  • I'd probably still enjoy them as I've enjoyed all of Gerard's preaching that I've ever heard. As for Hope, I know they've moved but I'm not sure where.

  • I've loved this song for many years, as Sister Debra was my senior Bible teacher in academy. Someone sent her a link to your video of this song and she just posted it on her Facebook page. Do you by any chance have the tapes of her ex-husband's sermons from that camp meeting? I've always wanted to hear some of his camp meeting sermons from the 80s because I heard that they were really amazing. I have some of his old tapes from when he was with Amazing Facts.

  • Boy, I don't know... I used to have the tapes from that camp meeting. They might still be in a box somewhere in my attic. One of the highlights I remember was an "almost" debate that happened between Gerard and John Osborne who was speaking at the same camp meeting. Right in the middle of one of John's sermons he (Dis) stood up and challenged him to an open debate. It had to do with what constitutes the church which was a really hot topic at the time.

  • Wow, I'll bet that was something. Was this at a Hope International camp meeting? If so then they might still have the tapes. I used to have one tape that Gerard did at a Hartland camp meeting, but it was too similar in style to a crusade sermon. A good friend of mine was at a camp meeting in California where Gerard was the English speaker at a Spanish camp meeting. He said Gerard really cut loose and preached like he wanted to preach rather than toning down his delivery for Amazing Facts.

  • Yes, it was at the 1987 Hope International camp meeting. As I recall, his sermons were more extemporaneous than were John Osborne's which sounded more like memorized scripts to me. You may be disappointed though, because they did sound like crusade sermons. Clearly, he didn't agree with some of the things John was saying, but since they didn't allow the debate, things calmed down considerably after that.

Is Hope International still around? I haven't heard from them in the last ten years or so.

  • Jack, can you play the hymn "Lord Prepare Me"?

  • I'm not sure if I know that hymn. Can you give me some more detail? Who's it by? What are some of the lyrics, etc.

  • Can't get Youtube to accept my reply Jack. I'll keep trying.

  • Well, I give up. I sent email to your web site and it was returned and can't post URL's here.

You can do a Google search, LORD PREPARE ME, and get info/lyrics. I think you'd love the song. It fits right in with what you sing/play.

  • I think they mean the song Sanctuary written by Randy Scruggs & John Thompson.

    Lyrics:

Lord prepare me a sanctuary pure and holy tried and true with thanksgiving I'll be a living sanctuary for you

we sing this on Sunday at our church

    blessings

    Paul

  • Have to write again as I have listened now very carefully to the words. What a beautiful picture of the relationship God wants to have with us - illustrations which he intended to be seen in the OT sanctuary furniture and services. This is so precious and amazing. Again ... thanks

  • I have just discovered this song of yours, Jack. It is early Sabbath morning for me and this was a lovely song to begin my thoughts and meditations for the day. Thanks, Jack. This seems to really suit your musical style, too. Catchy and beautiful. I just have to "favourite" it.

  • A beautiful song with a good sound and lyrics.

  • A very nice song.. thank you for sharing it with me..:-)

  • Jack, this song reminds me that only holiness, a pure clean heart will only enter the Kingdom of God. We somtimes forget this at least I do and this is the only way I will ever enter Heaven any other way is a deceit. Thank you for the video.

  • Wow, Shawn, that's quite a compliment! I'm quite sure not everyone agrees with you on that! But, as hard as it is for me to memorize a song these days, I don't like to put that much effort into songs that don't really say anything. In any case, I'm really glad the songs I share minister to you!

  • Awesome Song.

  • Thanks Scott! Our God is awesome!

  • Soothing song. Very nice!

  • Praise the Lore! I'm glad it ministered to you!

  • Great song Jack 5 stars from Rocket

    Rob

  • Thanks Rob. Martins and Taylors are both great guitars. For most of my life I wanted to own a Martin until I bought my first Taylor in 1996. But if someone offered to give me a vintage Martin D28 (Brazilian rosewood - pre 1969) I'd probably stop playing my Taylors!

  • I hear you Jack. I for them at garage sales. no luck yet lol

  • It happens! But not as often these days! And even if it did, I don't know if I could live with my conscience if I didn't tell the owner how much it's really worth!

  • Great job Jack! That's the beauty of the Psalms! There are so many incredible lyrics for songs of praise. 5 stars as always. For His kingdom!

  • Amen! Thanks Joe!

  • How sweet it is! Thank you for your encouragement!

  • I like your song Jack. Thanks

  • Praise the Lord!, but it's not really my song. It was written by an evangelist's wife named, Debra Dis.

  • Great job as usual, Jack.

And what a beautiful guitar! God plays a Taylor, am I right?

    Crash

  • I thought God played a Martin?

    : )

    Rocket

  • Really?

  • Taylors are great guitars, but...

  • If you guys are starting a band I think I can play the sproingy rubberband thing you put in your mouth. A one string I believe. Van Halen's "Eruption" is my specialty! LOL Excellent Jack!!

  • LOL! You mean a Jew's harp? That would be great!

  • Fabulous song...thanks so much for sharing this one!

  • Thank you and you're welcome! Glad you liked it! GBY!

  • A nice song. What kind of western guitar do you play, Jack? I have a Maestro (41") myself, that's an Asian high quality guitar at a small price. :)

  • This is a Taylor 810-B, made in El Cajon, California. I found it on Ebay and paid much less for it than I would have at a retail store. Blessings on you, komodoman! Thanks for stopping by!

  • Wnderful song, thanks.

  • Glad you liked it! To God be the glory!
