well i cant compete with Max`s comment Raymond.he always amazes me with his insightful and creative comments!sounds like streets of Laredo!i love the new/old lyrics!escellent
This is among my favorite of the multitude of decendants of "The Unfortunate Rake" simply for the mere fact that the lyrics are seamlessly matched to the old tune as if they were written at the same time and married to eachother. Your delivery here is indicative of a true music craftsman and folk song troubadour in that you've managed to bring back to life a very old gem with a freshness for today's generation.
Another top class performance Raymond, thanks for the info. Have you uploaded "T Another top class performance Raymond, thanks for the info. Have you uploaded "The Unfortunate Rake?"

That's where I first heard it, as it says in the information box. The name in brackets is the writer. Thanks for the video response.

Thanks. I don't know the version you refer to, but this song is certainly one I remember from my teenage years.

Yes indeeed it was known by several different names, "The Streets Of Laredo", "Only The Hangman", "Only The Heartaches", and one or two other names.
