's /just like/ the wild where horses jump four foot fences with a person in tight pants on top."

That's about as much sense as this "western pleasure is unnatural" crap made to me.

Horseback riding, in fact, is "unnatural" in this sense.

  • @LlamaHerderxx

When you do anything in life your doing something "unnatural" Do you drive a car? Do you own a dog? Do you cut your grass? Do you pole bend? Hate to break the news to you, not much happens like it did in the wild............

  • @flashie07 That was my point. I was trying to defend western pleasure. -_-

Honestly, I like the horse. I was trying to say all horseback riding is "unnatural" in the sense these people put it. I ride western pleasure. Don't go bitching at me when I was trying to defend your video.

Dear Jesus, I'm not commenting on any videos from now on.

  • @LlamaHerderxx

Maybe it would help to state your opinion first, them make your comment. Most people don't go back and read all the posts, so they don't know how to take your point of view.

Sorry I took your post the way I did. :)

    Glad you like WP!

  • @LlamaHerderxx Ok.. so i do hunter with my mustang. she is wild. she was gotten for me when she was 15. usually those horses arent trainable but i managed to train her and she is perfect now. so just shut up about how thats unnatural, because if wild horses can do, then its not completly "unnatural"

  • @appaloosasrule you training a horse is unnatural. And you're horse is not 'wild' if it's been trained, moron. If you want to live in a fantasy world where your mustang is like flicka and chose to stop being wild because it loves you, then it's time to wake up before you get hurt.

  • awsome, thast amazing, having a horse like that takes a lot of hours in the saddle, I know I had one. Great job!

  • i love how he doesnt trope, his head isnt behind the bridle, or infront of it, he rolls up nicely, he obiviously likes his job, more then likely he wants to make his rider happy, he is slow legged, has a crisp stop, offers no resistance, and looks like much fun to ride! if your horse can't do all of these things, then really he is not a true pleasure horse.

  • he uses his head alot but he looks greattt=]

  • Comment removed

  • Would have loved to see a flying lead change and no neck rope.

Awesome. Watched the whole thing. I really liked it.

  • I love how people say it's not natural to do western pleasure, but look. How come we can take off our bridles and ride them, and they still go slow, their heads are still down? If it wasn't natural, our horses wouldn't feel comfortable doing it and they wouldn't be so damn good while we are riding them.

  • I completely agree =]

  • SO TRUE!

  • not a fan of western pleasure myself, but i half agree with you. I really don't think western pleasure is 'natural' because what horse moves like that in the 'wild' or on its own? a horse w/o a rider wold definitely move out more than that. that being said, it doesn't need to be 'natural' for a horse to love doing it and the horses that love collecting up for wp are the ones that are best at it. i've seen too many shady trainers try to make wp horses out of ones who are simply not meant for it.

  • yes iroxalldatime. :) i have also seen trainers who have horses that have reining bloodlines and just beat and yank and all that nonsense. and i also completely agree that it doesn't need to be natural for a horse to love it. :) you have made your point clear, good job :D

  • well i see what your saying how its not natural but yet. what type of riding is natural? dressage isn't the horses are doing really weird/cool things, reining isnt i dont see horses doing sliding stopss and spin fast. jumping isnt horses dont jump 5ft fences in the wild. ...so you say how unnatural it is but everything is unatural, its just a way western pleasure like it. slow.

  • actually I may not be a jumper but I'm pretty sure horses jump over tall things in the wild. The rollback is something very natural for a horse and alot of horses do naturally do slidiing stops. I've seen yearlings doing sliding stops and maybe one spin. Of course, the spin is exaggerated but still it's natural. WP has just gotten so fake now though. The horses used to move out and look beautiful but now it's more like a "whose horse looks like it can limp most" sport.

  • yeah and i like it! so get over it! i think western pleasure horses are beautiful! so really if you dont like it dont watch it!

  • i agree:)

  • wow! Idk if I'd ride my guy with no bridle, kudos to you! And I really like the song you chose to go with it... what's it called?

