I currently graduated from beauty school, and as a cosmetologist we love to experiment on our hair... especially with hair color. Before I began beauty school my hair was thick and natural, never been colored. Now it seems I've colored my hair so much that I realized it has thinned out so much and became weak. I try not to wash it as much, to let it air dry and then brush it... but whatever I do its still falling out. Is there any way to repair the damage and get my thick natural hair back?
I was losing my hair like crazy until my doctor told me my iron was very low. Now I take iron supplements and stopped losing my hair and what I lost is now growing again. Ask your doctor for a blood test. Might help.

I have had hair loss from Chemo 3 years ago and this lady looks like she has allot of hair next to me and I always had a huge head of hair. No one can help me I have been to derm doctors and rogaine and maintaining my hair is more expensive then this ladies problem so dont ever expect help you unless you can go somewhere they have studied hair loos. They can make sure a man can use his penis but we are lost. I was never told from my doctor I had a chance for hair loss. Taxaotore was my chemo.
I take it you have hair or are not female in my case and hundreds from US and Europe I chat with on BC site have the same problem but this lady had much more hair than we do we still look sick without wearing a piece and no one will have a solution and the chemo company never gave us a warning they just keep giving it to women there are other chemo that dont do this but they dont make as much money from it. Watching this video made me cry. I know how she feels. For every day I'm slowly losing apart of me. For over 2 years now. I have been losing my hair. I have losted over 85% of my hair gained 2 bald spots & losted half of my eye lashes. Doctors say I have alopecia. But they don't know why I have it. I've tried just about everything I could think of. But nothing has worked. I don't want to go bald. Or wear a wig. But I don't know what else to do. =(

Lacey, Female pattern baldness is not going to be helped by a laser! FPB is usually always a combination of factors including, genetics, stress, and hormones and or androgens acting against your body (folicles) Sadly i to have this and have been to endocrinologists and derm Drs only to learn theres not much that can be done. There is a Dr in NY( Maybe at Columbia) that had bad hair loss and she seems to be the expert, she was on a National Geo or Discovery documentary but i cant rem. her name!

Including the laser treatments but when I didn't see any results after 4-5 months, I stopped going. But after watching this video I'm wondering if I didn't make a mistake by quiting the treatments. @tlvailco I think with the whole Nioxin thing that it just works differently on everyone. They messed up on the bottles when it says "use daily" cause washing your hair everyday will definately cause hair loss! I use it every other day. I've heard olive oil reduces it, have you tried that?

I too have female hair loss and I wanted to share a quick hair trick that I use - Bumble and Bumble have a "Dry Shampoo" with a tint - it's $55CDN (a bit pricey) shake well and spray onto the scalp area. It doesn't make hair grow, but if done well it does provide a visual trick and looks quite natural. Also, dyeing hair causes the hair follicle to swell, hence a more thicker appearance. Good luck....
First of all when a female starts loosing her hair, its like loosing much of your femininity. The over-dramatic behaviour is nothing compared to the shame felt (as if it where our fault for happening). I have suffered from thinning hair roughly since I was 12, im now 26 and my baldness looks just like Laceys and I know EXACTLY what she is going through in particular as I also hide my discomfort with it even with close friends and love interests.
I lost alot of my hair because i stopped eating meat /protein but i started eating meat again and got my hair back. It can happen if you have low protein intake.

I'm 31 and watching Lacey's video was like watching my experience. Exact same story. I even have a bob haircut, because that's the only way it looks good. I had hair just past my shoulders when I started dating my boyfriend, then I cut it. He misses my long hair but he doesn't realize how much work it takes to make it look ok. Told him if I grow it out again, he can buy me "Put On Pieces" to make it look better.

@ThoughtGazeCarlos, while I was in Australia, I went to get tons of blood tests and everything seemed normal except two things: my iron levels were quite low but not yet hitting deficiency, and the birth control I had been on could have a problem because three months prior to my hair loss, I switched to a new, high androgen index pill called lo-ovral. Now I've been taking Iron supplements every day and I switched over to Yaz which is much lower in androgen index. I started using rogaine as well

I agree that she is totally dramatic about her hair loss. It seems like she's crying for attention, not necessarily help, and that she should shut up because there are so many people out there who have it worse. But I will say that the machine he used is really cool. I had one used on me and I couldn't believe all the gook built up at my root cause blockages! I currently graduated from beauty school, and as a cosmetologist we love to experiment on our hair... especially with hair color. Before I began beauty school my hair was thick and natural, never been colored. Now it seems I've colored my hair so much that I realized it has thinned out so much and became weak. Watching this video made me cry. I know how she feels. For every day I'm slowly losing apart of me. For over 2 years now. I have been losing my hair. I have losted over 85% of my hair gained 2 bald spots & losted half of my eye lashes. Doctors say I have alopecia. But they don't know why I have it. Lacey, Female pattern baldness is not going to be helped by a laser! FPB is usually always a combination of factors including, genetics, stress, and hormones and or androgens acting against your body (folicles) Sadly i to have this and have been to endocrinologists and derm Drs only to learn theres not much that can be done. There is a Dr in NY( Maybe at Columbia) that had bad hair loss and she seems to be the expert, she was on a National Geo or Discovery documentary but i cant rem. her name!

