I had such a crush on Mitzi when I was a child & just learning to dance. One day I got an autographed photo of hers with very encouraging words for me. Seems my uncle knew how I felt about her ... (Still do!)
All respect to Mitzi Gaynor fans, and yes, she knows what she's doing with a mic (unlike those 'artists' who need their voices programmed through a computer to sound barely tolerable). However, I call attention to the original Four Fellows group, from Brooklyn New York. The group I refer to was on the forefront of what came to be known as "doo-wop". These men backing up Mitzi have no relation to them. Search YouTube for their name, and find the song "Soldier Boy", you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Am so glad to notice that you are still (literally) kicking (and using that same Internet which will save us all). I have always enjoyed your projection of all-girl, and as I barely recall from one of your bio-interviews, would have applauded not demeaned your early appearance in the studio commisary. Not only are you always looking good, but I really love your attitude. All the luck in the world in your forthcoming program.
Yes. I see what you mean. Mitzi is special for me too. Another comment suggests that "Thanks a Lot But no Thanks" by Dolores Gray is worth seeing. I agree. She is so awesome! Check it out if you have not already done so.
How delightful it was to find these videos. I still have an old autographed photo card she sent to me back in the 50's. (That was when yo could just write the name of your favorite movie star and put hollywood california on it and you got an autograph picture. I have always treasured it. What young girl didnt want to be just like her. I'll be checking back here often.
Mitzi is wonderful. "Anything Goes" and the "The I Don't Care girl" are movies that feature great performances by her. Mitzi's number in "The Frank Sinatra Timex Show" is also noteable. If you like Mitzi you may enjoy Cyd Charisse in "Singing In The Rain" and "The Band Wagon". Dolores Gray performing "Thanks A Lot But No Thanks" from the movie "It's Always Fair Weather" is extraordinarily wicked.
Great performance by Mitzi. Check out "Anything Goes" or numbers from the movie "The I Don't Care Girl" and "Frank Sinatra's Timex Show" from TV. Notable routines by Cyd Charisse and Dolores Gray can be viewed on YouTube.
this woman has such command of presence on stage with such such amzing sex appeal...shame I was WAYYY to young when she was in her prime. Thanx for sharing, :) J.
Wow! I watched this video with nothing less than the real-life fervor of a Tex Avery cartoon wolf character doing wild somersaults of glee in response to sexy cartoon nightclub chanteuse "Red." Please join me in supporting (and demanding!) the release of a DVD set of Mitzi Gaynor's TV specials!

Mitzi is terrific as always, she was the highest paid entertainer in Las Vegas, and you can see why
