The guitar is a prop for him, other artists like Alan Jackson use it as well. His guitar is plugged in but turned way down. There's already another acoustic guitarist and electric guitarist in his band covering the parts.
His stage show wouldn't be the same if he didn't have the guitar with him, even if he doesn't really play it.

He does a good amount of the time but I agree, thats the one and only thing that annoys me about how he performs, sometimes IDK if his guitar is plugged in sometimes