Hey Lacey...I have also been losing my hair for the last 14 years. It began when I was 28 and I'm not 42 and like you, I tried everything. Including the laser treatments but when I didn't see any results after 4-5 months, I stopped going. But after watching this video I'm wondering if I didn't make a mistake by quiting the treatments. @tlvailco I think with the whole Nioxin thing that it just works differently on everyone. They messed up on the bottles when it says "use daily" cause washing your hair everyday will definately cause hair loss! I use it every other day. I've heard olive oil reduces it, have you tried that?

Hiya Lacey! I hope that things are working for you. I too have female hair loss and I wanted to share a quick hair trick that I use - Bumble and Bumble have a "Dry Shampoo" with a tint - it's $55CDN (a bit pricey) shake well and spray onto the scalp area. It doesn't make hair grow, but if done well it does provide a visual trick and looks quite natural. Also, dyeing hair causes the hair follicle to swell, hence a more thicker appearance. Good luck....

First of all when a female starts loosing her hair, its like loosing much of your femininity. The over-dramatic behaviour is nothing compared to the shame felt (as if it where our fault for happening). I have suffered from thinning hair roughly since I was 12, im now 26 and my baldness looks just like Laceys and I know EXACTLY what she is going through in particular as I also hide my discomfort with it even with close friends and love interests.

@TheBromba21 I know what you saying. I have been through it for 14 years now. It is genetic, my mother and grandmother and the whole family. I started to gave up, then depressed, then searching, Until I lose hope all over. See how a guy would go and talk to a girl whose hair is showing the scalp in a coffee shop, and next to hair another one with full hair. Who to choose? Hair is called the crown. that's why it is important.

It worked!!! you always hear about men losing their hair but I never realize how bad it could be until it happened to me. seriously.... I'm 20 and I'm going through the same thing.... you say it's being overdramatic but how bout you try losing your hair..... it wouldn't be very pleasant. Nobody realizes what they have until it's gone. It sucks when people say there is nothing they can do to help you. Especially being female where hair is SO much of your beauty and self esteem. Don't judge until you've put yourself in other people's shoes.

@ThoughtGazeCarlos, while I was in Australia, I went to get tons of blood tests and everything seemed normal except two things: my iron levels were quite low but not yet hitting deficiency, and the birth control I had been on could have a problem because three months prior to my hair loss, I switched to a new, high androgen index pill called lo-ovral. Now I've been taking Iron supplements every day and I switched over to Yaz which is much lower in androgen index. I started using rogaine as well

@katieliz89 no.. not especially for women... balding just sucks for either gender... and for the most part, women are VERY insensitive towards balding men... so its karma coming back at you and i cant help but smile when i see a thinning woman... it sounds horrible, but that's the way ALL women have made me feel. i wouldn't feel this way if you never made me feel like this.

Trust me, my boyfriend is only 21 and has been balding for a few years now, my brother is balding already and he's not even 18 yet, I know how they feel, but thankfully my hair loss has subsided for now and it's growing back. @katieliz89 i don't know, maybe I'm as vain as women are when it comes to my hair (no, I'm straight). a lot of men don't care about losing it, but many do.. and id be one of those guys whose world came crashing down on them if i went bald.. luckily at 29, i don't see it in my cards... i just felt like standing up for the balding guys.. it seems funny for many females to make fun of bald dudes, but a bald woman is serious and not funny.. that's so unfair and wrong. didn't mean to be rude.

When a woman balds, it's like a man growing a pair of Pamela Anderson breasts. Many women actually like the shaved look on men but not many men like that same look on women. I've had hair loss after my last two children , and i mean hair loss, i don' t even leave my house anymore , that's how much of an effect it can have on your life, my head looks just like this girls , but worse. so unless you have been through this yourself, maybe you should keep your thoughts to yourself!

I agree that she is totally dramatic about her hair loss. It seems like she's crying for attention, not necessarily help, and that she should shut up because there are so many people out there who have it worse. But I will say that the machine he used is really cool. I had one used on me and I couldn't believe all the gook built up at my root cause blockages! I now have just as thick of hair as I did as a child thanks to the right products. I hope that others can find good solutions too!
