  • the racecars were not near as safe as the cars today

  • Classic B.P. "How did that Camera live through all that?"

And yeah, it did look like Martin was running 200 mph when he went through the fence, and into the chainlink fence.

  • Did anyone see Jeff Gordon?

  • Did he hurt his balls?

  • Gordon was lucky.

  • Love those Raw sat. feeds!

  • Thanks, I've always wanted to see this live, I could never find it!

  • I hope Mark got a piece of that Emmy ESPN got for his roof shot. Bob Jenkins FTW.

  • omg Mark didn't have any breaks O_o.............

  • these are the real good old days for Nascar, good commentaters, and racing and drivers like this, too bad i wasnt old enough to remember a lot of it, so i have to look it up on youtube, lol!!!

  • @wreckjimmiejohnson same here man

  • I want espn to bring back bob jenkins, ned jarrett, and john kernon. Rest in peace benny. Mark martin and bobby labonte always been in the big ones at talladega. They both won their in the 90's and have bad luck there too. jared out.

  • are chain link fences so new back in 1994 in this video that they dont even know if its called ''chain link fence'' LOL

  • @nuclearthreat545

The road that Mark Martin went down was the pit exit to the road course. The chain link was there to keep the spectators out. They didn't expect what happened.

  • i have all the USAir cars Sacks and Musgrave

  • A few amazing things to mention here. Mark Martin won an ESPY award for this crash, the announcers showed legitimate human emotion which I miss, and holy shit he avoided killing the fans. WOW!!!

  • He really does say a prayer after that crash too. wow.

  • damn the commentators were really scared for mark

  • the chances of going through there are a million to none

  • great commentary during the commercial break...we need this more often!

  • mark has always looked twice his age, but before 1994 he looked pretty young...now i know why-in those 15 seconds he aged 30 years! lmao

  • I want to see the whole race and when Dale paid tribute to Ayrton.

  • Four wide doesn't work anywhere you try it.

  • Mark Martin is an awesome driver but he always has the worst luck at restrictor plate races.

  • he had some good, he did win Talladega in 1997 and its the fastest Nascar race ever.

  • awesome vid, bad crash

  • That was some ride Mark underwent there. You won't see that today because that area was paved over and a concrete wall was installed, so nobody's gonna go through there like that again.

  • can you imagine what would happen to Mark if he somersaulted that guardrail?

  • Oh yeah, That would obviously have been disasterous.

  • that woulda been huge if the field was in a huge pack

  • i love nascar. i dont know how f1 could be any better than this

  • Wow, unedited commercial break.

    Nice.

    GO MARTIN!!!

  • I was there on the 5th row at the start finish line. It was an amazing thing to see in person.

  • That was one of the worst Talladega crashes I've ever seen, albiet not as bad as the "Catch Fence Club" of Bobby Allison, Neil Bonnett, and now Carl Edwards, but still it was a bad wreck, by the way the roof cam shot was awesome,

  • Ricky Craven isnt included in this list?

  • Yeah, I forgot him on my list. Craven did have a horrific crash in 1996 where he hit the catch fence, and showered a panorama of debris.

  • ok since he was safe (thank God) i can say this.. that was hilarious how he just kept going and going LOL.

  • not really.

  • How'd you get it through the commercial break? that was pretty neat!

  • Satellite feed

  • Ohhh... Okay. It can help!

  • Mark Martin is young lol

  • These big ones had less cars involved but the consequences were so mush worse back then

  • You;re right. Thank god though that Mark Martin survived this one. It was really scary.

  • Mark Martin '09

  • what was so funny

  • wow he looks a lot different then today!!!

  • Bob still does PA work at Indy...got to meet him personally last year at the track, didn't ask about this wreck though.

  • You did? That's sweet!

  • What a scary crash. Mark is one lucky driver.

  • what were they laughing about during the commercial break?

  • probably the guy sitting in the car while it was being towed

  • they were laughing at something they were talking with the people in the truck down below. we were only hearing 1/2 of a conversation

  • I wonder about what the whole conversation was about. Was funny though I guess. lol

  • Lets just say Mark wasn't feeling too good below the belt, if you know what I mean.

  • That is amazing how Mark Martin walked away from that is amazing, Thanks for posting that has to go into my Favourits for sure lol

  • This was May 1st, 1994, the day Senna died...I wasn't able to watch this race that day but had taped it. I was watching our local news to see who won the race and I remember our local news in Iowa had a "teazer" leading into their sports segment saying that one of the top racers in the world died in a crash that day. I was convinced it was someone at Talladega. Still sad that Senna died. Someone very easily could have gotten hurt badly at Talladega though...

  • lol at 5:14 Benny Parsons turned into the John Madden of NASCAR.

  • oopis i meant 5:26

  • This is still one of the most spectacular crashes in Nascar history!!! Thanks for the post!!!!!

  • I think Martin was in literally every big one in the 90's...except the for the caution free Talladega race...which he won...lol

  • LOL he hurt his nuts lol

  • Thats probably where the center of the 6 point seat belt hit him

  • darn 24 involved but kool spin

  • Thanks for posting this, it's the best one on youtube. Mark is the coolest, I'm so happy he's full time in 2009.

