Nice fab work! I was wondering if you made a crown on your pulley to help the belt track? We experimented here many years now, and the serpentine (micro vee) belt is trouble free with no slipping. You might make 2800 real watts or more depending on the rpm.
Very nice of you to leave a comment! No..I did not make a crown on the pulley (yet) But your right...a serpentine pulley would be a much better choice. In this video the flat belt needs more tensioning and the generator is not aligned properly yet. The belt will jump of the pulley when I put more then 2000 Watts of load on the generator. It also starts to slip because I can see a drop in voltage on the volt meter.
I found out what the problem was with the changing rpm's. There was a little air in the big fuel filter. After I bleed the filter the rpm's stayed stable, even under load. The belt is still shifting over the generator pulley if I put more load on the generator. So I think I have to tension the belt a bit more because its also slipping a bit if there is more then a 500 Watt load on the head. I noticed that on the volt, and frequency meter.
