This song is my fave from this album...even more of a fave than anything from the more popular reload. This is honestly one of my fave metallica songs. This would probly make it on a top ten list in MY opinion.
I dont care what metallica is wearing or what kind of metal they play, as long is it is metal. Load is a great album & just because its more blusey that doesnt make it garbage. Hell, I prefer this x100000000000000 than LULU. In LULU the music & lyrics are good but fucking Lou Reed ruined it with his singing so heres to u lou mlm(-______-?mlm
The Ten Most Underrated songs of all time in Metallica career, Are 10. The OutLaw Torn, 9. Bleeding Me, 8. Better Than You, 7. Ronnie, 6. Poor Twisted Me, 5. Sweet Amber, 4. Attitude, 3. Bad Seed(Maybe), 2. Low Man's Lyric, 1. and either Carpe Diem Baby or Prince Charming
The people who say bad things about some albums are the same people who complained when Metallica cut their hair. When you help create and expand a genre of music, metal is whatever the f%ck you decide to do. Formulas are for posers and wannabes.
Dude. I don't give a flying FUCK. Load and Reload? The two best Metallica albums... EVER. And to cats who say they sold out? Not even close. This was the album where they said FUCK the fans; we're doing what WE want. And there's NOTHING more legit than that.
CainmosniMirrored..... exactly.. I try to explain that to people who are 1980's fans. People change and so do bands. If they did not they would be like 99.999% of bands who get old and need money. Understandable, but not good enough for one the top bands of all time
Heh, every time I hear this song it makes me burst out in fucking tears due to how it reflects to me like a mirror. I was in 5th grade when Load came out, my mother was a huge fan from back in the day. I'm 25 now and after hering it for the first time in 14 years, it makes me think of someone I used to care for and still do to this day. :/
This, Bleeding Me, and Low Mans Lyric, Hose That Jack Built, Cure, Prince Charming, Mama Said are all great songs. The only people who don't like Load and Re-Load Metallica are sellouts. Metallica is a great band.
@HighMindedLunacy i find a few things wrong with your response. 1 if you really expect that i'm 15 and given my post you really think a 15 y/o has watched strippers/had a lap dance? that's messed up and immature, 2 say i am 15 is calling me a 15 y/o boy an immature asshole something you as a supposed adult should be doing? tsk tsk fuck nugget looks like i'm not the only one who has some growing up to do
@CainmosniMirrored the funny thing is that if it were any rock band that made them, the loads would have been praised as two of the best rock albums ever made
but because its metallica, and people expected thrashy heavy metal, people dislike them
i pity the artists who don't change their sound every now and then, and keep out turning out the same old thing time after time, Load is my all time favorite album. and i often(believe it or not) listen to it to help me sleep, or to sooth my temper after a bad day or having a fight with my lovers.
@izabethburrfoot YA me too except the lovers part, i'm not dating at the moment but i need either Load, ReLoad or st Anger to sleep most times cuz i can't sleep with 80's thrash or any thrash metal band playing i want to hear the lyrics and a simple sound stragiht forword and that's how i like it
@agrakkasan Exactly. People need ot learn that just because it's not wild like Hit the Lights or Metal Militia doesn't make it bad. Fuck the ones who call Metallica a sell out.
@agrakkasan They cut their song lengths in half, switched from elaborate structures to verse-chorus stuff, tempered their style with a lot of rock moves (including big, fat, groovy riffs), recorded a LOVE BALLAD, made videos that didn't seem like they were trying to get viewers to commit suicide, and on top of all that, they hired Bob Rock to produce it. The Black Album is one of the most transparent bids for a mass audience that has ever been released. They didn't progress, they regressed.
@MrKickyourbutt well said sir people have told me that load and reload were the sell out albums and so on but i think black album is where...i don't wanna say they sold out...but it certainly seems thats the moment they changed their whole approach just to attract radio play and worldwide notoriety. dont get me wrong black album sounds great but it fails to compare its metal to the likes of kill, ride, master, and justice, and its poetic factor to that of load/reload
This song is seriously one of the most sexy songs ever. And I mean that in the most serious manner possible. If the song was a woman's body, she'd be a goddess.
Maybe I'm crazy...But...I'm not the hugest Metallica fan in the world like I used to be in high school, but, I feel as though Load and Reload has both Metallica's best, and worst songs...This being one of the best of course. I've since gone in different directions musically, but certain Metallica songs bring back such feelings of nostalgia.
The cover of the album is original artwork entitled "Semen and Blood III". It is one of three photographic studies by Andres Serrano created in 1990 by mingling the artist's own semen and bovine blood between two sheets of Plexiglas
@thomaswithanH yea im pretty sure its the artist's own sperm and blood and kirk hammet and jason newsted both wanted it as the cover...the artists is some spanish guy i cant think of his name at the moment
@thomaswithanH yea im pretty sure its the artist's own sperm and cow blood and kirk hammet and jason newsted both wanted it as the cover...the artists is some spanish guy i cant think of his name at the moment
I really don't understand why this album is hated. The so called "true Metallica fans" think that everything after Justice is total shit, when there's stuff like this that can kick the shit out of some of their other songs. In the mind of most "true fans", the only good songs are the entire albums of Kill 'Em All, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All, and every song but Escape off of Ride the LIghtning. And to some people Enter Sandman. When in reality this whole album kicks Sandman's ass.
@orion77j I know right? Fade to Black isn't exactly thrash, but seriously, if fade to black was on Load, it would have gotten alot more hate and disrespect. Basically, people think some songs suck just because they are on a certain album.
@mario1136 I think this song may even be heavier than FTB, yes it is off a classic album, and it is a classic song, but like i said, if Outlaw was on an album between Lightning and Justice, it would have fit right in and been accepted and loved. it's a kick ass song
i don't know about anybody else, but these two albums Load and Reload really "define" Metallica for me. i was just getting into hard rock/metal at 16/17 when Load came out and those were the songs "Until It Sleeps" "King Nothing" that made me sit up and go "this is the coolest F***ing band in the world!" and i'll never forget the first time i saw the video for "Memory Remains" off Reload with the weird rotating room thing. i just sat there mesmerized! yeah, let the critics say what they want!
@SlyNicolai It was released as a B-side on one of the two UK editions of The Memory Remains single and also on a Japanese mini-album for The Memory Remains. If you spot the mini-album, buy it... the b-sides are: DJ Spooky's remix of "For Whom the Bell Tolls", the tepid mix of "King Nothing", "Fuel for Fire" (as it would have been if included on Load... main difference is the lyrics), the demo version of "The Memory Remains", and this track.
LOAD would be awesome had not REload been done.... Outlaw Torn, Bleeding James, Death Metal style growls on Ain't my bitch could have been legendary. Lesson: Metal = many thing, but =/= lazy!
Anyone who says Metallica is untalented is a mindless fool. This song is everything a song should be, and more. Having the skill to write such a masterpiece is far beyond me. This song has more emotion than anything I've ever heard, and a solo that could bring a grown man to his fucking knees.
This song is to Metallica what "Achilles Last Stand" was to Led Zeppelin. The absolute unrivaled apex of musical achievement in their respective genres, and yet because their length neither have been heavily commercialized or given the full acclaim they deserve.
@jliskiew You are wrong. The reason this song is not acclaimed is because the majority of people(assholes)disregard this ENTIRE album as garbage when in fact it is the BEST Metallica album. All because they changed their sound. They should be more pissed about the Black album which in my opinion is garbage and was made simply to become mainstream. Only St Anger is worse than Black. Unforgiven is the only good tune from the entire disc.
@CainmosniMirrored stop fukin arguin bout metallica on these awesome videos, my god, i hear this shit on every video just listen to the music. and by the way, all metallica albums were awesome, cut this shit.
This entire album was highly under rated in my opinion. This album showed massive musical growth as far as James and Kirk are concerned. The arrangements, the solo's, the use of the slide showed and all around flexibility that wasn't heard in any of the other albums. Not to take away from any of the previous albums, but this one just had more variety on guitar.
The thing about Load that makes it so under rated is the fact that A. It follows the Black Album (which was at the time the only thing EVERYONE wanted to hear from Metallica) and B. It was followed by a disappointing album, or so some say. I honestly haven't heard enough of it to say aside from 3 songs. That said though, yeah Load is very under rated. Sad really.
I don't get why people flame the Load album so much. Honestly, it's their second best album, behind ...and justice for all. Just listen to this! It's a masterpiece! Same goes for the house jack built and bleeding me... Reload, now THAT'S where Metallica screwed up...
@mario1136 it was more of a continuation. they had too much material for one album but not enough for a double album so they split it up and wrote some mor stuff for ReLoad
well....that was disappointing....