  • How can you not like MArk Martin? really hes one of the nicest and classiest guys out there. And if I am ever 50 years old and still able to even drive like he does would be a blessing. Hes awesome

  • The belts actually caught him in the "lower" areas, and knocked the wind out of him. Martin was lucky.

  • what the hell does a en o mean

  • Mark Martin has hair!! :D

  • NASCAR was awesome in the early 1990's on ESPN with Bob Jenkins, Ned Jarrett, & Benny Parsons along with John Kernon & Jerry Punch on pit road was the best crew we could've asked for, I miss them!

  • Why cant nascar be what it used to be.I miss all the old announcers and now they make cars that you cant even wreck in.

  • i know the racing has been different in recent years with the cot but think about it, theres been more wrecks, big ones, and pileups this year than most other years. look at dover in the spring, the first richmond race, the night race at daytona and who could forget last weekend at talladega. maybe its harder to wreck the new car but when it happenes it happens big:O

  • yah plus there safer but at talledega 2 weeks ago the wrecks werent that big.plus the tire problems gettin on my nerves a little bit.jr seems to get caught up in each one of those

  • @jrfan07 it does happen big...but they have this new car to where cars wont even turn backwards anymore...let me ask you somethin...when was tha last time you seen a crash like jeff gordon's at dover spring '05??...or stewart lowe's '05 in the fall??...these cars are exceelent when it comes to safety...im all for it...but theres no wreckin anymore....the cars are too big...make the quarter panels smaller...get rid of tha tall fin on the short tracks & cookie cutters and youll have some racin

  • @achamb3434 no wreckin anymore? dude, the flips, blowovers, pileups and hits have been massive and frequent every year lately. think of all the cars/trucks that have been airborne in the past 3 years - mears, allmendinger, setzer, hornaday, mcdowell, martin, newman, edwards (twice), keselowski, dale jr, kahne, skinner and logano. not to mention the massive impacts from elliot sadler, jeff gordon and johnson. plus two 20 car wrecks this season alone, something not seen in a while, think about it.

  • @jrfan07 i hear what youre sayin 100%...they wreck but it doesnt have that wow factor to me anymore...youll never see big ones like you did in tha late 90s early 2000s...when they wreck now it would be just allmendinger...just edwards...etc...you wont see those guys & 18 of there friends piled up in tha infield because of tha car...i glad for tha safety changes because who wants to see deaths....but wit these cars you cant completly loose it anymore...no big ones...jus flips...& those we've seen

  • so glad he wasnt hurt he is my favorite and the best!

  • To hear Benny Parsons again along with Bob Jenkins and Ned Jarrett is a real treat!

  • where they at commerical be4 this happened?

  • yea

  • thought so i saw this race on ESPN classic yesterday afternoon preety scary accident

  • ya-daaaaaaaa ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • This was the day Senna died

  • yes it was and alot of people thought martin may have died

  • I believe Earnhardt went on to win this race.

  • yes he did

  • One of the worst crashes in Talladega history.

  • Ah, the best years of NASCAR. Great cars, great drivers, great commentators. You could actually identify a driver's sponsor; it didn't change every week. It wasn't about the money, it was about racing.

  • i miss the t-birds!!

  • Mark got messed up. i miss the good days of ESPN n NASCAR. Bob Jenkins, Benny Pearson n Ned Jarrett

  • was this from live satellite feed? good video!

  • Good point lpdoby, you can tell they weren't on the air when this clip starts.

  • the ESPN back then was sooo much better than know. get rusty and andy out the booth!

  • Who else but Earnhardt out front.

  • BPs reaction to a crash never gets old

    R.I.P. BP

  • i wish that the ESPN crew was as good as ned,bp and bob

  • finally

Some1 put this video up ive been waiting months for a video of this wreck thanks

  • Sounds like Jenkins and BP were having a good time in the booth. Sounds like they were smoking too! Hilarious!

  • Bodine,need i say more?

  • lol

  • @floydfanTN You mean crash bodine. that was my nickname for him when he was in Cup

  • Nasty wreck.

I still get chills watching this wreck from Mark's car.

I'm thankful that he survived and is still racing to this day.

  • Go Mark Martin! #1

  • Amazing!!!

  • Ahhh I've wanted to see this for years. Thank you so much

  • AWSOME thank you

  • I'm glad that Mark is OK. Plus that was the same day when Ayrton Senna died in a Formula 1 race in Italy.

  • An early example of how a soft wall helps...

  • Even though it was Concrete :P

  • or not

  • It's unbelievable Mark walked away from that, Glad he was okay, One more Guardrail he may have gone into the fan area

  • hey can you post the last 10 laps or so of this race? Spencer and Earnhardt had one hell of a race. I remeber them splitting a lapped car. Man it was an awesome race.

  • thanks for this man

  • ive been lookin for the extended version of this. thanks a lot

  • thank u!
