  • Esuper1, you really are an idiot right? Your local village missing you? I have heard of black but not so much brown "bros". I am guessing you mean anyone that isn't white? What is your point? If you, or ANYONE you know thinks they can do this better, no matter what race, go show them. I am assuming that this is an open and so any race can join!!! I, as a non black or brown person, will happily cheer you on. The only condition is - THAT YOU ARE GOOD. Now go get a life.

  • want more!!!

  • all buncha white trash... black bros or brown bros would simply make then feel inferior... sorry to say

  • @Esuper1 To be honest with you, most of the dancers in the video would love that. We all agree that we wish more African Americans would do this dance, because they are the ones who made it so amazing (looks up the video clip from Hellzapoppin', a 1941 movie, considered the greatest swing dance routine ever captured on film). Also, the first guy dancing in this video is Asian.

  • @Esuper1 Additionally, if you know anyone of color who would like to become an amazing swing dancer, there is a scholarship provided by the Frankie Manning Foundation (he was the guy that created aerials and choreographed Hellzapoppin) that provides the receipiant with funds to attend the worlds greatest/largest swing dance camp in Sweden.

  • @Esuper1

Yeah, because "grinding" and "crunk" and "doin the solja boy" make swing look inferior. hahahahaha

  • @Esuper1 My theatre director who is Hispanic is an awesome swing dancer.

  • We used to do this in CT--Ritz Ballroom,Bridgeport,Ct lol BIg Band ERA!!

  • If someone had shown me this video when I was six, I would have tried my hardest not to become a fatass.

  • so is what they're doing here more of improv or is it an actual routine?

  • @TheDude886 It's a little of both. Obviously, they have to extensively practice their air steps before hand, but they also put together "combos" (i.e. this move goes into this move, followed by this move) and practice them in this order, but this is mainly air steps. Then when they compete, they try and get those pieces to fit with the music they are dancing to.

  • wie die abgehen

  • PAPA AMERICANO!!!

  • The Xgames of lindyhop

  • wow and more wow, great dancers

  • hey! how about some gatorade or red bull? (:

  • Großartig! Very, Very, great!

    Greetings from the German Mountains

  • he fucken launched that girl!

  • Wow!it's like something you would see in a movie .its unbelievably amazing

  • max is so effin hot! =P

  • where do all the swedes come from?

  • love it

  • i would seriously like to learn how to dance like this.

  • @watchfull3y3 Just have to find your local Lindy Hop instructor.

  • @watchfull3y3 You can all you do is put a swing style song on and just dance, back then they didn't go to no Lindy Hop class or take any class of that nature. Just dance, and do the moves that you think are right.

  • @SWAT487 Actually, they did learn from each other, try to one up each other, and learn other dances like tap, Charleston, black bottom, etc. They also had rhythm, which most people don't have now-a-days.

  • @SWAT487 Dean Collin's brought Lindy Hop to the West Coast in the late 1930s, and taught it to a lot of people.

  • @SWAT487 I like that !!

  • @SWAT487 but back then, this is what you heard everyday on the radio, this is what was playing at the nearest club, this is what was the norm, now we have to adapt, cause now this is not the normal tempos, this is not how we normally move when a song comes on the radio, and i dont even believe we are as fit as kids were back then LOL

  • This is gold!

  • WANNA FLY THAT HIGH!

  • I wish my school would teach me this

  • @WeGotABlackHawkDown1

You won't find this taught at any school. You have to search out your local Lindy Hop scene.

  • @lindyhop411 Ive spoken to a lot of people from that era, and they say they dont remember people dancing that fast back then, so these dances may be more of an underground movement! they probably didnt, or even allowed to dance like this at schools or the town dance! lol These moves were probably done in back alleys, near Hostels, strip joints and such, they would have probably been consired "Obscene" in "decent" dance Venues! LOL

  • @Dreambro1 How many of them danced at the Savoy Ballroom in New York, or the Balboa Rendezvous in California? The people who did this dance were the best of the best. They were elite, and they were featured in several movies. Look up the dance clip from the movie "Hellzapopin" from 1941. That's what this dancing is emulating.

  • @lindyhop411 oh, ive seen that clip a thousand times, and you know what gets me, is, when you watch these clips, you rarely ,if ever, see an African American Participating, ;-( Im saddened by the fact that with such a rich heritage, and background, most of young African Americans are out dealing, making babies they cant take of, and harbouring bad attitudes! Like to see more African Americans into this type of thing!