  • i agree with u 100% lol i was at my trainers barn riding one time and these barrel racers came in it was these 2 girls and they were talkin shit about how i didnt know how to ride so i stopped my horse and took the bridel of and and the look on there face was histarical lol : )

  • Dont you love being able to just get on and ride! My horse goes 100% bridless!! Its a blast when people give you crap about your horse or how its trained, because then u just take off the bridle and those people just change there minds 100%!! Gotta love those few good western pleasure horses!!! Every one should have a chance to ride one! There nothing but a 'pleasure' to ride!

  • hahah isnt it fun when u can just take the bridel of lol when im riding in our outdoor arena people will drive and just stair at us cause we dont have a bridel in lol when u know u have a good western pleasure horse when it can do that and its all legs lol those are a pleasure to ride

  • respect! This is a really good Western Pleasure horse!:)

  • I actually think this is awesome and u ride her goodi have a three year old and im trying to get her brideless cuz she's western pleasure

  • but it's still pretty impressive i will say that

  • she isn't using a bridal but she's still using a leather rope thingy. Have you seen that one video with the lady with no bridal or saddle nothing!

  • Are you referring to Stacy Westfall when she does reining with her black quarter horse Roxy? It's very cool to watch :)

  • What is the name of the device used to steer the horse? I'm trying to find one online to buy, but am unsure of the name.

  • Your legs.

    A leather rein.

  • Do you mean a neck rope?

  • This is a beautiful horse, and I wish I saw this video when this horse was still available. I'd be hauling a trailer from Canada to get it tomorrow. What's the breeding on this horse?

  • I just watched the video to make sure and I'm right, you are too all over that mare to ride her "at liberty" at the level that this horse is. Even if it's true she rides bridless, where do you get off talking about this horse when your own looks like crap? I challenge you to post a video of you riding her in 3 months without a bridle and we'll see who's horsemanship is really on target. I'd make sure you add a spin, back up,canter to stop and flying lead change so we can compare.

  • artificial? WHAT?! this is a fake horse?!

your an idiot... before you go around running your mouth you should learn a little bit about the western pleasure horse

  • $20,000 chump change considering the outstanding ones sell for $85,000 and up and people are still paying the price for the quality.

  • Good job, your horse looks awesome! One day I'd like to be able to ride bridless, you two look so in touch with one another. Thanks for posting the video!

  • maybe because you ride saddlebreds or something? you probably know nothing about pleasure. this horse is probably one of the best moving pleasure horses ive seen in a while.

  • Roxysluvr - You're not winning WP in AQHA with that video. I like how you said a good WP horse doesn't need a bridle, yet you are all over your horses mouth. This is a good horse, you're jealous that your horse doesn't have tis ability, as many of us are.

And you don't even look old enough to be training anything.

  • That mare has been laid of for a year almost. That was her first time being ridden. And trust me. I'm not jealous of that horse. lol Also I'm not just a spoiled little girl with a ton of her horses. Everything you see my two mares doing I trained them for. I train for a job to. And I'm way older then I look.

  • Alright you guys, I responded with a video of my little western pleasure mare. See, I ride pleasure. I also waited so long because I had to work the horse to a point where she could keep a steady pace, and have a saddle. This is one of her first days being ridden fully tacked up in a LONG time.

  • Wow some people are stupid! I have a 3 year old out of "time to zip it up"! If anyone know anything about WP then they know that there bred for this! This is whats natural to them! They enjoy there job very much! And this horse is very nice and seems to enjoy his job! Great work! Maybe ill see you in the show pen!

  • I think it's great ur going w/o a bridle. I don't much like wp because it seems unnatural. But I do western myself using the dressage methods. I don't use a bridle sometimes either but i ride english when I do it and I'm bareback w/o reins around the neck. =) Pretty horse and I love his color.

  • roxysluvr---no, you calm down. HELLLO! This is the 21st century, and these are not war horses. They are going this pace for a reason---they're a pleasure to ride. Now if you're going to continue to groan and whine about these gymkhana horses--mind your own business and watch gymkhana horses. This horse is just the way it should be. Don't put people down, they put alot of time and effort into this.---to the former owner--NICE HORSE! =]

  • I show and train western pleasure horses. You obviously know near nothing about wp. I have no problem with the pace, I ride, show, and win, on the backs of both gymkhana, and wp horses for years. I'm saying that riding a western pleasure horse bridle less is how EVERY wp horse should be ridden, because they are trained to NOT use a bridle! Can you people not understand this?

