brother i know exactly what you are talking about, i am from Whitesburg KY, like 5 mins away from pine mountain, and in my holler i think we are the only family that isn't on drugs or drawing a check lol.
Every summer my family goes to our great grandmother's property in Owsley County, specifically near Bear Branch hollow and I believe it's the poorest county in the U.S. and I cannot blame them for growing marijuana however I do not believe that it is justified to do so.
I THINK THESE REAL LIFE VIDEOS ARE SOME OF YOUR BEST WORK AND PINHEAD IS THE KINDA GUY YOU ARE GLAD TO LAUGH AT AS LONG AS YOU DONT LIVE CLOSE TO. SORRY ABOUT CAPS
I have been a sub of yours for a while but never viewed the real life videos untill the budget armory channel entered your contest. amazing stories. you should write a book.
Dude, i cant believe i stumbled up on this. Im from Pike county KY...everything you talk about is things i see everyday. And people wouldnt believe all of this unless they are from eastern ky.
@MadBadVoodo If you havent seen it first hand, you wouldnt believe it! Im in my last year of college and i work a grocery store and i see all of this stuff come time for the first of the month! People around these parts love their food stamps. 3 people dont want you to mess with in Eastern Ky- food stamps, cigarettes, and their dope (pills, pot, etc.)
this is a great series. I am hooked and still have about 12 vids to watch. thanks for sharing....ever think about writing a book about this craziness?
Man this is good, I have watched a few of the much older Real Life videos but obviously understood none of it. It's 1.30am here and I'm probably going to up date very very late watching these!
My buddy owned 360 acres in South East Kentucky, just outside of Saylersville. One thing we did is respect the locals. You don't own land in that area of the country, you either are allowed to use the land but if they don't like you- well they'll burn your house down or you might just disappear. We hunted down there, traded stuff with the locals and all of them were very cool. We even had some guy living in trailer on the property- using the electric, he was there first- so there he stayed.
Wow! I used to live in Floyd County KY. The community is more viable (so to speak) than Detroit, MI. Again the coal mines are nearly all gone or played out to a LARGE degree yet the people refuse to leave. They stay there and get on government assistance into perpetuity.
We lived there for only 6 months & got out of there. Not because we wanted to leave family but because my father needed to seek legitimate work.
We didn't prefer Detroit but my Dad is honorable & doesn't like handouts.
Hi there, I was just turned onto you page by USNERDOC today and I was hooked.
I Just watched the whole Real Life series up to date in one sitting. Very entertaining.
If it doesn't jeopardize you in any way, I'd be fascinated to learn about the process that it takes to find land that has harvestable resources. I'll be subscribing as well as clicking on at least one ad per video. Congrats on making YT partner. Thanks for all the time and work you put into your vids. Best of luck.
how much did you pay for the land? and then how much did you get for the timber all said and done including the 20K pinhead lost for you? and how much you think you will make on the coal?
well looks like i have found the first vid u told me to watch i understand what u mean about the holler my whole famaily is from a holler but i live in the town area and in our holler's 4 out of 5 houses sell drugs or trailers mostly im goin to vid 2 right now good stuff mbv
Marijuana has taken over from moonshining because of the money to be made! Better that than coal mining that destroys the land for all time and generations to come.
It bothers me that people want to come into southeast Kentucky and buy up the land just to strip it of its natural resources (timber, coal, gas, and oil). Why is it that everyone wants to make their own profit from the land we call home? We live in a beautiful part of the United States. Instead of portraying the people here as being lazy and living off of the system, why not create jobs for those people to work at ?
My loggers were from Knox County KY and the Pipe line workers came from Bell County KY Most of the Coal miners are from Harlan, Bell and Knox! So as you can see I have put a lot of money into a lot of peoples pockets from South East Kentucky. I also pay out a lot of money in tax that supports the local community (ie) Schools, Roads. Hospitals ect
Hell, yeah, buddy! In some parts of Appalachia, police only make minimum wage. No wonder there are so many unchecked meth labs out there in the hollows.
Deputy Dawg was both afraid and paid off, IMHO. Better the carrot than the stick. On the other hand, sounds like ol' Frito might be the deserving recipient of a nocturnal housewarming, seeing as that's the tradition in those parts. =^[.]^=
Awaiting part 2!! 5/5 My wife's family is from down there. It's scary. I Won't go with her or let her take the kids when she goes down there. Some of her cousins are drug runners.
Can't wait to hear more, that was the fastest 9 and a half minute video I've seen. I live in Lonesome hollow but it's a little more civilized with nice log homes and horses outside of Louisvile, do you mind if I ask the name of the hollow? Some have interesting names.
it's mad, the whole scope of this is just beyond me. yo8ur talking hundreds of acres of land, extracting coal, timber etc. I come from England lol, we don't have anything like that here man.
