A virus may have caused a mutation in an ancestor of humans that made us more "civilized". Made us who we are. We're still mostly apes...but what is this sentimentality for clinging to this romantic idea of "humanity"? If a virus could give us peace while retaining all our creativity, I would welcome it. I empathize with those who would be immune, but they would pose a threat to the new species.