This song is just amazing.
Great Singing By James.
Awesome Drumming By Lars.
Jason's Bass On This Is Just Great.
And Kirk's Solo Is Epic.
The Outlaw Torn Is Just Win.

This song is to Metallica what "Achilles Last Stand" was to Led Zeppelin. The absolute unrivaled apex of musical achievement in their respective genres, and yet because their length neither have been heavily commercialized or given the full acclaim they deserve.

@jliskiew No shit man I agree 100%

@jliskiew I think that this is the truest Youtube comment I have ever seen. Bravo, sir.
MehtulUpUrAzz 8 months ago
@jliskiew You are wrong. The reason this song is not acclaimed is because the majority of people(assholes)disregard this ENTIRE album as garbage when in fact it is the BEST Metallica album. All because they changed their sound. They should be more pissed about the Black album which in my opinion is garbage and was made simply to become mainstream. Only St Anger is worse than Black. Unforgiven is the only good tune from the entire disc.

@blazingboy42 He's not arguing, he's just stating his opinion. It seems that you can't do that on this site without receiving hate.

The end riff is one of Metallica"s best riffs. Actually 8:02 to 10:35 is probably in the Top 10 most epic moments in Metal History.

Probably my favorite metallica song, though it's hard to say.
That bass groove is so awesome during the verses! This song is so well written; amazing

This entire album was highly under rated in my opinion. This album showed massive musical growth as far as James and Kirk are concerned. The arrangements, the solo's, the use of the slide showed and all around flexibility that wasn't heard in any of the other albums. Not to take away from any of the previous albums, but this one just had more variety on guitar.
tybros 1 year ago
The thing about Load that makes it so under rated is the fact that A. It follows the Black Album (which was at the time the only thing EVERYONE wanted to hear from Metallica) and B. It was followed by a disappointing album, or so some say. I honestly haven't heard enough of it to say aside from 3 songs. That said though, yeah Load is very under rated. Sad really.

I don't get why people flame the Load album so much. Honestly, it's their second best album, behind ...and justice for all. Just listen to this! It's a masterpiece! Same goes for the house jack built and bleeding me... Reload, now THAT'S where Metallica screwed up...
xshaggothxx 1 year ago
@xshaggothxx How did Metallica screw up with ReLoad? It was like a movie sequel and it was an awesome one too.
mario1136 1 year ago
@mario1136 it was more of a continuation. they had too much material for one album but not enough for a double album so they split it up and wrote some mor stuff for ReLoad
Vanderhoffenmeister 1 year ago
@Vanderhoffenmeister Yeah. Lars said it was originally going to all be on one CD.

Considering this album had what, 14 songs, they could've easily cut out one of the other boring songs entirely and left this song as it is!
