@kuhen25 I've never been a really big fan, but,I give Jean Claude his props. He should have been better but that's more the fault of the writers and producers than Van Damme himself.Van Damme also created MJ White,Gary Daniels,Scott Adkins ect.by showing you could be big and flexible and fast.Everybody headed for the gym.And those of us who practice the arts are all better for it.
Well there's no point in driving and talking on the phone at the same time either but idiots do it all day everyday. It's JCFVDD!!!
That's Jean Claude Freakin Van Daaaaaaaamne...Damn it!!!
We talking 'bout Time Cop man, Chad & Alex, Faux Frank Dux, Gibson Riddonbacker Replicant, Universal Soldier, The hard Target with Nowhere to run cause he don't have to. He'll stop on some Johnny Cage getting crunk, split and throw a knife of pure awesomeness into your heart...in the good way!!!
the point was he was trying to show the other guys and the woman that he can throw his knives on target while doing the splits on to barrels like a ninja.
He was the first guy to bring good looks, muscles, and unbelievable flexibility to the big screen. He made everyone before him (except Bruce Lee) look pretty sad.
i enjoyed Black Eagle, despite the common hate for it.Van Damme popularized the splits in mainstream media and pop-culture.when someone does the splits,no matter who it may be,people always think of Van Damme.you could really see the potential and magic in Van Damme in this film, you REALLY knew Van Damme wasd going to be a star after this role,he just has that magic and still does.yes throwing knies in the splits is pointless, but i think the reason for it was to show Van Damme's flexibility.
@SpinDoctor91 Yeah your right about the splits he popularized it the splits and is the only man in movie history to do 180 degree full split on film. Its strange because his teacher Claude gotez said it was really uncommon back in the days the splits Claude said when he was training VD he wanted him to be flexible so he stretched him everday in all postions that was not how people train back then in regarding flexibilty and VD it became his trademark what he is known for now every one does it
I totally agree! and i saw where Claude said that too. On Screen and the Martial Arts world hadn't seen anything like Van Damme, the speed, the flexibility, it was all new. Then after Van Damme the wannabes came but there is only one Van Damme. Van Damme is a legend and is one of a kind. No one had seen 180 or 360 kicks like that before. the "Helicopter Kick" became his trademark. Van Damme's flexibility was so amazing, it still is. Thanks for agreeing!
@SoUnknown13 I think the point would be to be able to relax, concentrate and aim while doing the splits. It's not that easy to sit like that "relaxed" even when you very flexible. :)
@SoUnknown13 lets see... a good stretchig excersise and he is training the knife throwing. he can use the splits any time if he want. probably when he is fighting or whatever. here is your answer. now gimme the thumbs up :))
I agree this movie was awful, also how pointless is to throw knives while doing the splits... What's the point, man? Anyway I like Van Damme and have almost all his movies.
@masterdragunov lol I was like 6 or 7 when I saw kickboxer 2 when it came out and I loved it. Growing up I always remembered that movie & I thought it was awesome. But then I watched it again last year....it sucked!!!!!! I shouldnt have watched it the second time, ruined my good memory lol Alot of movies I loved as a kid are now terrible.
