I liked the way you used repeated images for the 'What business of mine is it..' lines. The images regarding verse three seemed to suggest that the workplace had been shut down but surely the point is that SHE has lost her job (been given the sack). I thought using a roast chicken instead of a yam was an interesting idea. It helps the western reader make a connection. Well done. I have tied a similar project with a couple of poems from the litrature section of the AQA anthology.
Thank you for sharing this very powerful piece of reality..."not my bueiness?"...yes it is everyody's business, because this is not happening in some remote part of the world where it had no effect on the rest of mankind, it is happening in our own backyard becuase "it's a small world after all" raising awareness is important and it is good that we have the internet available to raise the eyelids of the blind.
bafr1 shared this video with me. i'm grateful to have been shown this. great work, very powerful and moving. do let us not choose to remain indifferent until the armed opressors come to our doorstep. this is happening every place where there is armed conflict, people taking power through violent means
This sounds like that famous poem from Nazi Germany which we all should know. It is a mistake to see Africa as just over there. All of this is interconnected, especially today with multinational corporations and the internet. All interconnected. We are part of this too. Blessings +++ The Saint +++
As i surround myself with love and warmth and light, I occasionaly glance at the darkness of the outside world and realise that some of that blackness is in my soul.

VERY powerful and moving video indeed! Gives pause to one's social conscience. 5 stars and a new favourite.

I particularly liked the way you signified recurring ideas in the poem. A good job.

This is a poem by an African Niyi Osundare. Unfortunately, this sort of thing is happening all over the world, especially in parts of Africa.
The ethnic cleansing in Uganda in the 1970s, Rwanda in the 1990s and even in Kenya today is a sad reminder of how Western powers damaged Africa.

Where is this happening?
Good that you put it out there, to raise awareness. I appreciate the message.
