@swarm69 it sounds absolutely dreadful, dude. Put up some structures in your drums and stop using the same LFO frequency throughout the WHOLE GOD DAMN SONG.
@Xetrev13 Get renoise. Seriously. It's free, it's what Venetian Snares uses, it's breakcore magic. It's pretty much the only program you'll need for yonks. And it's piss easy to use. I find it strange that people think they need to buy their way into electronic music, think they need to spend £400 on some fucking box just so they can make some beats.
@hoiszhdfoifh22 i understand where you're coming from, but I think different people like different things. I am more of a hardware guy, as I like to make the songs hands on. However, I can completely understand the advantages of software, and I have began to stick a bit of that in mine now.
Okay, this is amazing. I wanna try this but I have no idea how to get started. I tried to make some breakcore before but it wasn't that good. 1:06, what are you doing there ? putting an fx on the drums/bass ? I'd like to have some information, I'm not very expirianced with the emx because I just bought it. thanks in advance. :D (sorry for my crappy english ;])
@ItsSoulFlys grain shifter in the effects section i have it set to all the drums but not the bass part the other effects i us alot are short delay and ring mod ..ifn you chain them together it can get very nice and messy :D but thats all your fx used up for the entire track then :(
@ItsSoulFlys its a grain shifter effect on all the drum parts
i dont know what to tell you realy have a few snares and different pitches a couple of bass drums and then its all down to programing in the patterns im afraid man
but if you realy want to make breakcore the emx is not what you want its a fun piece of kit but if breakcore is your thing get renoise on your computer
@DjembeNmbabway errm sorta ...its not hard its just messing about but its not realy a fine production tool or at least im not that good with it yet :)
yeea man everything i used no external samples or sound sources although its not easy to use at first your realy gonna have to put allot of time inbto the programing .. but its worth because it just sounds siiick :P
Can i just ask how you programmed those drums? I would love to make some breakcore stuff but everytime i sit down to program the beats it just (excuse the pun) beats me.
3 at diferent pitches ( with one as standered pitch)
and one with roll turned on
aside from that if you work around the basics of kicks on 1 and 11 and snare on 5 and 13 and then just add fils and veriation and you should be fiiiine
Im using software at the mo. (Reason 4 and a cme uf6). Have an emx on order. (can't wait!!) Thanks for the quick reply!!I hope you don't mind me hitting you up for a few tips once it arrives.I'll try giving that a go on the redrum and let ya know how i get on .
i also produce using softwear but i just tried the emx as an experiment its prety limited and the retrig effect is not perfect put it works prety well
This is great ! you say the emx is limited? do you listen to Aphex Twin + Squarepusher bcuz i wanna know how versatile is this machine for making jungle breakdowns like yours? would this work well for making crazy drum n bass or do u prefer software? thanks for a reply- G
personaly softweare but this is infinatly tweakable and loads of fun .. its just that softwear is infinatly expandable in every direction until you crash your cpu .. lol
but i love my emx its just theres only so far you can push it ..
if you've never used a tracker before they do take a little getting used to. but the best way is to just keep playing around with it until you get used to it. you'll need to slice the break up into small samples so you can rearrange it do snare rolls and other effects etc.
my advice is to play around with high tempos like 200+ so you can get some really hectic beats. good luck!
Thanks a lot, it looks interesting! I was working with FruityLoops and Ableton so far, I have never heard about Renois before - I am playing with the demo right now, it seems complicated, but I will keep fighting :D
it can be but the help page on the renoise web sight will set you stright its a prety mental little piece of softwear and once you astart memorising the efct codes you can right super tehcnical brakes realy quickly :)
yeah as swarm69 says, its a very versatile piece of software but its takes time to work your way around but when you start to memorise things thats when you can get really creative.
just another quick question, as i am going to go to school in england soon and may not be able to bring the emx 1 with me, therefore i may not be able to use it a lot. do you still think it is worth it for me to buy this?
This 1s real good, N1 !

If you like to have physical stuff to tweak, get some MIDI gear, like an MPC or something.

one question, what sunth did you use for your "wubs"
mikejeffery123 2 years ago
"Wubs" are made by syncing a sine wave LFO to the volume parameter and setting it to oscillate at whatever subdivision you want.
JazzDanceForChildren 2 years ago
lol i know how to make wubs and i know what they are. i have thi smachine. i just wanted to know what synth he used.

are you using an emx or softwear?
if your using an emx
the most inportent thing is the snare
you want about 4
3 at diferent pitches ( with one as standered pitch)
and one with roll turned on
aside from that if you work around the basics of kicks on 1 and 11 and snare on 5 and 13 and then just add fils and veriation and you should be fiiiine

Honestly I had never thought of making breakcore with anything but software sequencers. Interesting approach.
QuantumAnomaly 3 years ago
i also produce using softwear but i just tried the emx as an experiment its prety limited and the retrig effect is not perfect put it works prety well

So what software would you recommend for creating breakcore stuff?
Moozig 2 years ago
renoise, its a tracker
if you've never used a tracker before they do take a little getting used to. but the best way is to just keep playing around with it until you get used to it. you'll need to slice the break up into small samples so you can rearrange it do snare rolls and other effects etc.

it can be but the help page on the renoise web sight will set you stright its a prety mental little piece of softwear and once you astart memorising the efct codes you can right super tehcnical brakes realy quickly :)

yeah as swarm69 says, its a very versatile piece of software but its takes time to work your way around but when you start to memorise things thats when you can get really creative.

amazing video. thanks for sharing it.
just got a question, is the emx 1 difficult to use? as im thinking of buying one.
thanks.
snowmanandy 3 years ago
no not relay the drums are relay easy to program and the fx are great too
its easy to get the right sounds for the synth parts
but inputing them takes a while and its quite boring and repetitive but you can always just play them in
i love my korg i recommend it :)
swarm69 3 years ago
cool, thanks for the reply.
just another quick question, as i am going to go to school in england soon and may not be able to bring the emx 1 with me, therefore i may not be able to use it a lot. do you still think it is worth it for me to buy this?
snowmanandy 3 years ago
errmm.. well my advice is if your going to be in england any serious length of time buy one over here it costs pretty much the same amount so yea
were you going to school btw ??