  • hahahahahahaha i watched your "western pleasure" horse video

i was giggling for like 30 minutes :)

  • My wp mare? Again. That mare was laid off for almost a year. When she's in shape you should look at her. Then you can ride her with nothing on her face.

  • riding with nothing in the mouth isn't that special, how about you ride a nice moving mare with nothing in her mouth :) we also can tell you don't have tons of horses, i never said you did. And if you trained your two horses and it is your job you should get a new job :) I wouldn't let you come near my gelding with a ten foot pole. hahaha seriously stop being a know it all because your clearly not, you can't even fake it good.

  • You know I'll be the big person and step out. Obviously you can't open up your mind. And for some reason you think you tube is a place for people to bluff and talk bad about everyone. Have a nice day.

  • ok be the bigger person :) I open my mind up on a daily basis you're just wrong :) have a wonderful day sweetheart

  • Great horse, great ride.

Roxysluvr- this horse is exactly that- WELL TRAINED. not a zombie at all. If she wanted to have run running at breakneck speeds she would have had him trained for that. I have seen videos of gymkhana horses beeing ridden bridless.

  • People calm down! Can no one take a little comment? As I just said western pleasure horses are SUPPOSED to be ridden with all verbal, and leg cue. You should ride every horse without HAVING to use the bridle. So it's no wonder that a well trained western pleasure horse can be ridden with out a bridle. I can get on my gymkhana horse with no bridle, have her at a full gallop, and be able to run a smooth pattern. It's just that western pleasure horses take a lot less courage to ride brideless.

  • This is not about courage. Its about BALANCE, STRENGTH, LIFT, DRIVE and the natural GENTICS of SLOW LEGS AND BALANCED CONFORMATION and then throw in a little WILL and WANT TO. Can you post your bridleless gymkhana horse? I would love to see it. :) I would also enjoy seeing some of your trained WP horses.

  • i completely agree 100 %

  • I'll get a video of my wp horse up some time. She's out of shape from the surgery she had recently, but I'll get some video of me riding her up, though it will have to be bare back since the surgery was in the cinch area. (Don't worry, she is rideable). Also my champion gymkhana horse was recently sold, he was getting older and I was concerned for his joints, so my new gymkhana horse is just a little filly, and I haven't the courage to get on my filly with out a bridle yet.

  • thats mean. you shouldnt say that. you dont know the history of that horse. not all pleasure horses had $50,000 trainers like you think

  • I ride, show and train western pleasure horses, I know more then you guys are thinking

  • when you train them though, they are not zombies, they are normal horses learning something. trust me, i have trained a few western pleasure horses, they are in no way zombies. sure they are supposed to be dull, but they still have a personality.

  • You guys over react so much. I never said being a zombie wasnt bad for a western pleasure horse. The whole idea of western pleasure is to ride with little, to no bit though. So doesn't it only make sence that ALL good western pleasure horses should be able to ridden brideless?

  • you try to train one, then you can say that.

  • I have trained one. More then one in fact.

  • How old is this horse and do you have a video with a bridle

  • this is awsome!

who was this horses trainer?! id love to put my horse with the trainer.

  • gorgeous hes awsome

  • How much are you asking? Where are you located? Would he work for a Nov. Am.

  • Yes, he would be excellent for a novice am. He is priced at 17,500. Im in Alabama

  • Where in Alabama are you located? He is a gelding correct? How tall is he? Would you consider a partial trade as payment? I have a beautiful black "Winter's Breeze" filly with my trainer now that is a coming 3 y.o. Just curious.

  • 1 hour south of Birmingham. He's is a gelding

He's 15 hands. No trade, he's owned by someone else getting out.

  • thank you for writing back. Wish he was taller, he would be perfect. The "no trade" would have worked.

  • Guess you are busy, busy but I would love to hear back from you in response to my last email. Thanks

  • wow he is amazing!!

  • omg!!! i wish i could buy him!!! he is so gorgeous and a beautiful mover!!!!!!! hes just so automatic!!

  • omg i want him!

  • there is 2 horses trained the same way at my barn and 1 is mine

  • nice to see a real pleasure horse on here.

  • How Much are you asking???

    Where are you located?