  • @Dreambro1 That's one of the reasons the Frankie Manning Legacy Fund Project recently announced the "Lindy Hop Ambassador Scholarship Program" that would pick African Americans that who want to excel and Lindy Hop and pay part or all of their way to the Herrang Dance Camp in Sweden!

  • some of the women were literally flying! cracked me up. it's great though...

  • woooo!!!!amazing and fu n...i love it...tech me how to dance fast swind... hehehehe

  • I would LOOOOVE to this this .... but I'm too fat :( I'm going into cardiac arrest just watching this vid.

  • 0:52

  • This is so cool I want 2 learn how to fast swing dance

  • Amazing!

  • They are all AMAZING! But my fav pair is definitely Annie and Max I just love them, their dance is always perfect!

  • jep, they rock! :D

  • the pair with the girl with the black braces are absolutly amazing

  • Half the couples out there are Swedes -- what's the deal with that? is Sweden the current hot-bed for lindy hop?

  • Sweden has been among the leading Lindy countries for the last 25 years, so when the top dancers travels overseas to compete they usually do well.

  • I'm so happy that this amazing form of dancing hasn't died out. A lot of dancing styles come and go, but it's just great that this one if still around. I would love to be in the audience of one of these shows.

  • popeye the sailer man- let's play whit olive ::)

  • the original rave, baby... what a delight to watch!

  • very impressive!! i wish i can learn to swing dance it looks so fun

  • i have just started swing lessons - zoot swing in edinburgh, week 1 under belt & luv it!!!!!!! cant wait til week 2 x these videos are inspiring

  • Make sure you are learning Lindy Hop.

  • Nice.

  • it's important to realize that these are choreographed. ECS is simpler, but as a result, it's a friendlier social dance. I mean... Lindy hop can be social too,

    but Salsa and Tango ftw.

  • Well the aerials are choreographed, but not all of the phrase battles are 100% choreographed. You can tell the couples that choreograph everything and the other couples that feel the music but can still throw something are better.

Social lindy hop is not choreographed.

ECS to me doesn't really swing because it's a 6-count dance being done to 8/8 or 4/4 time music. Plus it was created by ballroom dancers, not real swing dancers.

  • yeah, lindy hop is harder to learn, but once you got it, it's much more freeing than east coast and leaves more room for you to do your own thing. I know because I've done both of them for over a year. The only thing these guys are choreographing are the aerials, which is basically them saying right before the dance (hey, why don't we try to do this one at some point), the rest of the time, most of them are feeling the music.

  • they both have their places, but lindy is the more difficult dance to learn. If you really dont think it can be led very well watch jack and jill comps, its all led, no choreography. Lindy is just as socially leadable if not more so that East coast.

  • I want to learn swing dancing so bad. I know a few people who have done it but they're just beginners and they never feel like teaching me anything. I want to learn!

  • couldnt agree more haha

  • They should all team up and WIN Americas best new dance crew.

  • It's so crazy at the end how they're still confident enough to do lifts with all those other people doing lifts right next to them @_@;; The couple who won really know how to play to the crowd, too lol

  • Are Lindy Hop and east coast Swing Similar??

  • East coast swing is a simpler version of lindy hop. Most people learn ECS before moving onto Lindy hop.

  • ok here is a question it looked like they were doing east coast swing. so were they triple steping or just a regular steps?

  • Actually they're doing Lindy Hop, and triple steps are only one variation in the footwork. Because of the speed, most of the dancers are doing different footwork.

  • Yup! ^^ I went there this year! <3 I live in Minneapolis. XD

  • very nice!

acctually I'm gonna start dance Lindy hop very soon. but i have never danced before in my life, so it's gonna be a bit interesting.

    got any tips to give?

  • Relax. Don't be too tense, and don't be nervous. No one wants to dance with a nervous wreck. Be confident.

  • remember your arm tension :) in Lindy someone could go flying without it :)

  • Dance as much as you possibly can! Social dance!

Take local classes, travel, and after a few months, try and take a private lesson or two.

  • This is awesome. Too bad the lighting is so bad. Is there a better version anywhere?

  • Congrats Annie & Max. Very innovative!
