You told me that you're not so good to explain but this video demonstrate the contrary. Great job ! pls keep doing other tutorials like this..the jarre community will be very grateful to you ...
@Riezz73 Thank You very much :) But You mean my Arpegiator cover (see video responses here) not this tutorial or?
Actually I am sad because I noticed for 2 weeks, that I cancelled my Reason workfile with Arpegiator. I replaced my finished version with older not finished version :/...
@microkorger The best way could be just to hear and play by ear. Its not difficult. Try it! Playing by ear is very very important :). If is no solution for You then you can see how I am playing this on my Arpegiator live video. You can see there few of Arpegiator arrangement lines. Look on my channel for it. Regards!
@chrisbern75 thanks, i'll do that. it's easy i know - but it's easy when a melody is complicated(like Equinoxe 4 or something), but i was trying to play the Arpegiator bass for ages - just because it uses only 3 notes:)
Wow, this is realy a great tut. Indeed the sounds are very like the originals, how do you do that - which instruments and FX do you use to create the sounds - I work with reason.
I made it with Reason 3.0 and used mainly the subtracors as synths (bass is combined from 2 subtractors). Now I make this great Jarre-Basses (Equinoxe, Arpegiator, Magnetic Fields) of course in Thor (Reason 4.0). Drums are drum samples from Linn Drum (search in Internet). For the synth Hi hat I used some analog Hi hat and I modulated in Redrum his pitch with external LFO from subtractor.
Great job man,I love arpegiator since the first time,i stil believe its timeless and JM Jarre is an alien ;) (just like Gershon Kingsley)..without the delays this song sounds like music from somr Atari game, from the 80's LOL! Great job man, thnx
chrisbern75,
What kind of sound( name of sample) did you used as bass?
oknomonter 4 months ago
@oknomonter I don't use any samples for analog sounds. I just made it on synthesizer in Reason.

@wutierson This finger snap is only one sample from original and I have no idea how to make it on synthesizer...

Thanks a lot Chrisbern,
I will try to make the sound, did you use standard presets from Reason Flatpack ?
Greetz
red2mybone 2 years ago
No, for JMJ covers I don't use presets. I make this sounds on Thor and Subtractor. In Arpegiator only Choir is Reason preset.

Excellent work ! Very nice job and respectful of the original song, which is rare...
Any chance that you ever release the Reason file, even in protected format, so fans can have a close look on how you constructed the song ? :)
Keep up your good work and thanks for sharing this with us !

Which refill are you using?

There are no Refills. Only the samples from Linn Drum are not from Reason.

:) This about Oxygene 8 I didn't know and about Oxygene 2 I know it sice Oxygene Tour 2008. Francis Rimert plays this 4/4 bass on Minimoog :)
chrisbern75 2 years ago
Great tutorial!
Yes Jarre uses this 3/4 delay alot, did you know that the bass on Oxygene 2 only plays 4/4 notes?
The most crazy is Oxygene 8 because the original notes starts 1/16 before start, so it is the delay that plays the notes you hear :o)

As a long-time fan of Jean-Michel Jarre, I have to say this tutorial is very instructive. And gratz for replicating the music too!

amazing, how simple jarre's masterpiece is. real musicians might heard it years ago, but this is a VERY good analysis of the arpegiator.
nevertheless, one of jarres pest piecaes. it's no shame to use this simple technology.
thanks for the work. awesome.

why dont you go back in time for 30 years and program a better arpegiator, without having modern computers and virtual software instruments..

hmm. i didn't say, i could. that's why it's a masterpiece?
